In North America, Amstel Light is readily available, but proper Amstel (not
Light) isn't distributed because Heineken (owner of Amstel) doesn't want to compete with itself.
For Christmas, I want to buy a friend a case of proper Amstel. I've searched online for an international shipper, but have found nothing.
Does anyone live in a region that has proper Amstel? Would you be willing to ship a case to me in the U.S.? I'll gladly paypal you the money in advance, plus a little extra for your trouble.
I'll have alook how much they are in Tescos tomorrow. You want tinnies or bottles?
Love a bit of Amstel, only decent thing to drink if we end up in The Temple.
I like a nice Amstel too. Not many places near me have it on draught but when you stumble across a place it's a pleasant surprise.
EDIT: If you dont get round to searching Failed then let me know and I'll pick some up.
Chesters pretty good, we have Efes, San Miguel, Stella, Tuborg on tap plus loads of others. Pretty good for a small 'City'

I'd prefer bottles, but if that causes shipping problems (glass might be dangerous or crazy expensive to ship overseas) I'll settle for cans. :)
I feel obliged to try this now.
Found some in the first pub we went to on Saturday night, good suggestion! Peer pressure ftw indeed. :D
How are we in finding some to ship to me in the US? :-*
To get it before Christmas, it probably needs to be shipped before this weekend. The first person to find me a case give me a total, I'll paypal the money to you asap. :)
Anyone? :'(
Can you even ship alcohol like that? I live on the border, and they give you a bastard of a time just trying to drive across if you have any adult beverages in the car...
... Of course, maybe that was because they were all open, and I offered the customs officer a swig.

I thought you had to have a license to ship alcohol overseas - though with the proper customs forms I dunno, might be possible. I haven't seen any sold in the shops here, just that one pub. I wanted some for the weekend.
I looked but could only find bottles, i have been mad busy lately but managed to run in quick to a big Supermarket. I'd have to have a look at a smaller offlicense, but i couldn't get to one til Tuesday. Which means a wednesday post, even if they have any...
i'm sure posting a small crate wouldn't raise suspicion, glass bottles might though.
These are just gonna get stopped going through two customs checks, food and beverage laws. Worth a shot, but I suspect some staff at customs will be cracking them open :)
I'd love to see those bottles/cans arrive on the other side though :)
Here's a list of the top 20 bevs. Maybe an alternative in there. Sierra Nevada sounds nice.

Sheesh even online retailers won't ship it to NA. Been searching around and Amstel reg is easily found but, getting it to NA is a different matter.
Check this out, the guy out a whole crate of beer through :)

So it seems it's not too difficult, mailing might be different. Ziplock bag each bottle and plenty of foam in between. Do not mark the package as beer, mark as gift, and let it fly and see what happens :)

I have a friend that's currently visiting his family in Ireland. If he has enough room in his luggage to stowaway some contraband, he's going to bring some back to the US. If that falls through, I'll let you know. I <3 Failed. :-*
Stowaway some contraband ;D False bottomed suitcase ftw.
@Neato. I don't thiink your friend will have any trouble getting some Amstel through Irish customs. If they can get Semtex, Ak 47's and a few sniper rifles in and out the country, There should be no problem with a few bottles of beer. ;)
That's the thing they let that stuff through but beer? let drink out of Ireland are you kidding, that'd be like the Vatican giving away all it's files!! :)
