Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 reportedly cancelled
EA said to have shelved plans for next year's update to the golf series

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series is reportedly taking next year off, with plans to develop a 2015 release said to have been put on hold as part of EA's wider restructuring efforts.

According to Kotaku sources, EA Sports initially planned to outsource Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 development, giving EA Tiburon two years to optimise Tiger Woods 16 for PS4 and the next Xbox.

But the site claims the idea was scrapped as a cost-saving move following the resignation of EA CEO John Riccitiello last month, and that some members of the Tiger Woods team have been reassigned to other projects.

An EA Sports spokesperson declined to comment on the report. The most recent release in the 16-year-old annual series was last month's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. The headline feature of the Xbox 360 and PS3 game, which supports Kinect and Move respectively, is a new mode that lets players travel back through time to take on the sport's greatest players including Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.

EA, which was recently rumoured to have closed its EA Partners publishing label, will report its fiscal year 2013 results on May 7.
