Dishonored Video Interview Reveals New Gameplay Footage
It's been a bit too quiet where Arkane Studios and Bethesda's dark, Victorian-style steampunk FPS has been concerned, but Dishonored is back in the spotlight, and
GameSpot
has got an exclusive video interview with the game's creators Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio.
In the video, the duo reveal some more details about Dishonored, such as its semi-sandbox nature, hero Corvo's base hub where he can tinker with his weapons and equipment, the powers he can employ and much more. Half Life 2 artist Viktor Antonov is also on board with Dishonored's talent, so it's definitely one to watch.

Dishonored Now a Franchise
Bethesda has told Destructoid that Dishonored, the critically acclaimed stealth-action title released last month, is performing above sales expectations, and the publisher is definitely pleased. While it declined to reveal actual figures, the company can confirm we've the makings of a continuing series.
"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter," said PR chief Pete Hines. "We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.
"So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."
As someone who loved Dishonored, this is great news. I'm sure the holiday sales definitely helped, but it seems that the game has sold plenty well on its own merits, and it would appear, given Hines' words, that a sequel is all but given. Couldn't be happier.

I've been playing this over the holiday, and I have to say that Dishonored is in the running for my 2012: Worst Game I've Played All Year award.
I hate this game.

I hate:
How they give you all these killy tools (like swords, guns, and crossbows) and then they penalize you whenever you kill somebody. Want that bonus XP? Better sneak your way through the level and only knock guys out.
How they artificially force you into sneaking by giving the bad guys super powers. I was going to the lair of some common street hoodlums who were attacking some old lady in the first real level of the game. I, being a legendary master swordsman and assassin, was going to cut and shoot my way through the hideout. Little did I know that common street thugs possess the ability to throw FIREBALLS that do about 90% damage (and hit you through walls). So I was forced to stealth through the hideout without so much as killing a single guy. That was, needless to say, super effing boring. It was also really easy, because with the Blink ability you can pretty much zip through an area without making a sound.
In short, it bothers me that the designers are forcing me to play the game in their one little specific way. Excuse me for wanting to get my murder on without the game calling me a douche (or straight out giving me a game over), in a game where you play as an assassin no less.
All that said, I'm only 1.5 hours into the game, so maybe it picks up. I'll never know, because I can't bring myself to play it any further.
