I noticed a few of you guys here have tremendously high gamerscores. This leaves me thinking one of two things:
1. You have sh*t-loads of money to buy enough games to fill a small warehouse.
or
2. You've modded your consoles and downloaded games 'til your hearts content.
Just curious, I'm not going to turn you all in to rozzers or nothing. I personally have a few consoles modded (Wii, DS and PSP) though not my XBox (yet).
The only ones with monster gamerscores are Failed & Crak...as far as I know neither have modded their console. They just have far too much free time and make use of their own game store and Lovefilm respectively.
Luke's right, Lovefilm is the reason my gamerscore is what it is, i've been a member for just over 2 years and had about 60 games off them and still have over 45 games on my rental list, i'll never mod my console.
...and i run an independent gaming store (plus DVD's) and can play games all day in work.
Living the Dream.

FIXED
thanks Luke, where would i be without you ??
That clears that up then. Playing games all day at work eh? Sweet.
I try to avoid racing games, although i love them, i have to pause often so i tend to hit walls or miss corners when i unpause.
But the main problem is the fact that they have turned most of the members here into score whores!
Just check out some of the games they've played!
I would'nt lower myself to that and play games to be enjoyed-like avatar etc. :P
Nah,I just enjoy playing and trying to finish games-just got too many at the moment!
I've finished Avatar, i didn't just play it for the easy G. Like i've said previously, it was a semi-decent platformer with some good puzzles and simple combat.
You don't often have to recommend a game to people who game often. You do have to recommend games all the time to mums buying games for their younger kids, so it helps i've played stuff like Wall-E and Open Season. The gamerscore is just a bonus.
That's my story and i'm sticking to it :P
My Xbox 360 is my pride-and-joy. I would never molest it with modware.
...
However, I've molested the hell out of my Wii, DS and PSP. Check out the OTHER FORMATS FORUM (http://360fahrenheit.com/fahrenh1_forum1/index.php#4) for previous discussions.
I've considered modding my PS3, perhaps with the Linux softmod, but I may have missed the boat on that after updating my firmware.
The irony of it all ... I buy & play games more for my Xbox 360 than all other consoles combined. Even considering I can play anything on them for free. :D

good point, I'm the same. I thinkYbe it's something to do with wanting do get as much out of a game as you can once you've paid for it. If it's cost you 40 quid you're more likely to perservere with it.
For those that skip the 360DF homepage before visiting the forum, TJ posted a news blip about [up to] 1 million consoles banned for piracy (http://www.360fahrenheit.com/fahrenh1_joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=161:up-to-one-million-xbox-live-accounts-banned&catid=47:gaming-news&Itemid=165).
I frequent the xbox.com forums as well, and this week has been crazypants over there. So many people posting "Why doesnt _____ work on my console." This is quickly followed by someone asking, "Was your console banned?" Queue silence.

Wow yesterday(On craigslist) i found and awsome offer which i took up instantly. it seem my disk drive is the root of all evil and a local techi offer to fix this problem for a small fee of $40. He said he could fix it in under an hr. yikes thats brilliant. do you know what he said next? ''I can mod it for an extra $30 plus add any two games to your consel im playing L4D 2 RIGHT NOW!!!!" It was tempting till he mentioned millions of xboxes are being banned for early online play..but still oh so tempting.

Don't do it.
People are getting banned for "modding", not for "early online play". If you decide to mod your console,
NEVER SIGN IT INTO XBOX LIVE!

I understand why you want to though. My boyfriend keeps asking to do it to my xbox. Not a chance. I love my elite know amd I love xbox live :)
theres already people back on Live with modded consoles since the bans, doesn't take people long to work around stuff!

They will catch them eventually, and would you waste £200 to try to get around them? lol..
Plus in my opinion modding is stupid, if you like a game you should pay the retail price so the developer can continue to make quality games! Its like investing your money. Only you get entertainment instead of financial gain.
Not to sound like a hippocrit but back in the day though when online gaming wasnt so high It wasnt so bad, (PSone and PS2 era). But now with mods on your xbox etc you could get stuff like autoaimbots, cheats, etc. Making online games unfair!
Theres always alternatives to buying a game straight away such as renting or buying it and returning it to the shop if its crap!

Get ready to pull your jaw back off the floor. It seems the recent dramatic headlines of 'One-Million Xbox Live Users Banned' may have been over-dramatic, according to Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten.
In an interview for Venturebeat, the Microsoft man said that the numbers of gamers banned for using modded consoles was nowhere near a million.
Whitten said: "We didn't release the number [of one-million banned modders]. I cannot explain to you why people would think it was a million people. It wasn't a million people. Check the veracity of that claim. It was one news source."
So there you have it, it seems there's been a bit of Sunday Paper-esque tabloid-ery, that consequently ripped through the industry like wildfire. As Whitten implies, the actual figure of people banned would seem to be a lot smaller than those original reports.
Meanwhile, in further developments, the Boutique law firm Abington IP has launched a lawsuit against Microsoft, accusing the giant of delaying the Xbox Live bans until AFTER the release of AAA titles such as Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2.
It believes it wanted to secure maximum new Live subscriptions before punishing owners of modded machines. It's asking banned Xbox Live subscribers who didn't get refunded, to lend their names to the cause.
The site reads: "If you are an Xbox Live subscriber, had your modified Xbox console banned from Xbox Live, were not refunded a prorated sum for the time left on your subscription or have experienced other problems as a result of being banned, and would like to participate in a class action against Microsoft, please submit your information below."
Which on both sides, makes for very interesting reading, especially as the lawsuit seems to be encouraging 'suspected game pirates' to counter-punish Microsoft for its own questionable dealings. Doesn't it? Thoughts please!
intresting...so i moding still a bad idea or it worth the risk? no much time left to decide lol
