Good list, i'd replace Booker T for Cena though, Booker does have sound wrestling skills but he never uses them, he was great in WCW and his early WWE days were good, he may be coming back too, Cena has f**k all except for little girls and boys screaming for him all the time.

I just never liked Booker T, He always had some skills, It was his presence that put me off, All his best work for me was when he was at the buck of jokes IE. The Rock and Stone Cold even his stint with Golddust was only over thanks to Golddust.
As for Cena He is not the most Talented of wrestlers and is a poor champion compared to champs of old, And I'm certainly not a big fan of his but he has a little bit of believability in him, Some ring presence or emotion more so than someone like Batista.

Good point mate, the Stone Cold & Booker fight in the Shopping Centre was pretty awesome though & it's the first thing i think about when anyone mentions the Book.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsxyZ58VWxg

Good point with Cena too, he seems like a nice guy & doesn't have the huge ego that makes him hated in the locker room like Hogan.  I preferred him as a heel but he makes the company so much money as a face (only Stone Cold has made the company more) that he'll never go heel again, but the response with the fans is spilt so it's like he's both a face & a heel, the WWE struck gold with this guy.

With the PG rating that WWE has now Cena just fits the bill, The likes of Austin and Degenartion X would not be able to do half the stuff they got away with back then.

Back to Booker T And how even Golddust you to upstage him.

Here are a few to get us going, my favourite, Stone Cold coming out to help Mankind against The Rock, can't seem to find it on youtube but i'll keep looking.

Cena returning at the Rumble last year, nobody expecting him to be there because of his injury

Tazz WWF Debut against Angle at Madison Square Garden, great heat on Angle too!

If Cena Wins We Riot - RVD vs Cena at ECW One Night Stand for the WWE Title, crazy heat on Cena.

Jericho's Raw debut

Have watched Kane on smack down on sat starting to look chubby and slow now. Back in the day he used to beat people easily now when he does a move it looks slow and like he is having trouble. Not the big red machine i remember  the one that would walk through hell fire and brimstone.

He's in his 40's now and i read somewhere that he needs hip surgery, but keeps putting it off, that'll restrict his mobility quite a lot.

The Brothers of Destruction, they were cool, i think Kane needs to become more of a part time wrestler like Taker so he has more time to rest up, Taker is 44 now and is now almost an MMA style wrestler like Angle and he's bloody good at it too.

I think I read that Kane (Glenn Jacobs) is heavily into politics now, Would not surprise if he were to retire in the next few years, So he maybe is putting off any surgery until then.

i think i read that somewhere too, maybe on on of JR's blogs, there were also rumours of him going to TNA because the lightened workload but he shot them down very quickly.

Have any of you guy's ever watched a programme called OFF THE RECORD. It is a Canadian talk show about sports hosted by a guy called Michael Landsberg, Anyway they often have wrestlers on, Giving very good interviews. You can catch them all on You tube.

Post by: GamerMan316 on October 12, 2009, 09:28:41 AM
I've seen Michael Landsberg before but never seen this show, good interview too.

Bischoff at the start is priceless, obviously mega upset that a guy that he let go becomes bigger than all of WCW combined, in all that time WCW only made one huge star and that was Goldberg but it still wasn't enough.

Have you seen the Monday Night Wars dvd?  Fantastic documentary about the Monday Night Wars, essential viewing for all wrestling fans.

Watched it on you tube it was very cool. I think its a shame that the two did not combine sooner i would love to have seen sting up agaist taker. Im sure taker would win but it would have been cool. Wwe is good but its not as good as the mid 90's were thats when things really got good in wrestling. We should all buy a copy and wrestle each other in knock out tournament lol      relive some of the glory days

The problem when Vince bought WCW is that all the top wrestlers were on guaranteed contracts, so they would get paid regardless which is why the majority of them never signed with WWE, they were happy to sit around and get money, Sting was offered a contract but turned it down, Goldberg was the only big star who signed with the company, excluding the guys who had been there previously (Hogan, Nash, Hall etc.) but he was only there for 1 year & despite a good start, his feud with The Rock, it was deemed a failure.
Title: Re: The Wrestling Thread
Post by: sambo on October 12, 2009, 11:58:16 AM
Vince would never have given the WCW stars a big push. Why would he jeopardise the WWE locker room that had just helped him beat WCW in the ratings war. I don't think he would have booked Goldberg to get the better of The Rock, Even the NWO were booked to fail, The only reason Hogan's comeback succeeded was because the fans demanded it.

The whole NWO thing wasn't great bar the odd promo, as soon as Hogan turned face again that was it, i suppose Vince was always going to bury them.

i have seen that one before. i hate shawn micheals. In fact most of the dressing room hated him in the 90's. he was very arrogant and rude to the other wrestlers and he had a major drink and drugs problem that got him into all sorts of bother outside of the ring including threatening to punch a woman in the face at a bar after an argument. it's a shame he had/has such a bad attitude because there is no questioning his wrestling ability. On another note my two most over rated wrestlers are Hulk Hogan, and Ultimate Warrior with warrior being the most over rated. If you watch his matches now the only moves he ever seemed to do were clotheslines and shoulder barges. Also he was a prick in the dressing room, he once refused to sign an autograph for a young boy who was dying of cancer after making the lad and his family wait for hours.

nice find sambo.

that is a good find, the Fink calls him Kane then pauses before he says The Undertaker, according to wrestleview.com, he debuted at Survivor Series as The Undertaker (common knowledge of course) but later at house shows and other TV shows he was billed as Kane the Undertaker, Kane was dropped a while later.

Not with a one trick pony that can't wrestle they won't, it'll just turn into a 20 minute posing session for the crowd after each match, the Hogan marks will love it, everyone else will hate it, getting Bischoff is a good move though.

Hogan is a legend, Who put wrestling were it is today, But For F**ks sake let it die, He is well past it, And I mean past it 5 years ago. TNA should be looking towards it's younger stars not pushing old men. I can see a WCW all over again.

Hogan is 56 now & to be fair has been past it for well over a decade, other than bringing in some new fans and selling t-shirts, what else can he bring to TNA? he's always been a poor worker, his age and injuries aren't gonna help and he'll want top billing straight away because he still thinks he's the biggest draw in wrestling (i doubt he's even top 5 all time), i suppose they could have him feud with Sting or Angle, but then thats something we've seen before.
Title: Re: The Wrestling Thread

I take it your not a Hogan fan GM, And while I agree he will bring nothing to TNA apart from feuds we have seen before played out worse than they were first time round. I do believe Hogan was a top draw in his day, And even in his return to WWE, The pop he recieved in his Wrestlemania match with The Rock was amazing. I agree he has never been a great worker on the wrestling side of things but in terms of entertainment he was one of the best.
  Some of Hogans biggest moments.

Hogan was indeed a top draw, until Stone Cold came along he was the WWF's most profitable superstar, i always liked him when i was younger though i preferred Bret Hart and The Undertaker (Hart hates Hogan btw), as wrestling got more technical and flashy, maybe i just went off him, saying that though, if i was at a live show & his music came on, i'd probably still mark out like a 10 year old boy for him  :)

I recently watched The Rise & Fall of WCW on dvd, not quite as good as The Rise & Fall of ECW dvd but still a good doc on how WCW grew from Jim Crockett Promotions and the old NWA to eventually overtaking WWF on Monday Nights to how backstage politics and poor management killed the company.

Some quality matches on there too featuring the likes of Sting, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, The Steiners, Hogan, Goldberg, DDP.  The match were Goldberg first became World Champ against Hogan in the Georgia Dome isn't on there but it's in the documentary.

All in all, very good dvd though quite a bit of it is already mentioned in the excellent Monday Night Wars dvd.

Bret's a legend, his work in WCW wasn't close to his old WWF days, though his match with Benoit was a surefire classic.  Sting was great too, Goldberg was just a beast, his ring entrances lasted longer than most of his matches  :)

Oh yes, Vince pulling out the big guns as TNA are going head to head with WWE on Monday Night and as much as Hogan is still a big name, there is no chance in hell that TNA can top The Hitman returning to WWE after nearly 13 years.

Sheamus winning the title from Cena was a good thing originally but it happened too soon, he gets no heat at all from the crowd, they boo him for a few seconds then just go quiet, Bret Hart is more over than Sheamus and the majority of the crappy dead crowds these days don't even know who Bret is!!!

As for the Elimination Chamber, Jericho to win the title & set up a match with Edge at Mania, we've already had Edge v Taker so I don't see Taker keeping the title, plus the E never keep Taker as champ for long anyway.

Raw's Chamber match is more fun, Sheamus will somehow win it & face HHH at Mania, i'd like Orton to win it though as he's super over at the moment.

The Bret/Vince angle is just terrible, Bret has no charisma at all & Vince is carrying the whole thing which is probably why they added Batista and Cena to the mix, Bret can't work a match, Vince is in his 60's so they'll be kind of enforcers in a Batista/Cena match & it will end up with Bret putting the sharpshooter on Vince to end the match and everyone will be happy.

Which would leave Taker & HBK to have their Mania rematch, i'm sure it will be a great match, i'm not sure it's the right thing to do though, Bret screwing Shawn in the match would be awesome though ;D

HHH likes Sheamus, hence the push, but anyone that takes the strap off Cena is fine in my book & he has ginger hair :)

He was actually a very good indie wrestler in the UK before WWE signed him, Hunter has obviously seen something in him or he'd be staring at the lights to the people like MVP and Santino for the rest of his career.

I've not really watched much wrestling lately (for about a year actually), I still love the sport/entertainment, But WWE is in a poor state at the moment talent wise, As I said I have not watched lately so I maybe missing out on some of the newer guy's, But no one really entertains me anymore, Only the older guy's Taker, HHH, Michaels etc, And we have seen all their best stuff. It just shows the lack of talent in the dressing room that the older guys are still the main draw.
But, with Wrestlemania coming up, My interest always pops back, So I was wondering what are your favourite Wrestlemania's, Matches and Moments from times past.

Taker/Foley was an unbelievable match for pure wow factor (although it was King of the Ring, And not wrestlemania). The punishment Foley put his body through to entertain was unbelievable and way past the call of duty. Also the fact that Taker had a broken ankle going into the match made this match a classic. WWE would not put a match out like this anymore.

I agree WWE is in a mess , but they no longer have a proper rival to play off.I feel TNA just sign anyone that's had experiences of WWE or WCW.

Half of the new  stars have this feel like they are being push out of a plastic moulds , I miss Mr Kennedy he had charisma equal to The Rock.

Its really sad that Bret Hart really wants to do a storyline with Vince McMahon. If I was Bret I would have told him were to go , but of course Money talks.

I can really see this becoming a Wrestlemania match unfortunately.

My favourite Wrestlemania match was probably of been  the  Steve Austin vs The Rock at the Astrodome in Houston,TX.

What does everyone think of the guests host thing on Raw , I think it is moving the attention away from the superstars.

Post by: GamerMan316 on February 21, 2010, 05:55:41 AM
The idea for guest hosts isn't too bad, but the majority of them have been terrible, most of them have no interest in wrestling and it shows, Jeremy Piven being the main culprit, Summerfest anyone?  Shame he couldn't come out like Ari Gold and be a complete bastard but now we're in the crappy PG age of wrestling that was never gonna happen.  Stone Cold & The Rock will be guest hosting soon, they should hopefully be great episodes, but when The Rock did his skit on Smackdown late last year, the crowd response was terrible, too many Cena mark kids in the crowd, nothing like the pops he got in the past, still a great promo though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-ngmQkfy0c

As for favourite Wrestlemania moments, these spring to mind.

Stone Cold winning his first WWF Title from HBK in Boston at Mania 14.

Brock Lesnar & Kurt Angle putting on a wrestling masterclass at Mania 19, until the botched moonsault from Lesnar of course, but they still finished it well, fantastic match.

Benoit winning the title at the Garden at Mania 20, then Eddie coming out and celebrating with him was a great moment, obviously it's been tarnished by Benoit's actions since but it's still a great Mania Moment.

Edge spearing Foley through the burning table at Mania 22 was cool too  ;D

Eddie is sorely missed, superb in the ring, great on the mic, mega over with the crowd whether as a heel or face, he, like Tyson, also had his demons but did manage to overcome them to become a huge star.  Can't believe it's nearly 5 years since he died.

The worst fallback of wrestling is the early deaths. The business, Injuries and lifestyle/life choices of wrestlers takes it's toll on so many wrestlers ans there family's, It's a cruel business at times.

I know it's not the best moment, or a main event or anything, but in a similar vein to Eddie being missed, I think that Owen Hart is also sorely missed too.
He wasn't the best, or the worst. He played the heel and the face switching all the time through his history and to be honest he was nothing immense when it came to skill, but I always felt he had a good fan base and in-ring presence with the fans. He was also very good behind the scenes as well and loved throughout the business.

Owen Hart was a superb wrestler and I always preferred him to Bret, mainly because he had something Bret lacked, charisma.  Bret is of course a legend but his promos were a bit boring unless he was in Canada of course, obviously his in ring ability more than made up for that.  Owen was very good on the mic and was over as both face and heel.

As we're talking about the late, great, Owen Hart, did anyone watch the "Raw Is Owen" Monday Night Raw the night after his death?  It was a great tribute, all the wrestlers did shoot interviews for Owen and there were matches without any angles, the same thing happened on the Raw following Eddie's death.

Stone Cold ended the episode with a typically fitting tribute and Shawn Michaels said this in his autobiography "Owen is the only guy you could have a 2-hour show for, and no-one would say a bad word about him."  Praise indeed.

Quality isn't great but heres the opening to Raw Is Owen

So what have we learned for Wrestlemania.

 Jericho vs Edge?
Batista vs Cena (Possibley Triple threat with HHH)?
'Taker vs HBK (possible inclusion of Hart)?
Mysterio vs Punk (single or money in bank)
 The break up of lagacy?
Title: Re: The Wrestling Thread
Post by: GamerMan316 on February 23, 2010, 12:11:45 PM
After last nights Raw, Jericho vs Edge & HBK vs Taker are confirmed bar any changes to the matches.

Cena vs Batista is a given and means Cena will win the title again, which sucks, but he is the company's biggest money maker so it makes sense.

HHH vs Sheamus was on the the cards, but i'm not too sure now.

Punk vs Mysterio sounds like a good match, would prefer them to go it alone and not be in MITB though.

Some kind of match involving Legacy looks certain, most probably Orton vs Cody & Ted or a Triple Threat, either way theres only one winner in that match, Orton is mega over at the moment.

I'm guessing it'll be Miz & Show against MVP and Henry for the Unified Tag Titles, possibly with another team or two to make it more interesting.

If Money in the Bank is a 6 man then for me it should be Kofi, Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, Christian, John Morrison and Yoshi Tatsu, all high flyers and would make for some crazy highspots, if it's an 8 man, throw in Matt Hardy and maybe Drew McIntyre.

Oh, there will probably be some crappy divas match too and Bret screwing HBK against Taker sounds great to me, then hopefully he lays Vince out somewhere on the card too  ;D

I can't see HBK jumping to TNA, I think he'd just call it a day before going there, unless he wants another series of matches with Angle, his matches with Angle in 2005 were epic, but I just don't see it, he doesn't have anything else to prove.

You're right about Batista not being a good heel, he was a decent heel in Evolution but when you've got Hunter & Flair alongside you, you would be, the best thing Batista has done in his career was turn on Trips in 2005, they worked that angle brilliantly and he was put over perfectly by The Game in that angle, which of course led to him becoming World Champ at Wrestlemania 21.

Fair enough  :)
The only way Taker loses his streak is if he himself wants someone to break it and from reading wrestlers blogs & JR's blogs, it seems he's very proud of the streak so I think it'll be safe.

Kurt Angle remains the biggest star to jump ship which at the time was a massive coup for TNA and he had some great matches with Samoa Joe, it would be nice if Samoa Joe or AJ Styles decided TNA was too small for them and came to the WWE, don't see it ever happening and knowing what Vince is like, he'd probably bury them into the mid card somewhere like he does to the majority of his talent.

AJ and Joe would have been great additions to WWE a couple of years ago, whentheir stars were shinning bright in TNA, But TNA have even managed to down play the best two *homegrown* stars they had. Agree Vince would not have used them properly. AJ would have been great in ECW and Joe in Smackdown.

I think that TNA has made itself gimmicky to the point of absurd though.

Why do you need more than 4 sides to a ring!!!!
Title: Re: The Wrestling Thread
Post by: GamerMan316 on February 28, 2010, 07:53:54 AM
The only good thing about the six sided ring that TNA used were the Six Sides of Steel matches and the Ultimate X matches.

AMW v XXX at Turning Point in 2004 was brilliant, the quality of wrestling in a lot of cases in TNA is far superior to WWE, but some of the booking is shocking, the storylines are terrible too.

Next Monday is when TNA go head to head with the E, Hogan v Flair in a tag match, oh joy!!!  It's the first time since 2001 that WWE will have direct competition (if you can call it that) on Monday nights.

Also, Bret v Vince is confirmed for Mania 26.
Title: Re: The Wrestling Thread
Post by: sambo on March 02, 2010, 01:30:35 PM
First:
Bret v Vince is confirmed for Mania 26.  Why?   I feared this would be the case. The only good thing about this is that the 'Taker v HBK match will now not be a screw job (which would have ruined it for me). But Vince v Bret? Do we need to see this. Bret wins gets a big pop and the world is forgiven.

Second: Monday Night War:
For WWE this could be good for the short term, Will hopefully make them raise their game a little, Go a little more risky in their approach. As for TNA, Kicking off with Flair and Hogan (absolute legends) Shows bad managemnet from the start. TNA resembles WCW towards it's end day's, Not when it really took the game to WWE (WWF). IF TNA survives a year head to head with WWE with booking like that I would be surprised. TNA's only hope is to push the boat out and go down the more riskier route of Violence and Sex.

Good predictions mate, Christian is the obvious choice to win Money in the Bank especially to set up the Edge match, which will reak of awesomeness, the rest of the matches speak for themselves, except maybe the Legacy Triple Threat, depends whether Vince wants the feud to continue, Orton winning kills the feud for me.

Theres rumours of a Hair vs Mask match between Punk & Mysterio, only one winner if thats the stipulation and thats Mysterio.

Bill Goldberg: I'm In Talks With WWE

Former World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg  announced on his Twitter account this evening that he's negotiating with WWE regarding a possible return to the company.

"YES.. I am in negotiations with the WWE," Goldberg wrote. "Looks like 'ole Hogan and TNA missed the boat. Shame for the fans they didn't even try."

While Goldberg has been critical of WWE since his departure from the organization in 2004 and repeatedly said he had no interest in returning to wrestle, he acknowledged a change in heart.

"Truth is I never thought I'd even consider it...then came my son," Goldberg said. "No one said I'd wrestle but the door is open again."

He also added that if he ever steps foot inside a ring again, it will be alongside San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Shawne Merriman. The three-time Pro Bowler is a huge WWE fan to say the least, so much so that he asked their Twitter account on Monday if he could participate in the live chat on WWE.com.

"Also.... If I ever did step in the ring again, I have a new tag partner. He goes by the name of "Lights Out!!!! the one and only Shawn Merriman..... updating the old Goldberg/Kevin Greene duo," Goldberg wrote.

I posted the following report on Sunday, March 14, 2010 here on this website:

While the clip of Bill Goldberg pinning Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX was largely aired this past week on RAW to put over tomorrow night's special guest host, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, WWE has indeed been in talks with the former wrestling megastar regarding a relationship renewal.

WWE officials recognize he's not going to come back and wrestle, but they're hopeful of reaching a deal where they can use his likeness in video games and perhaps an induction into next week year's Hall of Fame class considering they are running low on "main eventers."

Next year's Hall of Fame class is expected to have a WCW theme considering that it will be taking place in Atlanta, Georgia.

This now obviously confirms our original report above.

Definitely, the Taker v HBK match saved the whole pay per view, shame Mysterio & Punk weren't given more time, they had a nice match but another 10 minutes or so more & they could have had a belter.

with a few exceptions they are all on drugs, prescription or otherwise, and or alcohol and steroids. they always have been. even the great bret hart dabbled with cocaine back in his heyday. It's due to the life of a wrestler being so hard - the loneliness of being on the road and the pain from constantly putting their bodies through hell night after night. On another note i haven't watched it much recently, it's getting a bit samey and some of the story lines are beyond ridiculous. I'm mainly referring to the stupid c m punk 'straight edge' storyline.

Cade was one of Shawn Michaels' first wrestling students. He ended up being signed to a WWE developmental deal before making it to the main roster in 2003. Cade was released from WWE after an incident on a flight where he took too many painkillers and went into a seizure. WWE ended up bringing him back but eventually released him again.

After being released, Cade claimed that WWE released him because he had asked for help with issues stemming from addictions to sleeping pills. WWE did send him to rehab but ended up releasing him, something Cade thought was unfair. It's worth noting that sources within WWE denied those claims.

A bunch of tweets below from the Hulkster, who still thinks he's the biggest draw in wrestling, the deluded fool.   ;D

On whether Hogan Knows Best will return: "Could be a new show
about my new positive life with Jennifer,Tna ,business, real friends, starting over only real stuff no haters"

On heel Hogan coming back: "never say never."

On American Gladiators coming back: "no the show was to expensive to produce when u can do the same number with a cheap reality show"

On Halloween Havoc 99 where he laid down for Sting: "those were wack times. That was the old Russo and the old me.it was all stupid"

On Steve Austin turning down his WrestleMania challenge a few years ago: "he always said if there was money to be made let's do it , I thought he was serious"

On bringing Steve Austin to TNA, because he is the biggest draw in wrestling history: "oh he is ?"

On whether he reported Jesse Ventura to Vince McMahon when Jesse was trying to form a union: "Vince already knew about it, I just said I didn't think it was a good idea. jesse a clown, at that's how the boys have though of him. he was running his mouth like usual trying to get everyone in board everyone knew"

On whether he'd be welcomed back to WWE: "all I can say is,if there's money to be made,Vince is all business"

On whose idea it was for the Mr. America character: "mine, but Vince was supposed to run with it.the hatred knew it would get over so they killed it.the first match in the garden"

On what he would do differently in life: - "get divorced instantlyafter Nick was born"

On the steroid situation in WWE in the 80s: - "horrible, that the kind of stuff most guys did before breakfast that's a shoot"

On whether Vince McMahon would send a main eventer to rehab: "Vince doesn't play games with anybody.he treats everyone the same way"

On whether anyone tried to shoot on him in the ring:"ya , couple guys.Billy Robinson and fuginami in japan"

On Bret Hart's return: "I love Brett because I know who he really is. Really glad to see him back"

On Hiro Matsuda breaking his ankle as Hogan was starting out: "30yrs ago that's how they got rid of marks in the fla territory"

On the rumour that he and Shawn Michaels fought over Shawn's overselling at SummerSlam: "Not true"

On Randy Orton: "he's got it figured out. There only very few who really get it"

On wrestling The Rock at WrestleMania: "it freaked me out when 75thousand booed him"

Hogan is a knob. Really full of himself, thinks he's it when it comes to wrestling or anything else for that matter, he is also deluded and full of crap. I liked him when i was a kid though

I read a quote somewhere from a wrestling writer who said something along the lines of "Hogan made wrestling huge but Austin made it bigger AND kept it alive", I always like that quote.

Hogan was of course huge and still is pretty damn popular, especially amongst people our age, he was WWF's biggest draw until he left and then was WCW's biggest draw for a few years too but I don't think he understands that Austin made far more money for Vince than he did whilst also being able to wrestle quite well too, unlike Hogan and his crappy leg drop finisher.  The Rock made more money too I think and wouldn't be surprised if Cena does, he's been WWE's biggest money maker for about 5 or 6 years now.

he can't let go of the fact that he isn't wrestling's biggest draw and hasn't been for a long time. Back when Bret hart started to get hugely popular hogan stopped speaking to him, and even stirred the sh*t between Bret and McMahon. Then he lied to Vince's face about what he had said about Vince to Bret, in front of Bret. He also used to sulk if he didn't get his own way with Vince, especially when Vince stopped pandering to him after he had found a new golden boy. I stopped liking hogan as soon as I was old enough to realise he was a sh*t wrestler, even before I read about his attitude backstage in various wrestling books, articles.

I won't spoil any of the PPV from last night, but it was a solid show with a strong main event.

Loads of rumours online saying that Jericho is done with the WWE and that last night's appearance at Night Of Champions will be his last with the company, also lots of talk that Booker T has signed with the WWE and will make his comeback quite soon.

Angle and his inferior to Shamrock's Ankle Lock against Bryan's Labelle Lock which may be marginally better than Benoit's Crossface, both very good technical wrestlers with MMA styles, potentially awesome.  If Angle does come back he'll most likely get put in a series with Orton, Cena or one of the top faces/heels at that time.

Following what happened aove we have this:

World Wrestling Entertainment has made an offer to Brock Lesnar to face The Undertaker  at WrestleMania. As noted earlier, the news was kept secret from the majority of the creative team, and there has been a lot of talk today with people asking what the latest was. It's thought that Lesnar will not be saying anything publicly for at least two weeks.

The offer to Brock Lesnar is for a one-night only return at WrestleMania 27.

Many people who worked for WWE at the time Lesnar decided to leave aren't happy that the UFC star is being offered a big payday to return (if that is the case - we're still not sure) for WWE's biggest event of the year. Many feel that he "crapped on the business" by walking away, especially after being given the big build up as a monster star.

There is no deal currently in place between WWE and Lesnar but the company has definitely contacted him. Lesnar's current deal with UFC wouldn't allow him to work a WWE match so Brock Lesnar, Vince McMahon and Dana White would need to work something out if anything were to happen.

I preferred Owen to Bret as he was a better heel and more athletic, Bret was obviously better technically but Owen was just more fun, the Raw following the PPV was emotional, Austin's beer salute to the titantron at the end was quality.  I still have the Eddie tribute on video somewhere, that was probably more emotional as Eddie was, just, fantastic.

I have to admit that when he was good Owen was awesome, but he did have his low points.

Cena's injury is an impact injury on his hip, so he might be out for a while though Cena always come back from injuries pretty quickly so he should be fine for the Rumble in a few weeks.

bret says this in his book, he loved owen greatly and they were very close, he felt bitter and resentful when he heard how owen had died but he eventually realised it was just a very sad accident. He still thinks that they should never have attempted that stunt though, it made it worse that owen had told him previously that he was a bit unsure about it and bret had told him that if he didn't feel right he should refuse to do it. He obviously agreed to do it in the end but no one will ever know now how much pressure he was or felt he was under to agree to it. I was devastated when i heard what happened at the time, i always preferred bret but i also loved owen, he was especially awesome as the super hero character 'The Blue Blazer' which he came up with himself. Gone, but not forgotten. x

HBK is the first Hall of Fame inductee this year, fully deserving of course.  Lots of online speculation about who else will be inducted.  As Wrestlemania is in the home of WCW this year (Atlanta) and as it's almost 10 years since Vince bought WCW, lot's of people are expecting a WCW themed Hall of Fame.  Sting has been mentioned a lot but that depends on his TNA status, he's currently a free agent but will most likely re-sign with TNA.  Goldberg has been in negotiations with WWE for a while but nobody seems to know how that's going, he could be a possibility.  Arn Anderson is apparently a certainty.

From Wrestlinginc: According to a backstage source, this week's WWE Hall of Fame inductee announcement is one of "three big ones" that have been finalized. Arn Anderson is one of those names that will be announced in the coming weeks.

Also John Cena said "ass" on Raw and the censors couldn't bleep it in time, quality!    ;D

Luger has been mentioned a lot too, not sure about the Steiners though, Legion of Doom aren't in the Hall of Fame yet, they would be ahead of the Steiners and pretty much any tag team to be fair, unless they both go in this year which would be pretty damn cool.   :)

Macho Man is always the big name that's mentioned when Mania rolls around, maybe this year could be his year, depends on whether he's made up with Vince.  Owen Hart should be in but while his wife is constantly in legal battles with WWE, that isn't gonna happen, damn shame too because he deserves to be in there.  Ron Simmons would be a great pick too.   :)

WWE Announces Major Change To Royal Rumble Format

WWE announced today on their Facebook and on their website that this year's Royal Rumble has been expanded to include 40 participants, the most ever.

The very first Royal Rumble on January 24, 1988, won by "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, had only 20 participants. Since then the Rumble has always had 30 competitors.

WWE also confirmed that the wrestlers will enter every 90 seconds.

Will The Rock Ever Return To WWE?

Former WWE talent Dwayne Johnson (a/k/a The Rock) has started a weekly feature on his official Facebook page where he'll choose fans' questions once per week to answer in depth.

When asked why he decided to leave WWE and if he's ever coming back, he bluntly states that he will never wrestle again. He does, however, note that he will appear for WWE when the timing is right.

His complete response reads:

"...to "the Rock's millions and millions"...who will forever be my family.. ..my honest and direct answer to you is this: I left the WWE because I had succeeded in accomplishing every goal I set to achieve. ...I've never done this before, but I will now because I feel it's important you know..let me share with you the goals I set for myself in the WWE so you can have a better understanding and perspective.. - become the youngest WWE World Champion - help set box office and attendance records in every arena in the country - help set PPV buy rate records ..the final two and my most important goals to achieve in wrestling: - become the most entertaining and electrifying performer the WWE had ever seen or will ever see again - take the brass ring of the WWE that Vince McMahon had faithfully allowed me to earn and take it places it had never gone before...to trailblaze...to break new ground...to achieve unprecedented greatness for not only for myself and the fans to enjoy...but for the business of professional wrestling itself and the WWE... A business and company that is in my blood and that I will love forever. ...I achieved these goals in the WWE at 30 years old and decided then to HUMBLY and QUIETLY step away and retire. ..and set my sights on another goal...a childhood dream...Hollywood. ..will I ever come back to the WWE? of course I will..not a match though, but in a capacity that would allow me to do so much more.. I LOVE that company and the fans...without the two I would not be standing where I am today... Vince and myself stay very closely connected and when the opportunity is right - which will be alot sooner than you think - we will do something electrifying and historic for the fans...he and I were toying with the idea of a special show called "ROCK RAW"... sounds like a perfect title for me to come back and SLAP THE LIPS OFF THOSE JABRONIS and LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN ON AAAAALLLLL THEIR CANDY ASSES!!! sorry...got carried away..I'll save that one of a kind electricity for Rock Raw.. ...it is important to me to say this from my heart - to the incredibly loyal "..The Rock's Millions and Millions..." and the entire WWE UNIVERSE...I am forever humbled and grateful to you for allowing me the HONOR to entertain you over the years...you have my word I will continue to entertain you in ways like no one else...it's only just the beginning... I dream big...and we've achieved those dreams together because you never left my side..I love you for that and thank you... I am Dwayne Johnson...and I will also always be The Rock."

Makes sense, Why risk an injury when he has a legit Hollywood career now. He will obviously do some kind of WWE T.V work when he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame (probably next year).

How about the Undertaker , how many wrestler come to the ring with a leather jacket like that.

According to wikipedia - Doctors said they are doing all they can for him to be healthy enough to compete at WrestleMania 27.

A lot of people are saying it could be Taker, but his comeback promo's are usually really obvious and usually have something to do with graveyards, Vince only wanted to show the promo once but showed it again to hype it up further.  Mistico has been mentioned as he's reportedly signed a contract with WWE.

There is one other HUGE star that is getting the majority of attention online and unconfirmed reports saying that he's signed a deal with WWE, the wrestler in question is who I thought of when I saw the promo, hope it's true.   :)

It won't be the Hitman, it'll be an active wrestler, the horror/thriller theme of the promo doesn't suit Hart either.

Sting is a massive wrestling star, even at 51 years old, which is why everyone is going mental over that promo and the thought of him coming to WWE for the very first time.

Sting a year in the WWE then he goes into the Hall of Fame next year.  :)

Wrestlemania suddenly has a lot more potential this year, Sting? Nash? Booker T? and possible Jericho return. Of course nothing is settled yet, But it is beginning to have a WCW look which WWE have advertised this year.

Booker T & Nash deals are sorted, Jericho's is around 90% done according to his tweets, Sting is the only questionable one, he didn't re-sign with TNA as expected though so things are looking good, could be a massive swerve on WWE's part though!

Just read this on the .net.
WWE Monday Night Raw takes place at The Save Mart Center at Fresno State on 2/21/11. The arena website is advertising the return of The Undertaker that night which could lead to speculation that the 2/21/11 Raw vignette is promoting his return.

Maybe we were a little premature with Sting.

Who knows?

I saw the same stories online last night, it's unlikely they'd hype up his return for Raw when he's very rarely on the show, unless he's asked to go to Raw for his return of course.   :)

LMFAO... As a gimmick it works, I felt sorry for the other two guy's who had to stand there pretending to be hypnotized before they got involved, They looked stupid standing there. And the wrestler who stripped down to his Superman pants, We can do without that.
But with a bit of work, The gimmick could work, Sign them up Vince...LOL.

Breaking MMA News: UFC Buys Strikeforce

UFC President Dana White announced today that UFC's parent company, Zuffa, has bought out Strikeforce. This is a huge story in the MMA world. No details on the terms of the buyout are known, but White said it was a "good deal."

White added that Strikeforce fighters will remain under the Strikeforce roster for the time being, while UFC fighters may eventually make their way over there.

"Strikeforce is going to continue to run business as usual," White said. "There's contracts in place. These guys are on Showtime. Strikeforce pulls good ratings for Showtime. I think Showtime is happy with them. All those contracts will be honored. These guys are going to remain Strikeforce fighters. Could guys from the UFC leave and end up over in Strikeforce? Yeah."

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker will be staying on, just as WEC executive Reed Harris did after UFC bought WEC in 2006.

White also ruled out the possibility of cross-promotion "superfights," saying fighter contracts, broadcast deals, and business partnerships will remain unaffected.

The main reason for the buyout on the Zuffa side appears to be the need to acquire more talent as they continue to expand globally, even though White insists Strikeforce will run as its own business.

"That's a separate business that has their own income," White said. "They have their own budgets and everything else that they do. They have they're own television deals. If they're that interested in acquiring (a fighter), it's no different than it was before."

Sting retained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship Sunday night against Jeff Hardy in a match that last approximately ninety seconds. Eric Bischoff announced prior to the bout that it would be a No Disqualification Match. Sting reigned victorious following the Scorpion Death Drop, the only move of the match. As noted earlier on numerous websites, there was backstage concern over Jeff Hardy at the pay-per-view. There are other sources that say Sting told TNA management before the match that he wouldn't agree to wrestling a long match with Hardy if he was in no condition to perform. For what it's worth, Jeff Hardy is scheduled to go to court on drug charges next Monday (March 21st).

Jeff is clearly off his face, so sad and Sting's loyalty to TNA ends up in this embarrassment, maybe he should of answered Vince's calls!!!   ;D

WWE Statement: Edge Retires From WWE

Here is WWE's official statement on Edge retiring from WWE:

"Less than a week after his successful title defense against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII, World Heavyweight Champion Edge has been forced to retire from in-ring competition due to injury. The unexpected news brings to an end a storied WWE career spanning 13 years and consisting of 11 World Title reigns.

The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI in Atlanta last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.

In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death."

I loved Savage as a kid.  2nd only to Ultimate Warrior.

For some reason I had the backstory in my head that Macho Man and Hulk Hogan were brothers, sort of a good/evil, yin/yang, darkwing/negaduck thing.

I don't know if that was just my imagination, or if it was an actual story WWF played around with.  Either way, I liked Macho more than Hulk.

Who is excited about the wake up taunts? Seems to me it will make it more fun being able to do the finisher pretty similar to the way the superstar does it. Because how often does Randy Orton just give an RKO without coiling up. And I think I might start watching wrestling again I actually miss it a lot.

Which of the rigged ring implosions do you prefer?

Gotta be Lesnar for me, he's smaller than Henry and Show was a lot heavier in 03, Brock used to throw SHow around for fun, he was a genetic freak back then!

Hornswoggle is now looking for a new home!   ;D

Just got done with the documentary to 'Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Bottom Line On The Most Popular Superstar Of All Time'. Emotional stuff, learned alot of new things about Austin. Makes you realise though that they'll never have another wrestler as popular as Austin that isn't fed down our throats ala Cena. I've lost all my enthusiasm for the current product now. :(

I've not started watching it yet but I might stick it on after all the football later.  The current product still has it's moments, CM Punk is doing his best to spice it up a bit, his promo work is quality and in the ring he's obviously very good but he's pretty much the only one making any kind of 'Attitude' style impact.

It says a lot that the only time we get massive pops anymore is when Austin or Rock return! Not including hometown pops of course like the awesome reaction Punk got in Chicago at MITB or even the pop Ryder got when he ran in on Ziggler at Survivor Series a few weeks back.

It was a pretty cool comeback, especially when he took off the first mask to reveal his classic mask, first time he's been masked in about 8 years too, he came back on last week's Raw and gave massive no-selling, kiddie fave John Cena another beating.   :)

One reason that has been mentioned for his masked return has something to do with WWE trying to break a World Record at Mania in April, they want the record for most people wearing masks at one time, the plan was for Mysterio vs Sin Cara but both are injured and won't be back until the Summer at the earliest so Kane is the only other option.

Whether that's true or not, it's good to see him back and back with his mask.   :)

His 'thing' with Cena last night was pretty cool, can't wait to see where that leads. Punk/Ziggler for the title next week will be cool, although I think 'The Prophet' will return and interfere in that match.

Edge and The Four Horsemen (Flair, Arn Anderson, Blanchard and Windham) are the first inductees in this years WWE Hall of Fame.  Flair is currently under contract at TNA so it'll be interesting to see if they'll let him appear, though it's Flair we're talking about, he does what he wants!  :)

Some guy interviewed him during a signing and he said he was going to appear. He was there last year, just appeared off camera.

The Hulkster has been on fire this week, first he claimed he was once a member of Metallica (in the early days) and now he says he was offered the lead role in The Wrestler but turned it down three times!

Well he still thinks he's the biggest draw in wrestling too, lost it would be an understatement!  :)

Apparently he's good friends with Lars and he asked him to play bass in Metallica but things didn't work out.

Been ages since anything was posted here but this is worth mentioning:

WWE eye UK return for SummerSlam

WWE bosses are in secret talks with major British sporting venues about hosting a PPV on our shores, according to a leading US wrestling expert.

Dave Meltzer reports that officials are due to meet with representatives of Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium today and have already spoken to Old Trafford and ‘a stadium in London’, believed to be Wembley.

The original Wembley Stadium hosted SummerSlam in 1992, arguably the most important wrestling event to ever occur on these shores.

Along with featuring the likes of Randy Savage and the Undertaker, the pay-per-view was headlined by one of the greatest matches in history – Bret The Hitman Hart v The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith.

It’s thought that if WWE can hammer out a deal with a British venue for 2013, SummerSlam would return for the 21st anniversary of that memorable show.

More than 80,000 fans attended SummerSlam 92, which is officially WWE’s second-highest recorded attendance ever, behind WrestleMania III, for which the genuine number is often queried.

Despite the huge gate, WWE have never produced an international PPV outside of North America since then, largely due to a mix of a poor domestic buy rate, logistical costs and time-zone issues.

For a time, WWE produced UK-only PPVs such as Rebellion and Capital Carnage for Sky Box Office, but stopped in 2002 as sales dwindled.

Of the three rumoured stadia, all have capacities of over 74,000, while the Millennium and Wembley both have retractable roofs.

Current WWE star Wade Barrett, from Preston, weighed in on Twitter following the report in Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer, stating his desire for Vince McMahon’s entertainment company to produce another major show on British soil.

Wade said: “WrestleMania 29 tickets go on sale this Saturday and I’ve no doubt the Brits will again make up a disproportionately large percentage of sales.

“After showing they are the best fans on the planet this week in Brum, I think it’s about time SummerSlam made a return to Wembley.

“There is no place in the world I’d rather beat Sheamus than in the centre circle of the greatest stadium in the world.”

WWE may just be persuaded to host a PPV here by the quality, not just quantity, of crowds in the UK.

This week’s Raw and Smackdown emanated from Birmingham’s LG Arena, where the crowd, particularly for Raw, was praised worldwide for being one of the hottest in recent memory, while TNA Impact had two tapings at Wembley Arena in January in front of their biggest and rowdiest audiences ever.

Attendances on this UK tour are said to have been lower than usual, but Birmingham sold out for Raw and a major PPV would undoubtedly spark a major rise in demand.
