Title: E3 2011 Conference
Post by: nCogNeato on May 25, 2011, 02:44:20 PM
(http://trescolony.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/e3_2011.jpg)

The dates for E3 2011 have been announced, and you can mark June 6-9 on your calendar now and then just sit and wait for G4's coverage of the world's biggest video game conference. As always, we'll be bringing you every major press conference, live and streaming (http://www.g4tv.com/e3-2011/), plus tons of exclusive game demos from the G4 stage. On top of that, the crack G4 staff will be reporting on all of the biggest E3 2011 news and announcements and bringing you hands on previews of every major game on the show floor.

We already know that Nintendo has announced their next console, Project Cafe, and you can expect to hear plenty about what they have planned. In addition, here are some of our best guesses as to what we'll find when the E3 Expo kicks off:

    • Grand Theft Auto 5
    • Bungie's First Post-Halo Game
    • Halo 4
    • Bioshock Infinite
    • Assassin's Creed 3
    • Twisted Metal
    • Half-Life 3: Episode 3
    • Diablo 3
    • Resistance 3
    • Borderlands 2
    • Uncharted 3
    • Rage
    • Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
    • Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
    • Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
    • Madden NFL 12
    • Soul Calibur 5
    • Shadow Complex 2
    • Left 4 Dead 3
    • Playstation NPG
    • Nintendo Wii HD
    • Street Fighter X Tekken

Of course, some of this is baseless speculation. Some of these games are confirmed, but many aren't, and there will probably be plenty of games we never saw coming.

Valve have said they won't be there so take L4D3 off that list, unless Gabe makes a surprise appearance like last year of course!   :)

Ubisoft celebrates their 25th year anniversary and has released their E3 lineup, seperated into three categories:

QuoteHigh Definition
Already known for its growing collection of blockbuster brands, Ubisoft's E3 line-up features high definition titles that set the bar for gaming creativity and quality, including: Assassin's Creed Revelations, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, Driver San Francisco, Rayman Origins and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

Online
Ubisoft is entering the online games market in earnest, giving customers continuous connections to their favorite games whenever and wherever they want. By offering innovative new online titles, Ubisoft is using this year's E3 to announce its presence as a key player in the online games space. Titles on display include: From Dust, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online, and TrackMania2 Canyon.

Casual
Ubisoft rules the casual market, holding the number one third-party position on Kinect, 3DS and Wii. Ubisoft continues to pioneer on emerging mainstream technologies and creating games with real-life benefits that the whole family can enjoy. Ubisoft's casual games featured at E3 include: The Adventures of Tintin, MotionSports Adrenaline, RocksmithTM, the upcoming new Raving Rabbids, Just Dance, and Your Shape games.

Halo 4 confirmed by Microsoft

Oopsy daisy! With just over two hours to go until its E3 press conference, Microsoft has – apparently by mistake - published a series of major announcements on Xbox.com – including news that "Halo 4 is on the way".

The information, images of which can be seen below, has since been removed, but in addition to Halo, Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports Season 2 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary were all outed. Surprise!

Xbox.com described Halo 4 as "the news millions of Halo fans have waited for", while the long-awaited Halo HD remake is described as: "The epic game that launched a universe, remastered for a new generation".

Two further unannounced Kinect game were listed. In Ryse, "you are the warrior in this cinematic, action-packed Kinect experience". Meanwhile, Kinect Fun Labs is "a fun new app" with "crazy, cool new gadgets".

I was kind of hoping they would do a Halo HD Collection (Halo 1 & 2).  That certainly seems to be a popular theme this year.

Tomb Raider looked stunning, Peter Moore saying that FIFA, Tiger & Madden will all feature Kinect, also one other game not yet mentioned.

Halo Anniversary coming November 15th.

Gears 3 looked sweet, Ice-T joining Cliffy B on stage and then announced he's reuniting Bodycount to do a song for the game!   :)

Lots of crap for Kinect so far and pretty much all kids stuff, good to MS focusing on the Core!   ;)

That's disappointing.  I was really hoping to see some kind of unique use for Kinect in games I want to play.  Looks like I may be waiting a little longer to buy one.

They showed Star Wars Kinect and it looked extremely poor, awesome music though of course.   :)

Dance Central 2 looks good if you like that kind of stuff, I don't!

BioShock Infinite and Skyrim just shown on GameTrailers, both looked good, doubt i'll bother with the latter, the former is a must have for me.

Overall about a B- on the presentation. Too much Kinnect software still feels like it's geared towards kids and the core games that are integrating it don't really seem like a 'must have' - even Mass Effect 3's voice recognition seems a bit forced. Although, Mass Effect 3 is a 'must have' in my book - primarily because of what the game is on its own.

It's not really integrated into the actual action on the screen, you read the response on the conversation wheel you want and Shepard voices his own response through the storyline. Reminds me of talking to an automated reply system whenever you call any kind of tech support.

Also, couldn't this voice recognition thing be done through sofware and the existing headsets?

I appreciate the work and important of E3, but watching socially awkward game developers breathing nervously in their mics while they stare out into a crowd of 1000 people really takes a toll on me.  I'm going to stop watching and just catch up on the highlights tomorrow.

ps.  I officially hate the name "PlayStation Vita".  It is not pleasant to say or hear.

Truth be told, it's like fingernails on a chalk board at times, my advice, just make a reel and run that biz from the get go. The whole demo-walkthrough concept is also a bit audience defeating, "Yo, stop talking, yes this scene is underwater, I can see what's going on!"  :P

And as it turns out the word Vita is a direct shortening for:

Apparently the name wasn't too popular back then either. ;)

Nintendo Introduces Wii-U at E3 2011 Conference:

That's the console, although the presentation didn't focus much on it, as the controller seems to be the star of the show.

Here's an image of that:

Fable: The Journey being played with Kinect, looks decidedly average!

Fable creator Peter Molyneux has apologised for the misleading announcement of Kinect game Fable: The Journey.
In the Microsoft E3 press conference, a tall dark stranger controlled what appeared to be an on-rails first-person Fable experience. He cast spells at the game's goblin-like Hobb enemies by waving his arms.
Was that an accurate portrayal of Fable: The Journey? No, said silly Peter, it wasn't!
"I made a horrendous mistake on the press demo of taking out the navigation allowing players to move," admitted Peter to OXM.
"I will just say on record now that Fable: The Journey is definitely not on rails."
