Assassin's Creed: Empire / Origin

At the moment we've had nearly a full year without an Assassin's Creed game release. Earlier rumored, now confirmed by Ubisoft to be revealed at this year's E3 - details are scant as to what the game will involve.
A few rough screen shots have reportedly made their way onto the web.

A [Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/sources-next-big-assassins-creed-set-in-egypt-skippin-1750937895)] report earlier last year had the game set in Egypt with the title "Empire" (there have also been rumors that the game's title will be "Origin")- Ubisoft has not confirmed any of these details but they have at the very least confirmed that the game has been in the works and details are on the horizon. The game is expected to be revealed at this year's E3 during Ubisoft’s pre-showing briefing, which takes place on June 12 at 1pm PST.
The [UK Assassin's Creed Twitter (https://twitter.com/Assassins_UK/status/864511845994024960)] account has posted a not so cryptic message - "Sharpen your blade. The Assassins will soon step out of the shadows..." accompanied by a gif featuring the franchise logo in gold and the tag line - "A New Era Begins"
So I'm not a huge fan of Assassin's Creed games. I hated the first one due to controls and the stealth mechanics. Basically I spent latterly an hour running from people chasing me after my 2nd kill and just turned off the game never to go back. My nephew laughed at how horrid I was. I tried Black Flag and I did a bit better, but it didn't hold my interest. I figured I'd never try another AC game then this one comes out....I love anything ancient Egyptian related. Five of my 6 tattoos are hieroglyphics. This game will probably go on my list to get when it goes on sale just due to the setting.

I get ya about the first AC - I actually hit 100% on it (begrudgingly on and off over a three year period) - it felt more like a proof of concept game. Think it was the first game that had attempted having full fleshed out cities with crowds at the scale it did.
The one thing I remember about the original is that it got kind of repetitive with the missions. AC 2 & Brotherhood were much more interesting and varied, then AC III kinda pooped on things, IMO. So the series has had its ups and downs and it's not done itself any favors by attempting to COD itself with yearly releases (lest we forget the AC Unity fiasco with its buggy launch), hopefully this one is handled with better care. Looks good so far.

Agree completely with the bold part, still haven't finished AC III and haven't even bothered with the games after it, a bit of franchise fatigue has clearly set in.

Given that franchise fatigue you mention is probably why I'm several game releases behind, TBH.
They've done better in reverting from the yearly releases as of late, I think it makes sense to space them out. These games are massive and the fatigue also showed in the dev team and the quality around the AC Unity release. I will say though, after the the mess(and missed opportunity) of AC 3, AC IV: Black Flag was really a step in the right direction - story wise it was ok, but pushing the naval battles to the front and including characters like BlackBeard and James Kidd, really helped it along.
AC: Rogue was kind of interesting in terms of seeing a character deviate from the Assassin's Creed and give a different perspective. I think they could do more of that blurring of lines to make the series feel a bit more genuine.
Can't speak to the most recent releases, but I'm sure I'll eventually get to them. And as good as this(AC Origins) looks right now, I may not get to it until 2019... #)

Assassin's Creed Origins To Include "Educational Mode" -

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, that we’ve been asked to do by teachers, by institutions,†says creative director Jean Guesdon. “Discovery tour is another way to enjoy the beauty of the world we’ve recreated. It’s a more educative mode, so it’s clearly focused on education and on bringing to people actual facts, more academic knowledge.â€

This Discovery Tour idea sounds really cool - wish they could have implemented this on some of the previous games.
