Before the dust settled on the beginning of this year's Video Game Awards on Spike, the first surprise announcement was the revelation that Batman: Arkham Asylum would get a sequel.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 -- which is what we'll call it until an official title is revealed -- presumably continues where the original critically acclaimed Rocksteady title left off, and was revealed via diabolical plot from Batman's Nemesis The Joker. Attempting to gas those in attendance, Mark Hamill's threatening vocals reverberated throughout the audience revealing a sequel people "didn't expect." After smashing through sales charts and the assumptions that all licensed titles are crap, we expected nothing less. Take that, Joker!

Update: Footage after the break! Also, the official site is up at arkhamhasmoved.com (http://arkhamhasmoved.com/)

Rumour:  Batman: Arkham Asylum II may get some Robin

Is Rocksteady's superb Batman video game series already reaching the point of Robin? So says a listing (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568322/) for Batman: Arkham Asylum II at the occasionally factual Internet Movie Database. That could be bad news... or it could be good.

The bad depends on your tastes, whether you consider the lone wolf Batman to be superior to the dynamic duo version. The positive perspective could be the theoretical addition of cooperative play in the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, something we've just been groomed to expect from our current and future releases.

Regardless of your feelings, the IMDB listing for the game credits Vincent Martella with Robin voice acting duties. He plays Robin in the Batman: Under the Red Hood animated feature as well as Hope in the newly released Final Fantasy XIII. He's listed alongside Bruce Greenwood as the voice of Two-Face, also appearing in Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Perhaps the IMDB entry editing powers that be simply confused the two projects, but we've contacted Warner Bros. reps to try to clear this up.

Update: Warner Bros. reps respond, saying "To our knowledge, what you asked about is inaccurate information. We are not yet discussing details for the sequel." We'd prefer a hard and fast "No!" or "Yeah, he's totally in it." but that's about as clear as WB is making things right now.

In the right setting, Robin can be a very interesting character.  Of course Nightwing is far more interesting, with that rocky relationship between him and Batman.

And with the beautifully dark and mysterious tone of the first Arkham Asylum, I have no doubt that if they do add Robin, it will be a variation of Robin I'll like.

They may even be referencing Robin as a flashback character that gives background info for Nightwing.  Nightwing may actually be the character that appears in current-day Gotham.

Batman: Arkham Asylum stormed out of nowhere last year to become 2009's surprise hit. No such leeway for the sequel though - the pressure is on. So here are a few ideas we'd like to see make the sequel...

Less Detective Mode

One of Batman: Arkham Asylum's cool tricks was the Detective Mode, which let you see enemies through walls and obstacles plus areas of interest, such as ventilation shafts and grapple hooks. It was a smart idea that was well implemented.

So why are we asking for less Detective Mode? Because it was so good and so useful, it was actually easier to play with it switched on by default. Detective Mode was argubaly a little too good for its own good and sometimes, you'd have to make a point of switching it off just to take in the stunning visuals. We're not sure how you'd tone it down without making it redundant but a better balance is needed.

New Villains

Arkham Asylum was packed full of clues to the other villains Batman has had to face during his time and uncovering them was half the fun - the icy cell of Mr Freeze, the Selina Kyle whip hinting at Catwoman, Clayface locked up but impersonating the mayor, all cool turns in the asylum.

Why not let them run riot in the sequel? We'd love to see the Joker return but as long as new villains were brought in alongside him - Two-Face and Ra's al Ghul would be awesome - then we're happy.

No Asylum

Which goes against the name, of course. But Batman has now done Arkham Asylum. Batman covers every inch of it throughout the course of Arkham Aslyum, backtracking as he picks up new items and as Poison Ivy's mutated plants transform the place, so it's not even ripe for a fresh look-at-Arkham-Asylum-now-it's-ruined slant. Even that's been done.

So shift the action somewhere else. Maybe an opening section in the Arkham Asylum, to ensure the title of the game has relevance and it ties in with its predecessor, before the plot moves Batman elsewhere. As for where? Well, that's Rocksteady's job, not ours. We can't do everything for them.

Batman And Robin Co-op

We've put it this low down the list because we're not even sure if we want to see it. We're almost certain we don't want to see Robin in the game but the absence of Robin means Batman teaming up with Batgirl, which makes us think of Alicia Silverstone trying to pronounce compost. That's probably worse.

Yet it's the next logical big step in the series and is a big enough step that it would justify the presence of a sequel. Plus, if nothing else, there would be so much moaning if it didn't make it in. That's the real reason we want to see it.

More Variety In Riddles/Enemies

The riddles were varied enough in the original Arkham Asylum, so as long as Rocksteady found new ways of spicing them up, there would be no complaints from this corner. More of a must is a need to introduce more types of enemies, as there wasn't that much variety to learn and figure out how to overcome.

I have to disagree with this.  I did use Detective Mode during 90% of my gameplay, but I don't think it took away from the game at all.  If anything, it made me feel more like I was playing the role of Batman.

The fact that you can turn Detective Mode on/off whenever you want, gave the game a realism and freedom that immersed me into the game.  By limiting Batman's tech abilities, you're limiting Batman himself.  That's just wrong.

If Batman wants to see the world through Detective Mode, let him.   :P

Arkham Asylum 2 is "really, really dark"

Kevin Conroy, the man who Batman's voice belongs to, has revealed that Arkham Asylum 2 will be "really, really dark".

He said the game's tone will be reminiscent of moody animated film Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker. "It involves a lot of the villains and goes to that area - it's that dark," said Conroy, speaking at last weekend's Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo (attended by Comic Book Resources (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=25790) via IGN (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/108/1084576p1.html)).

Conroy was hoodwinked by a member of the audience into revealing Two-Face as a villain in Arkham Asylum 2. He paused briefly upon realising his mistake and added, "There's a very complicated cast; a lot of villains are in it. I'll just leave it at that!"

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 was revealed by Rocksteady in December 2009, and the developer was bought by Warner Bros. in February this year. No dates or even platforms have been revealed for the sequel. So far all we know is that The Joker and Harley Quinn will return.

Another interesting tidbit from the Conroy interview revealed that Mark Hamill wasn't first-pick to play The Joker in television's Batman: The Animated Series. To begin with, Rocky Horror star Tim Curry had been head-hunted for the part. However, Curry's portrayal was so menacing that Warner was worried it would terrifying the audience. Hamill was drafted in soon after. "Mark is psychotic with a smile. Tim was just psychotic to give you nightmares," recalled Conroy.

Conroy has worked with Hamill on the animated television series of Batman for years. Both reprised their roles for Arkham Asylum, but Conroy said the experience was very different. Conroy likened it to "some kind of homeland security torture", due to the amount of recording that needed to be done.

Oh, and Conroy added that Christian Bale's big-screen Batman voice was "ridiculous" and that someone should have told him so. Poor Bale was "steered wrong", Conroy said.

We've only just had confirmation that Two-Face will appear in Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 and already, two more villains have been confirmed.

League of Comic Geeks has noted the voice-actors for Mr Freeze and Talia al Ghul talking about their roles in Arkham Aslyum 2, confirming their appearances.

Mr Freeze will be voice-acted by Maurice LaMarche. "Video games is hard work, I'll say that," he explains. "I've only done a handful, and I'm very lucky right now, I'm about to go in and do Mr. Freeze for Arkham Asylum 2. He's out for blood right now because... I can't tell you the situation, but he's actually somewhat a sympathetic character within the framework of the game."

Meanwhile, Stana Katic mentioned on her Twitter account: "Just recorded a character voice on the next Batman video game. Never did that before. Helpful hint: plenty of water and pineapple slices."

This was followed with: "For those who were asking: I'm voicing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins")."

The tweets have since been removed. So we ask again - which villains do you want to see in Arkham Asylum 2?

Mr Freeze

Awesome.  While not the most popular, Mr. Freeze definitely has one of my favorite backstories in the Batman universe.  His appearances in Batman The Animated Series (and Batman Beyond) were always epic and beautifully tragic.  Great character.

Arkham Asylum 2 domains offer clues
War in Gotham City? Stop Mayor Sharp? Batman grand delusion?

A host of domain names snapped up by Warner Bros for Arkham Asylum 2 have been spotted, leading to clues on what the game may contain.

We know that Arkham Asylum 2 won't take place in Arkham Asylum, although Rocksteady has remained tight-lipped on where the sequel will be set.

The domain names give us the first real batch of clues on what to expect. There are plenty of references back to Gotham City, enough to make us think that the game will be partially set there at the very least.

Beyond that, Arkham Asylum Warden Quincy Sharp could be making a return. He was running for Mayor in the original Arkham Asylum and now a domain name reads 'Stop Mayor Sharp'.

Batman could also be facing some conflict much closer to home, with domain names also reading 'Where's Bruce Wayne' and 'Batman Grand Delusion'.

So nothing concrete yet then, but a few clues on what to expect and on the possible next title. We particularly like the sound of Batman: Ashes of Gotham as the name for the sequel.

Batman: Arkham City outed: first pics and trailer
Name and first details revealed, more in the next OXM

The sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum has finally been named as Batman: Arkham City, as spotted by CVG.

"Almost exactly a year ago, Batman: Arkham Asylum launched to wide acclaim and millions in sales. Now, developer Rocksteady Studios returns to the the franchise that put the company's name on the map to blow away gamers all over again," writes Game Informer.

The cover shows Catwoman held in chains, so she's been confirmed as appearing in the game... but as a villain or as a partner?

Joker and Harley Quinns are also confirmed as returning, care of the brief teaser trailer (http://www.batmanarkhamcity.com/) on the game's website. It looks suspiciously like one of those trailers that is filled with secret information for fans to discover.

Batman: Arkham City isn't due until Autumn 2011 but if you can't wait until then to learn more about the game, you might want to keep your eyes on the next issue of Official Xbox 360 Magazine. Just saying.

Batman: Arkham City - First story details
Gotham City becomes security "home" for new all-star cast of villains...

Rocksteady's released the first teasing story details for Batman: Arkham City, following the game's reveal this afternoon on the front of a US games mag.

According to the developer, Arkham City "builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security 'home' for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds."

As expected, the sequel's set inside the now "heavily fortified" walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, the developer's said, and a brand-new story that "draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, " is promised.

Of course we already know that part of the "all-star" cast includes Cat Woman, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face.

Rocksteady also reckons "a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features" will deliver "the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight."

We can't wait to see some actual game content. Luckily, we only have to wait for the next issues of Official Xbox Magazine and Official PlayStation Magazine.

Even if it's still single-player and Catwoman is A.I. (Prince of Persia), I love the tension and humor whenever they're forced to work together in the comics.

I'm not a big fan of how they made Harley so boobylicious in this series, but they are using her voice actor from the cartoon show so I'm still happy.

Time to get nerdy: Did you know that Harley was originally just a tacked on hench-gal character they added for the cartoon series just because they didn't like the idea of the Joker jumping out of a cake at a party for a particular scene?

That's funny.  I knew she was created for Batman TAS, but I wasn't aware that was the reason.

My mom hated when I watched Batman TAS because of Harley.  She said she had the same whiny voice as that "dumb blonde with the stupid hats" on Days of our Lives.  I didn't realize how funny that was until years later.

I've always been a huge fan of Harley.  I'm sure a forum search of "Harley + nCogNeato" will overload your pc.

However, there seems to be a lot of focus on Harley's sex appeal in those promo pics.  I hope Arkham City doesn't try to downplay her quirky comic relief.  Give me funny Harley over sexy Harley anyday.    :-*

Some of the more interesting additions to Arkham City:

He Believes He Can Fly:
Batman cap now allows him to fly long distances instead of simply gliding. This action is accomplished by swooping down, catching wind, and gliding back up. Word has it that Batman can fly over the whole of Arkham City without ever touching the ground.

Batman Smokes Out:
Not availalble in the first game, but quite an obvious addition - Batman now has smoke bombs which he can use to escape a situation.

Alfred Replaces Oracle:
The voice in Batman's ear is now Wayne's faithful butler Alfred.

Grunts Can Take Hostages:
In Arkham Asylum there was a scene early on where Zsasz took a doctor hostage, Batman was tasked with rescuing the hostage. In Arkham City, average thugs can now do this based on the context of the given situation.

Triple Takedowns Now Confirmed:
No footage of this was available at the time, but apparently Batman can now counter attacks from three enemies. Not sure how it would work, but it sounds like it's got some ass kicking potential. On the flip-side, some enemies now have armor and takedowns will not work on them at all. These enemies must now be introduced to the "Beatdown" move - a combination of stunning and attacking.

To Be A Hero Or Not:
Following in the steps of games like Assassin's Creed and Dead Rising - Batman will receive distress signals from time to time, these signals usually involve Gotham citizens in trouble. You can choose to follow the side quest and conduct a rescue or ignore it alltogether.

Sounds like a compromise of the previously tested "morality" choices that they scrapped in the first game.  This could really add something great to the game, or completely make the game tedious and irritating.  Do it right .... PLEASE!

Is anyone playing, especially a character like Batman going to ignore distress calls? I would think not as it kinda defeats the purpose of being a superhero and that anyone that does do it will be on a second playthrough and doing it just to see what happens

Not all of them, but some of them may go by the wayside.

It really depends on how they handle them and pace them out. I remember many Dead Rising's distress calls going ignored primarily because they were so overlapped. Having 4-5 distress calls with time limits, placed on opposite ends of the map can get pretty tedious. Especially when you're trying to get through the main storyline.

If there's enough incentive gameplay-wise for covering them all, it and may cause me to try it on a second playthrough, just to see what happens...;)

My guess is that those you answer will give you info on the whereabouts of certain clues or riddler challenges as an incentive to respond to them so as you dont feel you a diverging from the main story but that every thing that happens is some how connected and that you dont feel you are stop starting the main story to respond to them.

I too would undoubtably play through a second time aswell as long as it lives up to its predecessor which was my game of that year  ;D

I played Arkham Asylum on the PS3, don't remember why, I think I borrowed the game from a friend. But I've yet to start the GOTY copy I've purchased for the 360. Which is now beckoning for some attention, but I know once I start it, it'll dominate a great chunk of time, eventhough I've essentially already been through it.

Following a series of flaky rumours, Warner Bros has now confirmed that the Penguin will be p-p-p-p-p-popping into Batman: Arkham City.

Featured on the cover of this month's PSM3 magazine, the rotund villain can be seen sporting a classic fur coat & top hat combo.

We're still waiting to hear more about the flavour of trouble he'll be cooking up for Batman, although based on previous experience you can almost certainly expect something sadistic and/or umbrella based.

Glancing over the diabolical guest list for this year's Batman, it's hard to think of many villains that haven't been invited to have a crack at old bats. Arkham City is shaping up to be one hell of a party.

Those look cheap as hell.  The little pointed area in the bottom / center also looks like it would be uncomfortable.

On the ... bright side, you'll now be ... blind as a bat by those gawdawful lights.

But seriously:
The d-pad on the 360 controller is most likely an improvement over the official 360 controller.
The 360-style layout and size of the PS3 controller is definitely an improvement over the official PS3 controller.

If I didn't already own of the these (http://360fahrenheit.com/fahrenh1_forum1/index.php?topic=307.msg62913#msg62913), I may have consider buying the PS3 version.

You can play as Robin in Batman: Arkham City.

He's playable in two Challenge maps, according to Game Informer - but only to people who purchase the game at Best Buy. And Best Buy is only available to people in the US.

It's been a tumultuous week for the Boy Wonder. After months of speculation, a Best Buy advertisement confirmed that Robin would be in developer Rocksteady's sequel. However, the ad made it seem that only Best Buy preorders would get the Robin challenge maps. The Internet freaked out, but it looks like everyone will get Robin at some point.

The news came from a forum post by Sarah Wellock, Rocksteady's European community manager. In it, Wellock confirms that Robin is coming to the challenge maps and that players can "pre-order with selected retailers to gain exclusive early access."

The word choice of "exclusive early access" falls in line with my hypothesis from yesterday. Either preorder folks are getting Robin right out of the gate while the rest of the world has to work for him in the game or the content is a timed exclusive that will one day be available for everyone.

Wellock's scoops about the Dark Knight's sidekick didn't stop there. She also confirmed that Tim Drake will be Batman: Arkham City's Robin. If you're not a DC Comics nerd, Tim Drake was the third Robin in the current DC Comics continuity. He followed in the footsteps of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd but has since broken away from the mantle and begun his own crime fighting career as Red Robin.

If you're depressed that Dick Grayson -- the original Robin -- isn't wearing the red tights, don't be. Remember, we did spot a "Flying Graysons" poster not too long ago in Arkham City, so there's a chance Nightwing (Dick's alter-ego before becoming Batman in the comics) might show up.

Warner Bros has confirmed Robin as a downlodable character for Batman: Arkham City, and released a stylish noir render to boot. Rocksteady's Boy Wonder is a far cry from his campy TV show self, boasting fat arm guards and a mean-looking staff.

Besides Robin himself, the pack contains two new Challenge levels, Blask Mask Hideout and Freight Escape, and a Red Robin character skin. Batman's favourite sidekick is also playable on the rest of Arkham City's Challenge maps, and has "his own unique gadgets and special moves".

I respect Rocksteady enough to reserve judgement until I see Robin in action.  But at first glance, I don't like it.

If they were going to do Robin, I would have thought they'd go with the Batman-minus-cowl look.

Would have definitely made it easier to code him into the game.  Just give Batman a differnet skin, and scale his size down a little.  This new look kind of makes him look like an asshole teenager, but maybe that's what they're going for?

Talia al Ghul confirmed for Arkham City

Anti-heroine Talia al Ghul is the latest character announced for Batman: Arkham City.

The daughter of crime boss Ra's al Ghul and Batman's occasional love interest in the comics will be voiced by Stana Katic, star of US TV series Castle.

"Talia is such a complex character and it was great to voice her in Batman: Arkham City," commented Katic. "I was amazed at all the detail put into the project and it’s great to see how excited the fans are about the game."

The follow-up to Rocksteady's acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum is starting to look rather crowded. The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, Robin, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Two Face, Hugo Strange, Victor Zsasz, Calendar Man and Black Mask are all confirmed to appear in some capacity.

Bane fights with Batman in Arkham City

An AI-controlled Bane will fight alongside Batman in Arkham City, Warner has announced.

Bane teams up with Batman during a series of sub missions that involve tracking down shipments of chemical contraband, Go Nintendo reports. Bane is not playable.

Bane joins anti-heroine Talia al Ghul on the game's expanding cast.

During a Comic-Con panel developer Rocksteady revealed a new gadget for Batman, a Remote Electrical Charge (REC). It shoots an instant spark that knocks enemies back or electrocutes armour-wearing enemies.

Meanwhile, the panel revealed that the game includes around four hours of Catwoman gameplay.

The Batman: Arkham City pre-order skins

The six announced Batman: Arkham City skins have been collected and detailed.

ArkhamCity.co.uk (http://arkhamcity.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=3955#p121974) did the leg work, sorting the pre-order bonuses into a tidy list with a nifty picture.

UK gamers can get the 1970s Batman skin from ShopTo.net (http://www.shopto.net/PC/VIDEO%20GAMES/PCBA21-Batman%20Arkham%20City.html). Nab the Batman Beyond skin from GameStop.co.uk (http://www.gamestop.co.uk/core/common/default.aspx?quickSearch=arkham%20city).

The Dark Knight Returns skin is available to all who pre-order the Collector's Edition – from any store. The Animated Series and Earth One skins are so far exclusive to a New Zealand retailer. Will they be sold as DLC post launch? Robin's Red Robin skin is also currently unavailable to UK gamers.

Batman: Arkham City The Album revealed

Warner Bros. has announced Batman: Arkham City - The Album, an 11-track medley of dark and brooding tunes to fuel gamers' excitement for November's Arkham Asylum sequel.

The album features original ditties from Panic! At the Disco, Coheed and Cambria, The Duke Spirit and System of a Down front-man Serj Tankian.

Batman: Arkham City - The Album will release in record shops on 4th October, giving gamers two weeks to listen to it on repeat before Arkham City launches on 21st October.

Gamers getting Arkham City's Collector's Edition who can wait until the game's release get a free download code for the album - including a bonus track by A Place to Bury Strangers.

"I write in a very conceptual format with the stories that surround Coheed and Cambria," said C&C front-man Claudio Sanchez, "but Batman has a much larger, defined history and rules that go along with it. My goal was to find universal themes from Batman's existing history to help give the lyrics legs and dimension so that the song could live within that world."

The full tracklisting lies below:

Panic! At The Disco - Mercenary
    Coheed and Cambria - Deranged
    The Duke Spirit - Creature
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Shadow On The Run
    Blaqk Audio - Afterdark
    The Raveonettes - Oh, Stranger
    ††† (Crosses) - The Years
The Damned Things - Trophy Widow
    Daughtry - Drown In You
The Boxer Rebellion - Losing You
    Serj Tankian - Total Paranoia
A Place to Bury Strangers - In The Shadow (Bonus Collector's Edition track)

Arkham City's New Game Plus detailed

Unlike its predecessor, Batman: Arkham City features a New Game Plus mode, developer Rocksteady Studios has confirmed.

According to a post on the game's official forum (http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/forums/showthread.php/3833-New-Game-Plus), the mode will unlock when you finish the game on either the Normal or Hard setting.

You'll then be able to play through again with all your gadgets, XP and unlocked upgrades intact.

However, no counter icons will appear on enemies, tougher foes will be available from the start of the game, opposition will be configured differently and bosses will be harder to take down.

New Game Plus will be the same difficulty regardless of whether you finished the game on Normal or Hard.

GameStop listing outs Catwoman DLC episodes
“I don't know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much yummier.”

In just a few short weeks we’ll all be gliding into the crime-ridden Arkham City as the Caped Crusader for one of the most anticipated games of the year. But what happens after we’ve done all there is to do in Arkham?

According to GameStop’s website, there’s more planned than we’ll be getting at launch. Buried in the bullets of the description for the Limited Edition game guide is a mention of downloadable content, promising some additional playtime spent as everyone’s favorite whip-carrying jewel thief, Catwoman. It’s not the DLC that’s surprising, but the wording: “Bonus Catwoman's Walkthrough: Get complete coverage of Catwoman's DLC content! All 4 episodes are revealed!”

Sure, it’s not the most official source of information, but we doubt the copywriters at GameStop are just making this stuff up. Plus, it’s too specific to be a wild guess. Not only does it mention DLC, but specifically four episodes worth, though we really don’t know exactly what they may entail. The obvious answer would be that they are going to come in the form of Challenge Rooms, as was the case with most of the DLC in Arkham Asylum, but those could hardly be considered “episodes.” If we were the type that looked too far into things (which we are), we’d say that this episodic content might be more story missions, fleshing out Catwoman’s side of things in the Arkham City story. That sure sounds more like an “episode” to us.

Still, maybe it really will just offer more Challenge Rooms. We’re really hoping that’s not all Rocksteady Studios has in store, because for as much fun as those score-driven Challenge Rooms were, we’d be much happier parting with our hard-earned money if it meant a continuation (or expansion) of the story. We’ve reached out to some of our friends at Warner Bros. for more information using our top-notch detective skills, and we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything interesting.

Batman: Arkham City review - 97% in GM, 'one of the greatest games ever'
Another incredible verdict for the Rocksteady sequel

The latest Batman: Arkham City review score to hit the net is from the issue 244 of Games Master and it's an absolute celebration of the Rocksteady sequel.

The mag's given Arkham City 97% but it's the words that really give an indication of just how special this game is.

Reviewer Rob Taylor urges readers to "revel in one of the greatest games ever conceived." He describes the combat as "near perfection" and "elevated to an entirely new level" while Arkham City as a location is "brooding and bloody massive.

Most excitingly though, the mag teases a "knockout ending" which of course (thankfully) is kept tightly under wraps.

Taylor concludes by proclaiming Batman: Arkham City to be, "brave, brutal, brilliant - the gold standard by which all future videogames should be judged."

Games Master isn't alone in its gushing though. The Batman: Arkham City review in German mag Play 3 ended with a score of 92 percent and praise calling the sequel "The best superhero game ever made."

Similarly OPM in Australia ended its Batman: Arkham City review with the full 10 and agreed with Games Master calling it "one of the best games ever made".

Batman: Arkham City review - 10/10 in Game Informer
"The best use of a license in the industry's history," says mag

The latest Batman: Arkham City review score is in and it's another massive victory for Warner and Rocksteady.

Game Informer gave Arkham City the full ten at the end of its review but, as with all the other Batman: Arkham City reviews to date, the real praise comes in the words.

The mag says that "Gotham City is lavishly detailed with dark hues and soaring architecture.

"Most of the central story missions take place indoors in environments that are just as striking. The museum is particularly impressive."

The review even goes as far to call Arkham City "the best use of a license in the industry's history."

Excitement levels must be at maximum for you lot right now, but are you worried that all this hype will lead to disappointment (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/321694/features/is-batman-arkham-city-getting-too-much-hype/) when it comes to playing Arkham City yourself?

Batman: Arkham City DLC problems hit early adopters
Warner looking into missing Catwoman codes

A number of day one Batman: Arkham City purchasers have reported numerous problems accessing the game's add-on content.

Many of you weren't happy to hear that the Catwoman levels in Arkham City's story campaign would be locked behind an online pass gate requiring second-hand buyers to pay for access, but it seems that some first-hand buyers can't get hold of Selina Kyle either.

Users have reported blank sections that should contain their Catwoman code upon opening the Arkham City box, as well as duff Robin DLC codes.

The Robin DLC issue has apparently now been fixed, according to the Arkham City Twitter page (http://twitter.com/#!/arkhamcitynews).

Publisher Warner says it's still working on sorting out the missing Catwoman codes. The Arkham City Twitter page insists players will get the chance to play as the "sexy thief" and asks them to "stay tuned."

I don't care if it has those problems soon as I run into some money I'm getting this and Mirror's Edge. Batman is my second favorite aside from TMNT =)

Don’t Fret Used Gamers, GameStop Gives Used Buyers Free Catwoman Codes

The Batman: Arkham City new copy-only Catwoman content issue won't be affecting used sales at GameStop, as an internal memo reveals that customers purchasing the game preowned will score a Catwoman code as well.

Sent to us by an anonymous tipster and since verified with GameStop retail locations, used copies of Batman: Arkham City will feature a code to download the full Catwoman content pack printed on the customer's receipt. Normally this code would only be available in a new copy of the game, with second-hand owners forced to purchase the content as a $10 download.

GameStop and Warner Bros. had a similar deal in place for Mortal Kombat, allowing the retailer to print out online passes with used copies so customers would avoid the additional purchase.

We've reached out to Warner Bros. to clarify the reasoning behind the move, which seems to counteract the purpose of having the code in new copies in the first place.

Great news for anyone that didn't preorder from Amazon.

Since I preordered mine on Amazon, mine came with a $10 credit.  So technically, even with the free code, a used copy wold still cost me $5 more than buying it new.   :P

Message from Warner Bros. : Catwoman

October 20, 2011

Hi all,

Below is message from Warner Bros. regarding Catwoman.

'Since Tuesday's incredibly successful launch of Batman:Arkham City in North America, our customer support team has received a very small number of calls/emails (less than 0.5 percent of total units sold) regarding Catwoman codes either being invalid or not included in the game packaging. While the number of affected versions is very small, WB Games apologises for any inconvenience this has caused and we are committed to getting these issues resolved as quickly as possible.

All who are experiencing any issues with the game are requested to contact WB Games customer service Department by calling 410-568-3680 (US), emailing support@wbgames.com or visiting http://community.batmanarkhamcity.com/support. All matters will be handled promptly '

Batman: Arkham City Pre-Order DLC Coming to XBL Next Month

If you're a Batman: Arkham City completist and are still pining after the rest of the pre-order DLC to add to your collection, then you'll be happy to see that the slow drip feed of extra content is gradually coming, with the next batch of Riddler's Revenge Challenge Rooms slated for December.

"Brand new DLC coming December 20th with all new Batcave. Joker's Carnival and the Iceberg Lounge also available to download then!" tweeted Arkham City News. (https://twitter.com/#!/arkhamcitynews)

So, that's three new Challenge Rooms to check out next month, although there are no further details on the DLC and prices have yet to be confirmed. Next up, can we have all of those pre-order Batman skins please?!

There is also a cheat that allows you to use alternate skins ingame without having to complete the game first.

After selecting the save slot enter: Left, Left, Down, Down, Left, Left, Right, Up, Up, Down, you should hear an audio cue and then you can select your skin.   :)

Arkham Asylum isn't needed to enjoy Arkham City.  You can dive right into AC if you want.

Just be warned AC is far superior to AA.  If you try to play AA after playing AC, you won't nearly enjoy it as much as it deserves.  AA is an amazing game, just not as amazing as AC.   ;)

Agreed, I have played AA on the PS3 and thought it was excellent. Just started playing AC on the Xbox and it is looks to be a superior version of AA. WB have done a good job here.

Just hope I don't get affected by the save file issue  ;)

Arkham City getting Harley Quinn DLC

Latest from Joystiq regarding Batman Arkham City DLC News:

Perhaps the extremely curvy chunk of Batman: Arkham City featuring Harley Quinn simply wasn't enough for you, or maybe you just like your DLC with an extra splash of Fran Drescher-esque voice acting? We can't be sure, but you specifically will be happy to hear that 10 PlayStation 3 Trophies were dug up byPS3Trophies.org which reveal a yet-to-be announced DLC pack featuring Ms. Quinn.

No other description is given for the content other than "Harley Quinn DLC," nor is release date or pricing info, though Robin is noted in one Trophy as a playable character. Moreover, that Trophy addresses an event known as, "Harley Quinn's Revenge," which sounds to us an awful lot like the potential name for the content. We've reached out to WB for more info, and will keep an eye on the sky for any Bat clues.

To be honest I downloaded the Robin and Nightwing DLC when they were on sale.......I have yet to play them!!  :-\

Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition includes Harley Quinn content

The Harley Quinn-related teases have led to this: today's announcement of a "Game of the Year Edition" re-release of Batman: Arkham City. Coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 May 29, the new version contains the "Harley Quinn's Revenge" expansion, along with the previously released Robin, Catwoman, and Nightwing packs and a set of alternate skins.

In addition to all the in-game content (henceforth referred to as "those wonderful toys") the GOTY edition will contain a download of the Batman: Year One animated movie.
