Forget what you may have heard. There will be no weather, no night racing and no rallying in Forza Motorsport 3.
Those were the rumours cleared up in one swoop by Turn 10's community manager Che Chou on the game's official forums.
"No weather, night racing, or rally in the game," he said straight up. "That said, any car is up for grabs. Just because we haven't announced/shown it doesn't mean it won't make it into the game. We're just trickling out info," he went on to say.
"Painter, tuner, drag, drift scoreboards. Yes, it's all in the details. Which we haven't revealed yet," said Chou.
If you like your supercars, check out the dev diary above in which the Turn 10 team visit the 24 Hour Le Mans in France to get the track into the game. And they drive some pretty fricking sweet cars.
Game's out in October on 360.
Hopefully they can make it more exciting than 2. Although it was a comprehensive racer with lots to do, the races were a little boring and i got too dependant on the brake line.

True very true. Althought the option to turn it of is there it does make the game too easy
Great game but Career Mode is too long on Forza 2, theres something like 317 races to win which for me is a bit too much, 315 would be perfectly fine ;D
You're right about the braking line too, way too easy with it on, though races can be won quite easily without it too.

I was thinking that too, i bet they're still very time consuming again though.
Almost certainly! Have you played NFS: Shift? After the last two disappointing NFS titles I have been pleasantly surprised with this one, it looks a lot nicer and plays a lot more realistically, without being overly "realistic" (if that makes sense!!!)
Microsoft has announced that Forza Motorsport 3 owners will get a free add-on car pack and track pack too.
Each new copy will include a token card that grants you access to the Motorsports Legends Car Pack, Benchmark High Speed Ring and the returning circuit Sidewinder Proving Grounds.
The Motorsports Legends Car Pack will contain 10 cars:
•'65 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
•'64 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage
•'81 BMW M1
•'60 Chevrolet Corvette
•'69 Dodge Charger
•'57 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa
•'80 Fiat 131 Abarth
•'67 Lamborghini Miura P400
•'71 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R
•'65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
Anyone know where the cheapest place to get this is? I'm really annoyed I had to cancel my Amazon order because of my stupid car repeirs, now I'm thinking I may just chuck it on the Credit Card and to hell with it!!!
I quite like the look of it, i might play some more of Forza 2 though, that'll curb my enthusiasm for boring racing.
So in three days of playing Forza 3 I've got more achievement points already than in nearly two years of playing Forza 2! Guess the achievements are a lot easier!!! :D

nice one JT, i think i'll wait a bit before getting this, too much stuff to get through first.
It actually looks like a do'able 1000G, but I'm sure it's going to take a while to get up to level 50. I'm on level 16 already and that hasn't really taken that long but obviously the level ups increase as you go along, the one thing I can't figure out is there are two achievements for Drift races and I haven't come across any drift races so far, maybe they only unlock after a certain level but it's a bit odd.
There are no Drift races, you have to handbrake around a corner to get a drift.
But one of the achievements says something about getting 10,000 drift points (or 100,000) within one race. How are you going to know how many you've got if there's no specific race counting the points up? ???
Yeh, supposedly, it says something about rewinds too ... maybe it's Arcade mode.
I figured it out. If you click the left button on the D-Pad it brings up the Drift scoring, and then using the handbrake to brake around corners puts the car in to a drift and the scoring starts.
We got there together JT, we'd make a lovely couple :P :P
Indeed ;)
Where did you get that 'Splosion man T-Shirt from?
tis an award in Splosion Man for being awesome.
Wow, just looked on Metacritic and some of the reviews for Forza 3 are amazing, out of the top ten blurbs i must have read 'the greatest racing game ever' about 5 times.
Might have to swap SHIFT for this.
It definitely plays a lot better than Shift. :)
Haven't tried Forza 3 yet. Owned the first one on the original XBox and found it a bit boring. Borrowed Forza 2 last year and after 1 hour of playing I was almost asleep at the wheel. Let's hope Forza 3 is an improvement, I'll definitely try before I buy though. Give PGR any day.
PGR 4 is brill, be nice to have a 5th one.

Activision bought Bizarre Creations a couple of years ago so it'll be down to them, if there is a PGR5 it'll be multi platform.
bugger it then, they'll only ruin it, i'll remember it as a fond memory like a good sonic game.
Microsoft own the Project Gotham Racing brand so they would have to work with Activision and Bizzare Creations or get a new developer in. Unfortunately they seam to be concentrating on the Forza franchise nowadays so it's unlikely, PGR is x10 more fun than Forza though IMO.
Forza 3 sales surpass 1m units; premium DLC released
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/12/forza3joycastheaderimg580px.jpg)
Since it's late October launch, Forza 3 has sped into over 1 million homes worldwide, marking a commercial milestone for Turn 10's critically acclaimed racer. In conjunction with today's release of the game's second and now premium DLC car pack (the first one's always free, ain't it?), dubbed "Hot Holidays," Microsoft has tallied up some Forza 3 stats.
According to the publisher, players have so far tracked 6.6 million hours and 590 million collective miles -- no word on flats or oil changes. Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg tweets that "more than 4M [million] auction bids" have lead to "$18.7 billion" virtual dollars spent (we have to imagine at least a billion went to that gorgeous coop pictured above). Of course, Microsoft has it's eye on the real dollars, offering today's 10-car pack for 400MSP ($5). The full list of cars is posted after the break.
Additionally, a second premium pack has been confirmed for January 12, and -- wouldn't you know it -- that date coincides with the kick-off of the Detroit International Auto Show. Huh, you think that was planned?
Hot Holidays Car Pack includes:
1. 2010 Ferrari 599XX
2. 2010 Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss
3. 2010 Lamborghini LP6700-4 SV
4. 2010 Porsche Panamera Turbo
5. 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia
6. 2010 Jaguar XFR
7. 2010 Audi S4 2009 Aston Martin #007 AMR Lola
8. 2009 Audi #2 Sport Team Joest R15 TDI
9. 2010 Nissan GT-R Spec V

Microsoft has kept up a steady stream of Forza Motorsport 3 DLC since the game's release last year. Last month we have the Exotic Car Pack, April brought the Road & Track Car Pack, March gave us the Jalopnik Car Pack, and before that we had new tracks.
I should play this more. It a decent game
I should unwrap this game ;D

Forza 3 'Ultimate Collection' outed
Possible re-release planned as GT5's release draws near
Sony is about to drop the megaton bomb on the racing sim genre in form of Gran Turismo 5. It's rather fitting, then, that a currently unannounced Forza 3 'Ultimate Collection' has cropped up on the Australian OFLC ratings board site.
It would seem Microsoft may have something up its sleeve to counter the major the Sony release on November 3, hopefully stealing some (and an inevitably small proportion) of the limelight come this Christmas.
The obvious assumption is that it will be a repackaging of the flagship 360 racer will all of its downloadable content included either on the disc or in the box in redeemable code form.
For now though, nothing is confirmed.
New Forza kicks off Top Gear deal
Ultimate Collection out in October
Microsoft has just announced the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection, which kicks off a collaboration with BBC's Top Gear.
Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is made up of the game itself along with all previously released add-ons. That means the total car count comes to 500 along with more than 100 track configurations.
It also includes an Xbox Live downloadable content card giving players access to three new cars as part of "Stig's Garage Car Pack". Included in Stig's Garage are The Koenigsegg CCX, the Lecus LFA, and the Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG.
In addition, the Top Gear downloadable content will also feature an exclusive 90-minute Top Gear video from the Top Gear trio.
The relationship with Forza and Top Gear will see a number of co-promotions for the pair in the future, says MS.
"With Forza Motorsport expertise in digital automotive experiences and Top Gear's irreverent approach to car reviews and entertainment, the collaboration promises to deliver an unrivalled experience for all keen gamers and car enthusiasts," says Microsoft.
"Bringing together Top Gear and Forza Motorsport is a natural fit," said Dan Greenawalt, franchise director at Turn 10.
"Top Gear is all about automotive passion and playing around with cars which is exactly what we deliver with Forza Motorsport games. We are looking forward to collaborating with their team to bring some of what they do so well on television to our game design process."
"It's incredibly exciting to be teaming up with such a big name game," said Andy Wilman, creative director at Top Gear. "I fear we'll have to be a bit more ambitious and a bit less rubbish when dealing with these chaps."
Where this leaves the show's relationship with Gran Turismo is anyones' guess.
Forza fans turn on Turn 10
Forza fans have exploded in anger over the planned release of new cars exclusive to the Ultimate Collection of Forza 3.
Hundreds of comments litter Turn 10's blog post discussing the 10 new cars to be included in the Collection, due out on 29th October.
Last month BBC telly show Top Gear signed a "long-term" deal to collaborate on all future Forza Motorsport racing games, the first fruits of which will be evident in the Collection.
It'll include 90 minutes of edited Top Gear telly, access to Stig's Garage Car Pack - The Koenigsegg CCX, LEXUS LFA, and Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG - and an Xbox Live Top Gear theme.
The Collection bundles all of the DLC released to date. That totals around 500 cars, including 10 cars that will only be found via the Ultimate Collection.
It is the 10 exclusive cars that have driven Turn 10's community up the wall.
"Wow, so is T10 actually trying to see how much they can crap on the community that is supposedly the heart of the Forza experience?" wrote manc4life7.
"I just love that the ONLY new info on the FUC is that we were all mistaken - ALL 10 new cars are only to be found in the new edition. Wow. Just, wow."
DEADMAN GT said: "I see that they are still not catering to their current fanbase still. Hmmmm. I love Top Gear and this would be great if we could get it as DLC, but this is really taking the mickey."
And a clearly disappointed Shortt Sirket wrote: "Come on guys! I am trying to pull for you, I really am. But when you give us NO information, it gets a bit hard. Any news on the Forzalopnik Pack? Any info if these exclusive cars will be available as DLC for current owners?
"That is all we want. Just give us some info instead of blindly ignoring your user base with these practically content-free updates. We have been waiting over eight months for the Forzalopnik pack and with GT5 looming on the horizon, it is getting harder and harder to care for much longer."
Turn 10 is currently working on a Kinect-enabled Forza game (oh joy), unveiled at E3 2010.
UPDATE: Microsoft has just issued Eurogamer the following statement:
"Right now 'Stig's Garage Car Pack' is only available through the purchase of the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection. We are evaluating if and how we release the collection independent of the retail bundle and will have more to share soon."

What's the problem? What am I missing?
People moaning because they can't get 10 cars without buying the Ultimate Collection, basically. :)
Why don't they just not buy it, there are 100s of cars in the game anyway, what does it matter if they're missing a few? Clearly I'm not a car geek!!!!
Forza 3 goes Back to the Eighties
Cars made famous by cult movies Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Back to the Future are included in a Forza 3 downloadable pack due out next week.
The Community Choice Classics Car Pack includes 10 iconic cars decided by a vote from Forza fans and Jalopnik readers.
The list of cars in full:

* 1973 BMW Motorsport 2002 Turbo

* 1982 DeLorean DMC-12

Meanwhile, from 20th to 26th December, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will get exclusive Deal of the Week pricing on select Forza 3 car packs, which will all be discounted by 50 per cent.

OK, so awhile back I wokeded up the Forza 3 thread, and I can'ts find it :-X
Anyways, I picked up the Forza 3 Ultimate and was just a wondering whats I needs to do to insure I get all that comes with it. I have the both discs installed on the hard drive (from the origianl Forza 3) and wondered if there is anything on this new set that requires me to install other than use the DLC code that was included with it?
I'm lazy to find that thread and ASS-U(neato)-ME(yours truly) may want to merge this thread with the other one ;D
Nice! ;D
