Title: Sports Videos
Post by: GamerMan316 on March 17, 2010, 08:40:23 AM
I thought i'd start a thread on our favourite sports videos, in the same way as our Gaming Videos thread.

Be a good way to see favourite moments, goals, tries, dunks, touchdowns, mistakes etc.

Here are a few of mine, I could post vids here all day long, 1999 was a great year for me & these will no doubt anger a few people on here ;D

Obvious one for the first, still get goosebumps watching it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIpdpYSeOi4

From the same season, the guy's face at the end is priceless  ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYiO7PoCZyY

Again, from the same season, crap quality but has the best commentary, none of that BBC crap
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrOyedpeZnk

Message to Chelsea fans, this is how you get behind your team when you're a goal down from the first leg  :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ5tt6_guR4

The Ginger Prince does it again  :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqP_jSrOiZY

This was on Red Cafe & personally I think this is great refereeing, because if someone did this in a 6 a side game over here, he'd have both his legs broken  :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbFH8lRdJCI

I'll post some more later  :)

Messi does a Maradona, the close control at the start is superb.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MartxbRG9yw

The above goal alongside Maradona's against England in '86

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXzXsdZJ5AQ

and we can't have some Messi magic without showing the main men at Barca before Messi became the superstar, Ronaldinho & Rivaldo

Lovejoy says it's the greatest goal ever scored.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F0HJv16eGE

One of finest hat-tricks ever scored & very important for Barca too

This isn't a video but I thought i'd share it, it's one of the most bizarre stories i've read in a while.

Rapper interested in Eagles
P Diddy could invest in Championship outfit

A spokesperson for P Diddy has confirmed to Sky Sports News that the American rap artist is interested in buying Crystal Palace.

Reports on Thursday indicated the 40-year-old New York-born hip-hop performer was looking to invest in the cash-strapped Championship club.

No further details are available on the proposed deal but a spokesperson for The Outside Organisation confirmed P Diddy's interest in the Championship club to Sky Sports News' chief news reporter Bryan Swanson.

Crystal Palace administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has been unavailable for comment on whether the US rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, has been in direct contact with him over a bid.

The club went into administration on 26th January.

According to his spokesperson, P Diddy "isn't available for interviews" on the matter.

Bored watching Sicknote talking at half time during the Spurs Fulham game so I went on a Beckham nostalgia trip on youtube, here are all of his goals for United, starts with his first against Galatasaray with the late, great Brian Moore on commentary, finished off with his final goal against Everton.  United legend through & through, i'll post all his Real Madrid goals if I can find them  :)

I remember that well, he was great at missing easy chances, one at Rovers from a yard out springs to mind but then he made the scousers cry so we didn't mind and look at him now, amazingly one of the best strikers in Europe.  Took him 27 games to get his first goal for us, but he scored some important goals and some bloody great goals for us too and his song is still sung at OT and especially Anfield  ;D

Here's a nice tribute to his United days and includes his goals at Anfield that gave him cult status and his fantastic winner in the last minute against Chelsea that pushed us on the title in 2003.   :)

Love that Zola goal. Legend he was for us, Falling on hard times down at West Ham at the moment though. Kind of hard for me, As I love Zola (and Clarke) and wish them all the best, But I hate West Ham (along with Arsenal and Tottenham) and would have to laugh at them going down.

Another great Chelsea goal, Mario Stanic on his debut, Though we had brought some player, Then he did f*ck all for the rest of his 3 years.

As soon as Agent Forlan scored against the dippers in front of the kop tonight, I thought of this, sure them losing won't help them get a result against Chelsea which would help Utd out on Sunday, but it's still so damn funny  ;D

Liverpool won't roll over, a European spot is still up for grabs, if 4th is still a possibility then you'll be trying your hardest to take it, you might also miss out on Europe completely if you fail to get anything from the last 2 games, Everton are breathing down your necks.

Liverpool players will want to win the game, it's that simple, end the season on a positive and then rebuild, still can't see anything other than a Chelsea win though.

Don't worry about a thing sambo. Look at the facts...

Torres is out.
We'll be fucked after the ET against Atletico.
Fourth place is such a long shot, the players probably already know it's gone.
Giving the title to the mancs and allowing them the outright lead in titles won is too much for the fans to bear, I would think the players feel the same.
Torres is out.
Your boys are scoring goals for fun.
Most of our team will be saving themselves for the World Cup, already on their summer holidays, or plotting their transfer away from the club.
Rafa probably doesn't really give a f*ck.
Oh, and did I menion Torres is out?

Liverpool are like a cheap backstreet whore. Every fecking drunk has been through them this season and now they lay down and let the rent-boy's have a good old poke.  ;D

To be fair, they were playing quite well until Stevie Me's back pass & then it was all Chelsea, took 92 minutes at home to have a shot on target, just not good enough & I was right earlier in the thread, I could only see a Chelsea win in this match.

Looks like it's Chelsea's title this season, if so, well done, rather them win it than the Dippers thats for sure.

Yeah, don't know who all was playing, but I think it's the history of the park that makes it a cool thing for the kid. With this lockout going on, the ground's pretty open to maybe have some more NBA-ers drop into this kind of thing. A friend of mine's got it on Blu-Ray and promised to let me borrow it a while back... should hit him back up for it. Or just break down and try to find it again on rental, as I remember it was a bit difficult to track down. Thanks for the reminder tho!   :D

i didn't  have anyone to rage quit on  >_<

i'd rage like that too though tbh, when United lost to Barcelona (again) i had to back to a fancy dress party and the DJ there played 'You'll Never Win a Thing' (read: Walk Along) and then 'Come On You Reds'. It's  a United song but they knew why they played it and i knew .... and i raged.

This is steadily turning into an un-funny joke, at the NFL's own expense.  Don't really have a dog in this fight, but this was a damn horrible shame...they really need to sort out this ref lock-out situation.

Only a matter of time sadly, only just seen it this morning, great effort on the hail mary but it clearly shouldn't be a TD, also there was offensive pass interference from Tate too, another missed call.  Another big call will be blown no doubt before the lock-out problem is sorted.

Steve Mariucci talking about the call on NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/0ap2000000066003/Mariucci-We-re-gonna-talk-about-this-for-a-long-time?module=HP11_cp).

This is funny:

Quote
While the ball is in the air, Tate can be seen shoving Green Bay cornerback Sam Shields to the ground. This should have been a penalty for offensive pass interference, which would have ended the game. It was not called and is not reviewable in instant replay.

It's not like that was the only missed or messed up PI call made, earlier there was one called on the Seahawks which was a phantom PI and just before the final play, there was a PI called on Green Bay that was a complete joke.

The way this is going, they're going to have to instate instant replay on the coin toss.  :P

Quote
Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.

The result of the game is final.

In addition, Deadspin has done some digging into who these officials are -

Quote
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about these replacement officials, be they formerly amateur, arena, or lingerie, is how little we know about them. In the old days, refereeing assignments would be announced a few days before the weekend—just another page in the media packet. But now that everybody wants to talk about the refs, and learn their backstories, the NFL has made that information a lot harder to come by.

Rhone-Dunn, the back judge who had the best view of the play and initially signaled interception, is the most experienced member of the crew. Formerly a Big 12 official, he worked the Sugar Bowl back in 2007 and arena games since then. Easley, the side judge who overruled Rhone-Dunn, is a banker from California, who has officiated high school and junior college games, both football and basketball. Elliott, the head referee who should have gotten his crew together and asked them what they saw before signaling for a touchdown, is a realtor in Texas, and has worked high school, college, and indoor football.

Will this crew be disciplined? Broken up? Sent to re-education camp to watch film, or docked salary, or let go altogether? We might never know. Because the NFL wants you to put your trust in it—even after a huge Saints fan was assigned to work a Saints game, and an official who drew paychecks from the Seahawks for three years worked a Seahawks game. I know what's best for the league, Roger Goodell whispers. Forget those silly questions about the refs, and while you're at it, forget about asking what the actual Bountygate evidence is, or what the league is doing about brain trauma. Trust the NFL.

Alright, not sure how many people are tuned into the NBA or the Playoffs, but this clip surfaced recently and it's about 11 mins of James Harden of the Houston Rockets playing some lock-down defense this season. If you don't know who he is (spot out the "Beard"), you'll figure it out quickly after the first couple of cuts.
