About f****ing time!
No movie
No revamped cartoon
Just a direct Transformer IP -> Videogame
Beautiful. Although it sort of looks like they based the character models on the latest Transformer cartoon incarnation. Hopefully that's only a coincidence and not a bad sign.

oh noes! it's a game based on a cartoon!

You always know what I want to hear. 8)
If anyone would liek to watch the entire movie, see below. Merry Christmas.
dammit neato, i started watching it!!
I had to watch the ending, did a lil' air guitar solo for my dead homeboy autobots!
You got the touch, you got the power.
When all hells breaking loose, you'll be right there in the eye of the storm.
Shoulda been number 1!!
Transformers staying home for Transformers: War for Cybertron
The latest Transformers game, War for Cybertron, takes place before the Autobots and Decepticons arrived on Earth. As such, they have no concept of our Earth "trucks" and "awesome jets," and can only transform into ... things that look pretty much like trucks and awesome jets, but alien.
The teaser after the break introduces the setting for the new High Moon-developed title, and Game Informer promises more info on its constantly updating War for Cybertron hub page. If the new locale and exotic transformations don't grab you, think about this: all humans are millions of miles away from Cybertron, so unlike the movies, you'll actually get to see the Transformers in this game.
Transformers: War for Cybertron pre-order includes Shockwave or Demolishor
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/04/shockwave580.jpg)
Playable versions of Decepticons Shockwave and Demolisher are part of Activision's pre-order bonuses for Transformers: War for Cybertron. Squishy humans who pre-order through Amazon will receive an unlock code for Demolishor, while GameStop customers receive a code for Megatron's cold and calculating companion, Shockwave. (Sorry, Amazon, there's just no competition here.)
The bonus codes are available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 deployments of the game. Wii's Transformers: Cybertron Adventures currently has no announced pre-order bonus.
Now this game is gonna be awesome! I have actually really enjoyed the transformer games so far! and by looking at trailers this is gonna be carnage! ;D

Jazz Comes Late To The War For Cybertron Preorder Exclusive Party(http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/04/500x_jazz.jpg)
It seems to me that you'd want to announce all of your retailer preorder exclusive items at the same time, to avoid shutting out one particular store, but here comes Jazz, ready to fight multiplayer battles for Best Buy customers.
Activision revealed Shockwave as the GameStop preorder bonus multiplayer character for Transformers: War for Cybertron back in February, which had me slip my local store a fiver on the spot. I wasn't too worried about Amazon.com's exclusive character, Demolishor, as I've never been fond of the character and still can't wrap my head around preordering a video game for delivery.
But this just isn't fair. Jazz? Jazz is one of my all-time favorite characters. I nearly cried during the first Transformers live-action movie, and he wasn't even the real Jazz!
Should I switch my preorder, risking dirty looks from my local GameStop manager, or suffer in silence, crying myself to sleep every night, cradling my G1 Jazz delicately in my arms?
Demolishor / Demolisher (Amazon)Jazz (Best Buy)Shockwave (GameStop)Personally, I want them all. ;D If the preorder codes aren't inside the box, I may preorder from all 3 and return 2 of them (if I can't find codes on cheapassgamer.com (http://cheapassgamer.com)).
If I end up having to settle for just one, I pick Shockwave.
They might come out as a DLC package .... well we live in hope :)

Pretty good fun, feels a little unbalanced though. Hope they get it right :-\
High Moon Studios recently announced that they will be hosting a double XP weekend starting tomorrow, July 2nd at 9 PM EST/6 PM PST. This event will run through Sunday, July 4th.
If you have this it's time to get cracking on the get all classes to level 25 and then you can Prestige .... god everyone's doing it
Got this from Lovefilm yesterday, only done the first Decepticon level, not too bad so far, won't be touching the online though.
You should atleast try it once ...
Got it last week and love it. Haven't had much chance to play it though. Multiplayer is a blast, although the 'Horde' mode is pretty poo, as you can't choose to start on a previously completed Wave, although there is only 15, got to Wave 12 before all my team died. :(
Wow got to admit some of the Fan reviews are very nice, Red was telling me the other day Gamespot gave it a really shitty review.... don't take there word for it, the fans love it!! ;D

I have 1 more free rental from Blockbuster. I want Split/Second but if that isn't available (4 weeks since i last saw it in BB) i will get this instead.

The Decepticon portion of the campaign is the worst. It greatly improves when you take control of the Autobots.
Also, the Multiplayer beats all of the above (according to reviews).

I very rarely do with rentals, though if I like the game enough, I have only done one level so far, then i'll give the online a blast.
First Impressions:
This games is a very pleasant surprise. It is to the Transformer franchise what Batman Arkham Asylum was to the Batman franchise. It's not as good as Batman AA, but it is certainly the best Transformers game released to-date.
The gameplay is very basic - run&gun 3rd-person shooter. The controls is really where the game shines. It's like Batman AA in the way it makes you feel like the character. Everything is so fluid and simple, unlike so many Transformer games before.
You are free to transform whenever you want, which adds a much needed depth and realism to combat. There is pop-up auto-aim (Modern Warfare, RDR, etc.) but it is not 100% accurate so you still have to have a certain level of skill to actually kill things (which is nice).
The dialogue is great! I actually laughed a few times while playing the Decepticon campaign, listening to everyone talk to eachother. By the way, Megatron is a complete psychopath, which makes him a fantastic villian (and awesome military leader). The characters are so much more relatable in this game than the movies, previous games, and even the animated series.
Achievements are fairly easy. Most are acquired without effort while playing. Each Chapter has a single hidden task to complete, and there is one Collectible achievement that spans across the entire campaign. Everything is laid out simply at X360A.org (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=238349).
I'm only 1/2 through the single-player portion of the game. I've heard the multiplayer is where the game really shines, so I'm looking forward to playing it once I finished the Autobot campaign.

My favorite was always Soundwave.

If I looked hard enough, I bet I probably still have the toy and a bunch of his cassette minions somewhere in storage. I used to play with those for hours. ;D
I was too old to play with toys by the time transformers came out, i feel old now :-[

You're not that old. Transformers came out in 1984, which would have made you about 10? Perhaps Transformers weren't released in the UK until later?
Soundwave in the new game sounds awesome as does the narrator, who sounds like the narrator from the original better movie

I played through both campaigns under Easy. You can get the Hard achievements by simply loading and finishing each chapter's final checkpoint on Hard.
If you haven't already, go through both campaigns on Easy. Then we'll tackle the Hard checkpoints together tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday before you take it back on Monday. :)
I'm playing through on Normal, but i'll definately be cheap and do the last checkpoints on Hard.

Might rent it again just to get the extra achievements. :)
Double XP Weekend (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/29/transformers-war-for-cybertron-offers-double-xp-this-weekend/)
I will be absolutely hammering Transformers this weekend. Need all campaign completed and to take a big chunk of MP down with me all before Monday!
I'm playing Chapter 2 in work and dropping out the sky as Starscream and smashing those dirty Autobots in the head is super fun, really enjoying it. Depending on how my weekend rolls out, i might rent it for another week!
chapter 3 synopsis
megatron was all like smash some stuff and kill these dirty autobots, so i was like PEW PEW, take that and then i was all like i must save my friend and jumped off a huge building and landed and was like PEW PEW, and the autobots were like GAR URRGG DEAD and Megatron was all 'yeh, you did ok' and i was like PEW PEW kill some more PEW PEW
The Decepticon campaign got some negative reviews because of the dull atmosphere. But I admit I had a lot more fun being a Decepticon than an Autobot.
Megatron was batsh** insane, and I loved every minute of it. ;D

I loved the campaign. The NPC conversations had me smiling the entire time.
However, I grew up with the Transformers so there's a strong nostalgia factor for me. You're a little younger, so you may not feel the same way.
Two New Warriors Join The War For Cybertron
(http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/09/500x_zetaprime.jpg)
The second pack of downloadable content for Transformers: War for Cybertron drops today, with five new multiplayer maps and the addition of two new playable Cybertronian warriors: Zeta Prime and Dead End.
While we had plenty of warning for the first downloadable content pack for Transformers: War for Cybertron, Activision springs the second pack on us by surprise.
This second pack of downloadable content lowers the new character count from four to two but gives us five brand new maps, including two new escalation maps: Pulse for the Autobots and Static for the Decepticons. Pulse sees players taking on increasingly powerful waves of enemies while traveling through the innards of Decepticon giant Trypticon, while Static gives the cunning villains a chance to lure Autobots to their doom in a multi-level series of rooms riddled with environmental traps.
The other three maps are good for standard multiplayer battles and include the picturesque Horizon, the vehicle-friendly Sector, and a ruined high rise map called Metropolis.
The pack also gives players access to former Autobot leader Zeta Prime and the Stunticon Dead End in multiplayer.
Transformers: War for Cybertron DLC pack two will be available today on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network for 800 Microsoft points or $9.99.
if i had the game i would buy all the dlc.
