Pearl Jam's Backspacer Album Available on Rock Band this Sunday
Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that the brand new album from Pearl Jam, Backspacer, will be available to download on Rock Band this Sunday, September 20. Supposedly, the album will hit store shelves on Sunday as well, which is pretty unique for an album release. The biggest news for Pearl Jam fans is that Target will be selling an exclusive special edition of the album which will have a free DLC code for the entire album to import into Rock Band. This special edition will cost $29.99 stateside at Target stores this Sunday. The tracks included on the album and in the Rock Band Music Store, which are all master recordings, are:
* "Gonna See My Friend"
* "Got Some"
* "The Fixer"
* "Johnny Guitar"
* "Just Breathe"
* "Amongst the Waves"
* "Unthought Known"
* "Supersonic"
* "Speed of Sound"

* "The End"
For those of you that don't plan on picking up the special edition album, the album will also be available for download this Sunday. Tracks are available for 160 MSP ($1.99, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU) apiece, or the album can be downloaded in it's entirety for 1440 MSP ($17.99, £9.19 UK, €21.95 EU).

Pearl Jam's Backspacer Album Available on Rock Band this Sunday
I'm an American Caucasian male between the ages of 25 - 40, so I am of course a Pearl Jam fan.
Despite this, their last album was complete shite. The two before that were "meh" at best. I will not be dusting off my copy of Rock Band for this DLC. ;)
I used to love pearl jam but I think there newest stuff isnt quite as good as the Ten days
All You Need Is Love fastest-selling Rock Band track
It only takes two days to become the quickest seller in the series' history.
Microsoft has announced that 'All You Need Is Love' has become the fastest-selling track in Rock Band's history.
The Beatles' track costs 160 Microsoft Points, with some of the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders, a charity personally selected by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.
Those who buy the track before December 9th will also be entered in a sweepstake for a chance to win a Beatles themed Xbox 360 and Rickenbacker 325 replica guitar controller. Even so, we think the success of this track is down to the fact it's by The Beatles rather than anything else - we can't imagine a Cliff Richard track having the same level of success with those incentives...

Ten Queen tracks coming to Rock Band
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/queenonstage_580.jpg)
Say it with us, friends, in a high-pitched, sing-song voice: Queen is coming to Rock Band! A rumor we heard in late August claiming Harmonix is planning to bring a slew of Freddie Mercury-voiced tunes to its rhythm platform is true. In the last week of October, the Music Store will be visited by the following tracks:
* Another One Bites The Dust
* Crazy Little Thing Called Love
* One Vision
* Fat Bottomed Girls
* I Want It All
* I Want to Break Free
* Killer Queen
* Somebody to Love
* Tie Your Mother Down
* Under Pressure
We wonder if they'll be available as a collection called "All The Good Ones Except for Bohemian Rhapsody."
Corporate synergy is well at work when the Brütal Legend pack rolls its way into this week's Rock Band DLC update. The track grouping includes Mötorhead, Tenacious D and Testament. To wash all that metal down, there are also individual songs from Kansas and Blink 182. For those upset by all of this: you can pull a "Jeremy" in front of the class*, which joins Unplugged next week.
Brutal Legend Pack (440/$5.50):
* Motörhead – "(We Are) The Road Crew '08" (160/$2)
* Tenacious D – "The Metal" (160/$2)
* Testament – "More Than Meets the Eye" (160/$2)
Individual songs (160/$2 each):
* Black Tide – "Show Me the Way"
* Blink-182 – "What's My Age Again?"
* Joe Satriani – "Satch Boogie"
* Joe Satriani – "Surfing with the Alien"
* Kansas – "Icarus (Borne on the Wings of Steel)" (Live from Two for the Show)
* Kansas – "Point of Know Return" (Live from Two for the Show)
* L7 – "Andres"
this is like my own personal thread :)
Rock Band Weekly: The White Stripes, The Damned, Kasabian

The White Stripes Pack 01 (440 Points):
* "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" (160 Points)
* "Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine" (160 Points)
* "Icky Thump" (160 Points)
Individual songs:
* The Damned - "Smash It Up (Part II)" (160 Points)
* Kasabian - "Club Foot" (160 Points)

Rock Band platform now has over 1,000 songs
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/11/gam_rockbandstore_580.jpg)
A recent press release has informed us that with the release of today's Rock Band 2 DLC pack, Harmonix has met its goal of having over 1,000 songs on the platform before the holidays. According to the presser, these tracks represent the work of 390 musical artists. The rhythm gaming community has downloaded over 60 million songs from the Rock Band Music Store, which Harmonix has kept alive and kicking with new musical additions for 105 consecutive weeks.
To put this achievement in chronological terms, we'd estimate that the average length of these songs is, oh, about four minutes. By our calculations, a full playthrough of the Rock Band catalog would take you two days, 18 hours and 40 minutes. Not accounting for the number of times you'll inevitably fail out on "Painkiller," of course.
Congratulations, Harmonix, on this rocking accomplishment! Now, get back to work. That Paul Simon track pack isn't going to program itself.
More Green Day headed to Rock Band
In simple terms, Green Day and Rock Band are friends. There have already been several Green Day tracks released for Harmonix's musically inclined baby and it was announced today that even more are on their way later this month. Starting December 15 on the Wii and Xbox 360 – and December 17 on the Playstation 3 – players will be able to grab three new Green Day tracks from the band's 21st Century Breakdown album: "Christian's Inferno," "Last of the American Girls," and "¡Viva La Gloria!". The tracks will be available individually for $1.99 /160 MSP/200 Wii points. The full track pack will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 for $5.49 / 440 MSP.
As much as I like the new album, i'd rather have some old stuff, Basket Case would be nice
Whenever you look on the Marketplace at the newly released DLC, 90% is Rockband, Guitar Hero or Lips, tbh it should have it's own section!

It actually does now after the latest update.
Unfortunately, that still does not exclude it from the general "Game Add-Ons", as previously believed. Many people are not happy about this.

Next week's Rock Band DLC -- mostly comprised of former Metal Track Pack exclusives -- might be the most umlaut-riddled batch of downloadable tracks to date. A pair of songs from Blue Öyster Cult lead the charge, with additional DLC from Motörhead, Rage Against the Machine, and more on the way.
Each of next week's downloads will go for $1.99 (160 Microsoft points; 200 Wii Points) a pop. Look for them on the Wii's in-game music store and the Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday, January 26. PlayStation 3 users will be able to purchase these tracks on Thursday, January 28.
"Godzilla" by Blue Öyster Cult
"Transmaniacon MC" by Blue Öyster Cult
"Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind
"Levitate" by I Mother Earth
"Killed by Death '08" by Motörhead
"Hair of the Dog" (2008 re-recording) by Nazareth
"Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine
Next Week On Rock Band: White Stripes & Futureheads
(http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/03/500x_white_stripes.jpg)
MTV Games and Harmonix put a little more Jack and Meg in your copies of Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and LEGO Rock Band, a trio of new tracks from The White Stripes (and more) arriving next week.
That includes the radio friendly White Stripes tracks "Seven Nation Army" and "Fell In Love With A Girl." Joining The White Stripes in the Rock Band music store next week are The James Gang and The Futureheads, the latter a fine English post-punk rock band that is worth checking out.
Pricing on the following songs is... $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track. If you'd prefer to buy The White Stripes Pack, that'll be $5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360). Tracks marked with a + are LEGO Rock Band compatible.
* The Futureheads – "Decent Days & Nights" +
* The Futureheads – "Hounds of Love" +
* The James Gang – "Walk Away" +
* The White Stripes – "Fell in Love with a Girl" +
* The White Stripes – "Seven Nation Army"
* The White Stripes – "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)" +
These tracks are a mere 99 cents.
* Neil Peart – "The Hockey Theme" + *
* Shaimus – "All of This" + *
* Shaimus – "Tie You Down" + *

Classic Jimi Hendrix Album Coming To Rock Band
While rumours (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-4416-Jimi-Hendrix--Rock-Band-Planned-For-This-Year?.html) that Harmonix was planning Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band turned out to be wide of the mark (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-4430--Jimi-Hendrix--Rock-Band-Rumours-Dispelled-By-Harmonix.html), Rolling Stone magazine has announced that seminal Hendrix album, Axis: Bold as Love (except "EXP") will be coming to Rock Band as DLC.
Set to arrive during the week beginning March 30th, the DLC will also include a previously unreleased track entitled "Valleys of Neptune", which is also to feature on a new Hendrix CD of the same name.
Playing tracks and solos from the iconic guitar virtuoso will be something else entirely according to MTV Games' Paul DeGooyer: "It's a whole new level of difficulty unto itself," he said. "The thing about these tracks is if you're a Hendrix fan you know that really what powered that vibe is that he kind of just closed his eyes and flowed from his fingers, and we really tried very hard, especially on the expert level, to recreate that effect."
Playing Rock Band with our eyes closed? A nice idea, but highly unlikely.
Reportedly, this first batch of Jimi Hendrix DLC is the beginning of what could be more of the guitar legend's albums for download as a part of a long-term deal between MTV and Experience Hendrix. Themed avatars and guitars could also make their way into the game and the companies are also open to eventually releasing a fully-fledged Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band title in the future.
What is this Rock band of which you speak? What is the fascination? Everybody wants to be a Rock Star!

lol, true true
Finally, Nickelback Comes To Rock Band
(http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/06/500x_nickelback.jpg)
They said it would never happen. But MTV Games and Harmonix aren't going to let discriminating taste get in the way of Canada's greatest musical contribution to the modern age, Nickelback, from coming to Rock Band.
The band's brand of thoroughly authentic music will come to the Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 on June 29 and feature these Nickelback classics as part of the ominously named "Nickelback Pack 01." Each track will set you back $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU or 160 Microsoft Points. If you buy it on the Wii, that's $2.00 USD or 200 Wii Points per track.
For the whole shebang, for that authentic band experience, you'll pay $9.99, £4.99 UK, €7.99 EU or 800 Microsoft Points.
* "Burn It to the Ground"
* "Figured You Out"
* "Never Again"
* "Photograph"
* "Rockstar"
* "This Afternoon"

Xbox gets exclusive "Rock Band Megamix" DLC for free
Up-and-coming artists offer free tracks as 360 exclusive
Harmonix is promoting some of the new artists on Rock Band Network by releasing a free "megamix" of Rock Band 2 songs for free.
RBN enables any band to create Rock Band versions of their songs and flog them on the Rock Band Store. "Twelve up-and-coming independent acts have joined forces to bring you this unprecedented sampler of what RBN has to offer," says the press release. "Edited by Scratching The Itch, this just may be the most epic track to appear in any music game!"
And perhaps the one with the most alarming name attached to it, we wouldn't wonder. Anyway, it's on the Rock Band Store right now for nowt, exclusive to Xbox 360, and includes these fine tracks:
Rose Of Jericho - "Buried Cold"
James William Roy - "Paper Valentines"
Glass Hammer - "Sleep On"
Robby Suavé - "Everyone I Know Is An Alcoholic"
Scratching The Itch - "End Of This"
You Shriek - "No Heroes"
Voodoo Pharmacology - "Minnesota"
Chrome Coma - "Bow Down"
Freen In Green - "Frontier Factory"
Paul Henry Smith & The Fauxharmonic Orchestra - "Night On Bald Mountain"
Counterfeit Pennies - "Five More Minutes"
Single White Infidel - "Inheritance"
If you'll only consider chart music, then there's plenty of that too. This week's additions are country tracks from Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, and Lady Antebellum. Whoever they are. Apparently that takes the store up to 1,580 songs.
free songs, count me in!

Early Snoop is awesome, new Snoop not so much and unless it's a crossover rock/hip hop track, Aerosmith & Run DMC or Anthrax & Public Enemy for example, then for me hip hop should not be included in Rock Band no matter how good the songs might be, Beastie Boys are an exception of course. :)

Bon Jovi DLC for Rock Band 3
A selection of Bon Jovi's biggest hits are heading to Rock Band 3 as post-launch DLC, developer Harmonix has revealed.
MCV originally reported that the stadium rockers' forthcoming Greatest Hits set would be appearing on the Rock Band Store in its entirety but Harmonix has since clarified that only a selection of tracks from the 28 song double disc set will appear.
A spokesperson from Harmonix told the official Rock Band forum, "Don't expect a huge multi-disc album release though, as the Surgeon General has determined that anything more than 12 tracks of Bon Jovi in a single pack could contain potentially dangerous levels of swoon when downloaded by women, and result in deadly amounts of 'good hair envy' in men."
No word on which tracks have been selected or when exactly they'll be available, but Greatest Hits – The Ultimate Collection arrives in record stores on 8th November so expect a release around then.
There are already a handful of Bon Jovi tracks up for download on the Rock Band Store – Wanted Dead Or Alive, You Give Love A Bad Name and Livin' On A Prayer.
Rock Band 3 takes to the stage on DS, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 from 29th October.

love a bit of bon jovi ;D

Harmonix moves Rock Band DLC devs over to unannounced projects
5-year-old DLC onslaught finally comes to an end
Harmonix has announced that it will cease to release DLC for Rock Band and its various sequels past 2nd April, in order to make room for work on unannounced games. So ends an add-on roll-out that has lasted over five years, encompassing over 4000 downloadable songs. Thanks for the memories, chaps.
"As you may have seen in our recent announcement regarding the release of Rock Band Blitz tracks as singles, Rock Band DLC production has gradually slowed over the past 5 years," reads a post on the Rock Band forums (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233673). "We've managed to maintain a consistent release schedule for a staggering 275 consecutive weeks, releasing over 4,000 songs for the Rock Band Platform, but in recent months we've scaled production down as we've transitioned resources onto other projects.
"With several new titles in development and developers needed to usher these new games along, April 2nd will be the last weekly DLC release for Rock Band. While there is no content currently scheduled beyond April 2nd, we still have DLC releases lined up for the next few weeks, including the remaining tracks from RB Blitz, several Pro guitar upgrades, and a handful of artists who have not yet appeared in Rock Band."
Curious as to what those new games might be? Here's a hint: Harmonix job listings posted last year point to "real-time, single-player combat experiences for a brand new IP on next-generation hardware". It's likely a new Dance Central game is in development, too, given the franchise's not inconsiderable popularity.
"We're incredibly proud of the DLC milestones we've set," the post goes on. "Especially producing the largest music library of any game available, and we wouldn't have been able to release as much outstanding content without the support of our amazing community. As thanks to the community, we're going to continue the ongoing DLC sale of 50% off over 1,100 songs so fans can continue to build their personal libraries from our back catalog."
"We hope that you'll all agree that this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it's a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of. We're going to continue to support the forums and RockBand.com and hope to still see you rocking out online, in photos of Rock Band parties shared on Twitter and Facebook, or here on the forums.
"Whether you waited in line for a midnight release of Rock Band over 5 years ago, or you just joined the party with Rock Band Blitz... whether you've downloaded every single song we've ever released, or you've just played on disc songs until your neighbors moved away... whether you're a metal shredder, or a bubblegum pop singer... thank you for being a part of our band."
In the words of Semisonic, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.
Wow.
I personally stopped buying Rock Band DLC after a super huge sale they had a year or so ago. I bought more than I would probably ever play.
