They should do NFS Road Challenge instead!  Had all the best bits of Hot Pursuit and more! :) Oh and yeah you could be a cop and do the chasing down on Road Challenge and even call in road blocks and stingers.. (after moaning down the radio 50 times )

Honour, Respect, Loyalty.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is 'four times bigger' than Burnout Paradise, says EA.
"Put simply it's around four times bigger than Burnout Paradise, for cars to be able to usefully reach 260 miles an hour," explains Criterion's Matt Webster when asked about Hot Pursuit's play area.

"So well over 100 miles of tarmac road and 30-40% more off-road & shortcut areas, we've opened a lot of that space up for race & chase as you are playing online versus human cops, at night time you can just turn your lights off and hide behind a bush, something that isn't really achievable with AI, when you include elevation changes its a chunk of room so for anyone familiar with Burnout it's about four times larger."  And remember, this isn't one developer trashing another - Criterion was also responsible for Burnout: Paradise

No story in NFS: Hot Pursuit

Unlike EA's recent Need For Speed outings, the forthcoming Hot Pursuit will feature no narrative in the single player mode, developer Criterion has revealed.

"We didn't really think it was necessary to include a story," senior producer Matt Webster told VG247. "If you're a cop, the aim is to go up the ranks, while a racer's aim is to get to the highest rank they can."

However, Webster promised that there was still plenty there for solo racers. "There is a full Career of events. As a racer, you have Time Trials, Races and Hot Pursuits, whereas as a cop you have Rapid Responses, Hot Pursuits and Interceptors. So yeah, there is a chunk of gameplay for the solo player."

Instead of story, Criterion is focusing on social play and a huge open world environment, which it recently estimated was four times larger than in Burnout Paradise, the studio's last title.

It races onto PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 19th November.
