I am listening to Pendulum and Propane Nightmares at the moment.Love that song-really uplifting.
Anyone else? 8)
The whir of my x-box and the new Green Day album.
I'm listening to Kasabian, all albums but mostly West Ryder Pauper Lunatics Asylum.
What do you think of 21st Century Breakdown Failed?
It isn't as good as their last album, which was their best and i still prefer their earlier stuff but it's pretty decent though.
The middle gets a bit BLEH but the start and end of the album's more YEH!
Yeah, the middle is stlll sorta meh but there's still tracks like East Jesus Nowhere and Peacemaker which are awesome!
Great album though in my opinion
Some German band called Ramstien or something. Its on our James phone :)
The only Rammstein song I know is Du hast, my brother showed me it (he's 26), pretty damn catchy! :D

Like diablo i cant get enough of kasabians new album - west ryder pauper lunatic asylum. Its very psychedelic in a modern way, which is good. Also listening to - groove armada (goodbye country hello nightclub) muse (black holes and revelations) chemical brothers (singles 93 - 03) Oasis (dig out your soul) Kasabian (empire). I am planning on buying greendays new one soon from what i've heard its worth getting, although i do prefer the early stuff.

Yea very psychedelic, but I thought the same with Me Plus One in Empire, very vintage music.
Their new albums got many great songs, they've got the fast paced ones (Fast Fuse, Take Aim, Underdog and Vlad the Impaler, love that video with Noel Fielding) then the trippy songs like Secret Alphabets (love that song, especially the way the drum kicks in at the start), and West Ryder Silver Bullet. Then they have the in-between songs like Fire (trippy verses, fast paced Chrous plus BRILLIANT video imo), Where Did All The Love Go and Ladies and Gentlemen.
Black Holes and Revelations is a great album, like all the other Muse albums, can't wait for The Resistance to come out!

You didn't mention Swarfiga. Thats the trippiest track on the whole album dude!! Muse are awesome.

I actually saw Muse about 10(?) years ago at the London Astoria supporting Live.
In case you havn't heard of them, their track Lightning Crashes reminds me of when Charlie was born.
Check out Live, they were great-gone a bit off the boil lately, but still good.
Crystal Castles are currently rocking my world, except there not rock music... :-\
I'm like Beastie and Fusion and loving the new Kasabian albumn tooooooo.
Like a few of us here i've also been listening to the new Kasabian album, pretty damn good too, Swarfiga & Underdog are very good tracks, Fire is immense & they stole the show when they performed it at Glastonbury the other week.
still listening 21st Century Breakdown, great album though i still prefer American Idiot, Relapse which for me is the worst album Em has done but it's still damn bloody good, Busta Rhymes' Back On My Bull sh*t album is pretty good too & finally The Prodigy's Invaders Must Die is quality too.
I'm listening to a strange mx of older Marilyn Manson tracks off of various albums, Linkin Park, La Roux and about a billion random tracks to make a list of music for my wedding.
The list is wide, varied and will scare some people.....Rammstein even made it on too....
Oh and music to Kuddle to!! lol ::) ::)

Prodigy are amazing live. I saw them at the nynex in manchester (now men) back in '97. They havent lost it, they were awesome at glasto this year.
One other album I'm listening to is Dream Theater's new one,Black Clouds and Silver Linings.
Great bit of prog!
Also,on a similar note, whilst in Orlando (did I mention that?),they are playing Hard Rock Live on the 25Th.
And,I've got permission to go!!!! Oh yes!!! ;D
Well im revisting some of the classic Metallica Albums i have not heard in awhile. Master of Puppets and Re load at the mo and also the Kerrang version of Master Of Puppets. and just to piss the other half off some slipknott
Seem to be heading through a Marilyn Manson phase at the moment, which is always good.
I'm currently going through a DJ Shadow phase. Have a listen (http://www.djshadow.com/musicplayer/).
I've been listening to a bit of Pop-Punk recently, bands like Alkaline Trio, Less Than Jake, New Found Glory, Bowling For Soup, Yellowcard etc.
Also been listening to Youth & Young Manhood by Kings Of Leon, my favourite album of theirs & miles better than the new album, i bet about 75% of their "fans" have never heard it either!!!

Jason Mraz and the Killbill soundtracks on Shuffle
I'm still listening to the kasabian album. It gets better every time i hear it. Oh and a word of warning - the Arctic Monkeys soon to be released third album, entitled Humbug, is sh*t!!! Avoid at all costs people.

AHHHHHHH!
Get out of my head. For the past week or so, the Nancy Sinatra song "Bang, Bang" has been haunting me. I heard it in the background on 2 different TV shows, and I heard it while vacationing last weekend.
What is Nancy Sinatra trying to tell me??!?!?!??!! ???
Well,I had a result yesterday. While searching through my disc collection in my van ,I have an assortment of mp3 discs I listen too whilst driving to work,I stumbled across one I forgot about! So,I'm listening to Slayer-Christ Illusion,Whitesnake-Live in the Shadow of the Blues,Squeeze-Greatest Hits and KT Tunstall-Eye To The Telescope! A varied collection I know, but all good albums! Still more music on there, just not got to them yet......Might give Wings Of Plague a listen today....
Right now I can't stop listening to both Muse (can't wait for the Resistance) and The Strokes who are quite simply AWESOME! Theres those two bands as well as a little Kasabian, The Raconteurs and The White Stripes.
Tried listening to the Arctic Monkeys new album Humbug and I can't say I like it, it's way too slow and not like them one bit, there's maybe about two or three songs I like and thats it.
I agree diablo. It is all way too slow all the songs sound the same and the lyrics are crap. I mean in one song he goes on about winding an ice cream man up. Absolute piffle.
I've listened to Humbug a few more times & it's grown on me, the legend that is Josh Homme co-produced the album (you can tell) & also provides backing vocals on a few of the tracks, Homme said this of the new album "this is the record where they get weird, grow up and trip out."
For me it's a solid album, at first I wasn't sure but after a few more listens, i really like it, i think i'm the only one who does, maybe it's a Ginger thing ;D

I was recently introduced to a 'mix-tape' rap artist named Izza Kizza. He has a great touch with mixing samples, dance beats, and funny lyrics.
Since he's still "underground" you can download most of his music free from his own site (http://www.izzakizza.com/). You can also sample some of his tracks and videos on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/izzakizza).

I'm currently experiencing acute sexual arousal from the latest spinoff-bands of Jack White and Josh Homme. I bought The Dead Weather's album a while ago, but hadn't got around to listening to it until I picked up Them Crooked Vultures last week.
The Dead WeatherAffirmation in my previous suspicions that Jack White has been slowly going insane since the Stripes' album 'Elephant' released.
Them Crooked VulturesI love Josh Homme and everything he touches. Crooked Vultures has a much deeper sound than Queens, and sort of reminds me of his earlier 'Desert Sessions' works.

Lately, the circle of friends I've been hanging out with have been dragging me out of the usual rock/blues dive bars I hang out at, and throwing me into nightclubs.
At first, I didn't like it at all. Nowhere to sit. 10-minute wait for a drink. Too much noise to hear what anyone is saying.
But then something happened - the music. I've always been a fan of true hip-hop, but not the wave of party
hipster-hop. It all just sort of clicked in a good way, and I've been having a blast. Here's a couple artists (with Last.fm links) I now listen to while I wake up in the morning. Sometimes a Neato just needs to DANCE! 8)
Amanda Blank (Last.fm link) (http://www.last.fm/music/Amanda+Blank)
LMFAO (Last.fm link) (http://www.last.fm/music/lmfao)
Sorry Neato didnt like your latest offerings...Amanda Blank was irritating but I can imagine it doing well in the charts and I couldnt view the other one due to copyright restrictions... >:(
Here's one of mine current favorites, Crystal Castles:

I'm gonna give the new 30 Seconds to Mars album a listen this week along with Snoops Malice in Wonderland cd, i expect it to be a bit sh*t though as bloody hip hop killer Soulja Boy is on it, hopefully the rest of the album is good. Also gonna give Them Crooked Vultures a proper listen, brilliant so far but heard the album fully yet.
Just got the new Biffy Clyro album and it's really good.I like That Golden Rule, but the whole album is good.Even a guest appearance from Josh Homme on Bubbles.
Also got new album by Alice in Chains and Porcupine Tree. Not give them a good listen yet but both are really good.

I'm conflicted about the new frontman. I was a big fan of AIC when I was a dark brooding teenager, but I haven't heard their new songs. Have you heard the new lineup perform older AIC songs? If they can do the old songs well, I may go see them in concert later this year.
I saw Cantrell perform after AIC broke up. He did some of the top AIC songs, as well as his own album, but it just wasn't the same. :-\

Also been listening to both albums by The Dead Weather which is Jack White's newest band formed last year. some good stuff too, Jack's crazy riffs are in there of course, but he also plays drums too aswell as singing of course.
Listened to Codeine Velvet Club's new album last night too, Jon Fratelli's new band, not bad on the first listen, not a patch on The Fratellis stuff but still worth a listen, contains a cover of I Am the Resurrection by The Stone Roses which i'm not sure anyone should ever cover but it's not that bad to be honest, they've put a twist on it and it's certainly not as bad as Tatu's Smiths cover from a few years ago thats for sure.

i have been listening to Beady Eye's 3 songs and two b sides that are available on their facebook page and youtube. It's Liam Gallagher's new band, same line up as oasis but without Noel. They sound nothing like oasis though, the songs i have heard are great and i look forward to buying the album at the end of Feb.
would that be for my birthday, here hunni, look what i bought u, oh i dont like them, aw well may as well keep it for myself, you would think after 10 years u would come up with somethin better x :-*

i never do that and you know it!! I will now though!
Dead Weather and The Black Keys had a baby named
Band of Skulls. Fantastic blend of garage folk prog rock blues. I hope their 2nd album lives up to the 1st.
Have been listening to their album for a while now its excellent I thoroughly recommend it, but when i mention them to friends all i get is blank stares :'( Glad someone knows who they are
Here they are then, Liam Gallagher's new band, Beady Eye. They are all from the upcoming debut album - Different Gear, Still Speeding which will be released on the 28th of Feb. First video's song was released on 7" vinyl and limited to 4000 copies, third one released as a free download (for a limited time), the second one is their first proper single and released for download only last week, will be re released as a 7" vinyl and digital bundle both with a new B - Side towards the end of Feb. I love these songs, can't wait for the album now.
Thought i'd post this here as for me it's big news.
No More White Stripes
(http://www.aux.tv/newmusic/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/White_Stripes.jpg)
A sad day for rock music fans.
The White Stripes have called it a day.
Jack White and his ex wife Meg took to their official website to tell fans they "will make no further new recordings or perform live."
The ground-breaking duo say there are a "myriad of reasons" for the breakup.
However they highlight the main factor as to "preserve what is beautiful and special about the band."
It will come as a shock to fans who have been patiently waiting for a new studio album from an outfit who were on the defining sounds of the past 10 years.
The group has largely been inactive since 2007 when the Whites were forced to cancel a string of tour dates due to Meg's anxiety issues.
The statement read: "The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.
"The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now, and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to.
"Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.
Formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1997, the duo quickly became a globally-respected cult punk and blues act, recording hit albums like Icky Thump, White Blood Cells and Elephant.
Multi-talented Jack provided the duo's voice and buzz guitar riffs, while Meg played drums.
They released six studio albums, one live album, one concert film and one tour documentary.
Stand out tracks include the rifftastic Seven Nation Army, We Are Going To Be Friends and I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.
The band's last recording was the live album Under the Great White Northern Lights, released last year.
Over the years Jack has also focused attention on other projects, including playing with the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, jamming with Jimmy Page and The Edge, setting up his own studio in Nashville and producing records by a host of artists on his Third Man label.

No surprise to me.
The White Stripes is in my Top 50 bands of all-time. But that said, I think Jack has improved as an artist since the Stripes.
I saw them live, which is the thing I always ask myself whenever I see a band announce a breakup. I'm grateful.

Same thing here, saw them play a large scale venue (20kplus) and an intimate hall(700), both times, really an astounding sound. Sad day for sure, but seems fitting in a way.

Oh crap, I've been trying to figure it out for the last half hour. Don't know whether it may be from The Naked Time instead although I think they get in to a slapping match in that instead, Can't think of many more episodes where one of them goes "mental" that happens on the ship............. Deftones have that quality, each of their albums has an ability to grow on you gradually - I haven't listened to DiamonEyes yet, the only track I've heard is via this video:
(which makes awesome use of color and light), but I remember having the same feeling with "Saturday Night Wrist" and their self-titled album, both of which are at the top of my rotation still.

I have to admit that whatever album that was on made me like her as an artist.
There was a week where my sister had to lend me her car. In her car, the only CD's she had to listen to were that album and a bunch of children music CD's. I would have probably never bothered to actually listen to it otherwise.
I haven't fully listened to her latest album, but what I've heard from it I like.

a friend of mine who is the front man of a signed band (to an indie label) called the hidden revolution actually roadied for them when they toured the world a few years back.
I used to be a fan of The Roots, but lost interest in them a few years ago. I recently rediscovered them and decided to pick up where I left off.
A couple of my favorites from 'Rising Down'.
Next on my playlist is ... 'How I Got Over'.
Never really liked The Roots. Might give them another chance now I'm more mature... :-\

I can see why Jack may have chosen to do this. As an artist, you constantly need to challenge yourself and your audience. What better way to do this than to partner with one of the most hated performers of this generation?
It's a risk. It's a risk of alienating his fans, and possibly destroying his own career. But isn't that sort of the beauty of it?

Beastie Boys Co-Founder Adam Yauch Dead at 48
Influential rapper was diagonosed with cancer in 2009
(http://assets.rollingstone.com/assets/images/story/beastie-boys-co-founder-adam-yauch-dead-at-48-20120504/1000x306/main.jpg)
Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 48, Rolling Stone has learned. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland.
Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. The Beastie Boys had not performed live since the summer of 2009, and Yauch's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2.
Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz in 1979. The band started off as a hardcore punk group, but soon began experimenting with hip-hop. The band broke big with their first proper album, Licensed to Ill, in 1986, and further albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication cemented the band as a true superstar act.
In addition to his career with the Beastie Boys, Yauch was heavily involved in the movement to free Tibet and co-organized the Tibetan Freedom Concerts of the late Nineties. In 2002, he launched the film production company Oscilloscope Laboratories.

I have to admit this news hit me pretty hard. The Beastie Boys were a huge part of my childhood and the development of my musical taste. I never saw them live, which is something I've been trying to do for the past few years but never worked out. I'm always going to regret that.

Donna Summer dies of cancer at 63
Winner of five Grammy awards, disco queen had a string of hits in the 1970s, including Love to Love You Baby
(http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2012/5/17/1337271069858/Donna-Summer-in-1979-At-T-008.jpg)
Donna Summer, a singular vocal stylist whose string of disco hits spawned five Grammy awards and a following that has long outlived the genre, has died at age 63 of cancer.
Summer, a native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, died Thursday in Florida, according to the showbiz website TMZ, which first reported the news. A family statement later confirmed the death.
Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines, Summer broke into the music business in her early 20s as a backing singer for Three Dog Night. Her first hit, Love to Love You Baby, reached the No 2 spot on the Billboard charts in 1976. The string of hit singles that followed â€" Could It Be Magic, Last Dance, Hot Stuff and, most notably, I Feel Love â€" revolutionised 1970s disco.
In an era of disco superstars that included Gloria Gaynor, the BeeGees, and the Village People, Summer stood out for a soulful delivery that expanded her appeal beyond the dance floor. She scored her greatest successes with anthems of self-reliance and personal strength, her voice equally capable of fragility and defiant power.
As well as the five Grammys, Summer would go on to win six American Music Awards and had three multi-platinum albums.
In the early 80s, experiments with synthesizers and electronic drums carried Summer to new success. Her 1983 hit She Works Hard for the Money demonstrated that the queen of disco didn't need a mirrored ball to work her magic.
Summer's acting career included an appearance in Thank God It's Friday (1978), for which she performed her hit Last Dance. That song won Summer her first Grammy.
In a message posted on Facebook, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, paid tribute to her legacy and in particular the influence of one track. "For me, there is no doubt that her song I Feel Love had a dramatic effect on modern music. it was certainly a key influence on my work with Duran Duran.
"Together with producer Giorgio Moroder, Donna pioneered the use of electronic sequencers in dance music. Today that sound that seems so familiar, but in 1977, it was a brave new frontier. It's extremely rare that you hear one song that completely changes the way you perceive music, I Feel Love, achieved that."
Summer had been living in Nashville, Tennessee. She had three daughters and four grandchildren. Her family released a statement Thursday saying they were "at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy".
The depth of Summer's stamp on the zeitgeist was illustrated in a US Republican presidential debate earlier this year, when candidate Herman Cain quoted her in his closing statement.
"A poet once said, 'life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it's never easy when there's so much on the line'."
The words are from The Power of One, which Summer recorded as the theme song for Pokémon: The Movie 2000.

Whenever I see that video I'm reminded of its MTV debut. It was on some chatty VJ show (maybe Total Request Live or maybe predating that). After the video ended they walked over to some 15 year old girl wearing an NSync t-shirt and asked her what she thought. Obviously she didn't like it, so the VJ made some ignorant joke at Deftones' expense. That was when my love of MTV died.

Without too much mainstream fanfare, other than those who kept up with the situation, former bassist for Deftones, Chi Cheng passed away last month 4.13.13. Admittedly, I was under the impression that things were getting better (at least that's the last I'd heard). I consider myself lucky to have seen the group perform at its original strength with Chi a few times at large and small venues (where the performances were among the best I've experienced).
Below is a note from Stephen via the [Deftones Website (http://www.deftones.com/news/2013/04/15/chi)]:
QuoteThere are so many things I can say, and yet at this moment, none of it matters or compares to the loss everyone feels. There will be a hole in our lives where Chi once was. But that will be filled everyday with all of our love and memories we all have in our heart. He will always be here because of love. It's time we all give our love and best, and do our best to love. Especially ourselves, Chi would want that for everyone. All our healing will begin with love. I love you, Chi.

QuoteIn a statement, main man Trent Reznor said, “I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!â€
The current touring lineup of Nine Inch Nails features Reznor, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.

Hooker With a Penis is a good song, but it has more to do with commercialism and the record industry, Eulogy I thought hit more closely to the demagoguery being peddled, IMO.
The Game Awards is definitely getting bashed out there - too much shameless product promotion, too many musical performances, too little in the way of award presentations...but out of all that, definitely enjoyed this performance - might just be that it's always been interesting to me when gaming soundtracks are performed live -
Like most of the latest NIN stuff - slowly growing tiny legs and crawling onto my musical taste buds...

Have heard of them and some of their earlier work in the periphery, but haven't taken the dive yet. At first glance it's a bit "growly" to me, but have read that their music has aged and evolved quite well.
