Title: January Gaming Schedule
Post by: Failed on December 26, 2010, 02:37:41 PM
So you can all be prepared and know which days you want to turn up and which days you can miss, here is January's Game Nights

FRIDAYS (10pm GMT onwards)
7th Gears 2
14th Halo: Reach
21st Red Dead Redemption
28th Bad Company 2

WEDNESDAY THEME NIGHT (10pm-12pm GMT)
5th Racing - Hydro Thunder
12th Fighting - MvC2
19th Co-Op - Left 4 Dead 2
26th Music Rock Band 2

SATURDAY AMERICAN NIGHTS (10pm EST / 3am GMT)
15th Gears 2
29th Red Dead Redemption

If you have any suggestions for amendments or ideas, post below so i can change before January comes.
Each night will get it's own Topic, so you DONT have to post here if your turning up. Just suggestions or any changes (no Craig, not Gears every night :P )

Also look out for the new Monthly Newlsetter, appearing in the last week and a Podcast (maybe) to keep you entertained and up to date

lots of people own Red Dead and there are plenty of L4D fans

Next month will probably see a CoD and Team Fortress 2 appear.

It is highly probable that I will be able to turn up on the 7th, 14th, and 29th. Maybe the15th and 28th as well, if I can get my copy of Red Dead back from my buddy in time.

How'd you like the Americaland/Canada nights? Good idea?

Looks like it's just the 7th for me unless i've finally started Halo Reach for the following week.

Left 4 Dead 2 & Rock Band 2 sound good though.   :)

I like the America nights.  I enjoy playing on Friday's when I manage to get off work in time to join you all, but I think the Saturday night games will be easier for me to get to.

Same here - Saturdays work well - I may be mistaken, but aren't there some Saturdays missing from the line-up? 8th & 22nd?

hydro ... THUNDERRRRRR!!!1!

tbh now that i have spent 400msp on it, i would say it's definately worth 1200 points >_<

It'll take you about 3 hours to unlock all the maps, which is 18000 points, but you need 60000 to unlock the last Tournament and 100,000 for one of the achievements. Each map has 10 collectables and each map has 3 time trials where you have to shuttle through increasingly difficult rings, gauntlet mode which is a time trial but with explosive barrels everywhere and 10 Tournaments. Each boat also has extra livery you have to unlock by doing certain levels with that boat. It's gonna take 10+ hours to complete.
Not only all that content though, but the game is FUN .... simplez.

too complex, we may as well just get two cheap copies when it's on DOTW then we can play online together without all the hassle. If it was a game that had no online or that we didn't want to play together i would just transfer my profile onto her console or vice versa. We very rarely buy the same xbla game anyways so it's a lot of effort just to save literally a few pounds.

Failed, If there are two Weeks a month spare on Saturday's, How about making one of those Retro night, Maybe picking a game from Yesteryear.
I bet everyone has a few games knocking about that they don't get to play online with, I'm thinking the likes of: Gears 1 (keep GM happy ;)) Halo 3, Prey, Far Cry 2, The Darkness, Quake Wars or many more, Even something like GTA, Not necessary these games but you get the picture just older games to play once a month.
Considering you could probably buy the older games for around a fiver people might pick them up if they think they will get played by the community.

It's just an idea, Would like to know what you think Failed and other members.

I don't often play much on Saturday's, but i might be tempted by a few games like Prey or The Darkness.

I have no life, so I am usually home and online on Saturday nights.  I would be up for playing some of the older games if I could pick them up for cheap.

Sambo's idea sounds like a good one, IMO. I've definitely got some older games that could use some love with regards to their MP status (UT III / Timeshift / Stranglehold / Quake 4, etc). For those without many older games, it also seems like a budget conscious idea - which is always a plus.

BTW everyone - Happy New Year!  :D

we play enough Gears 2, Gears 1 is the same game but you can't tag grenades.

I was thinking something we've probably all played SP but no MP.

Prey
Darkness
Frontlines
Lost Planet
Unreal Tournament 3
FEAR
Turok
Perfect Dark Zero
Stranglehold
Red Faction Geurilla

I avoided games like Bad Company, Gears and PGR3 because they have sequels we could play instead. All games above are around the 5 mark to buy $ or £.

I've got Unreal Tournament 3, I can get FEAR, always liked that game, I only have the Colonies version of Lost Planet which doesn't carry over my online level from the standard version  :(  still need to get the standard version again.
The Darkness is crap online but you can boost for all the achievements, same goes for Perfect Dark Zero, always a good thing.   :)

You can count me in for BF:BC2 on the 21st.  :)

As for the retro theme, I would join a Gears 1 gamenight just out of curiosity.  I still haven't ever played an online match.  Gears was the 2nd time game I tried on Live and I quickly learned newbies were unwelcome.  Gave up after trying to join a dozen games.

And, as recently as Nov, I still played Red Faction: Guerrilla weekly.  :D
In fact, the recent official game night with the Volition devs was a lot of fun.  I don't think there'll ever be that many people in matchmaking lobbies ever again. I'm a little weary of that game now, but I'd happily join if you need some warm bodies to frag.

If we play Undead Overrun I don't think any of you stand a chance. I've never come anywhere but first place in it and never with less than triple the next highest score. Good luck : D

I'm a noob at Overrun.  I wasn't aware players competed, I thought it was like Horde / Firefight.  Maybe I played something different.  Is there more than 1 zombie multiplayer game type?

Well it's not technically competitive I guess, there is a scoreboard and everything at the end of the match and whatnot. But I played a few games with random people where we've decided to go all out and see who's best and ... I am :D

Ok now you're on your own, I can't run that fast.

And you call yourself a good RDR player?  Keeping me in the game is the true test of a great RDR player.   ;)

We'll see. I make no promises. I'm sure I'll rise to the challenge.

If you don't, I'm sure Kini will.

She's always picking up your slack.   :)

I gave him back RDR because I didn't really like it that much.  I am going to borrow it again for Friday.  I still have one of his copies of Halo Reach and I have his only copy of Gears of War 2.  I did warn him he won't get Halo or Gears back.  *grin*  C

Well if he has more than one copy of something he shouldn't begrudge you stealing/really long term borrowing it anyway. Unless the one you leave him with breaks for whatever reason ;D

He is ok with it.  He can always walk down the street to my house and get any of them back if he wants to play them.  Plus I think he used gift cards I gave him for most of the games he owns.
