Title: The All Sports Quiz
Post by: GamerMan316 on October 26, 2009, 04:33:40 AM
Not sure why nobody has created a sports quiz before, so heres one.
Any sport is fine, if nobody answers after a few days, anyone can post a question.

First question, very easy to get us underway.

How many goals did spud peddler Gary Lineker score for England?

damn good boxer in his time but i always preferred Nigel Benn, loved it when Collins smashed Eubank, great fights, sadly British Boxing has never been anywhere near as good since and for me i don't see anything changing that at the moment either.

staying with boxing

Title: Re: The All Sports Quiz
Post by: GamerMan316 on December 06, 2009, 04:48:26 PM
without looking this up i've no idea

I think that Sol Campbell got in the 2002 World Cup team, even though Rio was the better defender in the tournament
Title: Re: The All Sports Quiz
Post by: sambo on December 06, 2009, 04:52:04 PM
Yes he is one of them.
If I told you that there have been 8 players, And that Campbell was one of them, then there are 7 left to get.
Title: Re: The All Sports Quiz
Post by: GamerMan316 on December 06, 2009, 04:56:51 PM
so 1 so far, has there been a team of the tournament in every World Cup or is it a more recent thing?

I'll go with Lineker in 86 for another as he won the Golden Boot that year
Title: Re: The All Sports Quiz
Post by: sambo on December 06, 2009, 04:59:33 PM
Lineker is correct, Thats two.

Yes, There has been a team of the tournement from every World Cup. It was expanded from 11 to 16 at the 1998 finals, and then to the current 23.

6 to go then

John Terry in 2006?
Sir Bobby Charlton maybe in '66?

Ajax 1995
Real Madrid 1998 & 2000
AC Milan 2003 & 2007

he might not played in one of the Real Madrid Finals but he would have got a medal if he played some part in the tournament
He's also the only player to win the Champions League with 3 different clubs

Hmm. I can't imagine it was many. It's 5 years At Utd now I think, And he must have scored over 80 in that time. So I would say that it is under 20, Probably under 15. So I will go with 12.

Ally McCoist?

If it's not Ally McMoist, i'm guessing it's one of the players from Arbroath when they beat Bon Accord 36-0 in the late 1880's, it's still the highest scoring match in football history so theres a good chance that one player scored a shed load in that game.

Off the top of my head i'm going for 3. 3 in a row I think as well.

Scap that..he won another one after that, I'm going for 4.  ;D. Yeah 3 in a row then another one. Final answer 4.

He actually won 4 in a row, but 4 isn't the answer.  :)

So a complete stab in the dark.  Swindon.  ???

The Maracana which did have a 199,584 attendence for the 1950 World Cup, It now holds only 82,238. The Azteca has a capacity of 104,000, So the answer is neither of these.

it's got to be american, but i can't think which one! Clue?

Clue 1. The arena is not in America, North or South.
