Activision closes Prototype studio
Radical Entertainment is shuttered
Radical Entertainment, the Activision owned studio behind Prototype, The Simpsons Hit & Run and Scarface: The World Is Yours, has been closed.
The news was revealed on Twitter by Rob Bridgett, who served as senior audio director at the Vancouver, Canada based studio.
"RIP Radical Entertainment 1991-2012," he posted.
Radical was founded in 1991 as an independent studio and developed titles for THQ and Microsoft before being acquired Vivendi Games in 2005 and later Activision Blizzard. The studio's last game, Prototype 2, was released in April and a PC version is expected next month.

Update: When reached for comment, Radical parent company Activision sent Kotaku the following statement: QuoteAlthough we made a substantial investment in the Prototype IP, it did not find a broad commercial audience. Radical is a very talented team of developers, however, we have explored various options for the studio, including a potential sale of the business, and have made a difficult conclusion through the consultation process that the only remaining option is a significant reduction in staff. As such, some employees will remain working for Radical Entertainment supporting other existing Activision Publishing projects, but the studio will cease development of its own games going forward.
And in steps Square.... well maybe :)
