Some of the more interesting additions to Arkham City:

He Believes He Can Fly:
Batman cap now allows him to fly long distances instead of simply gliding. This action is accomplished by swooping down, catching wind, and gliding back up. Word has it that Batman can fly over the whole of Arkham City without ever touching the ground.

Batman Smokes Out:
Not availalble in the first game, but quite an obvious addition - Batman now has smoke bombs which he can use to escape a situation.

Alfred Replaces Oracle:
The voice in Batman's ear is now Wayne's faithful butler Alfred.

Grunts Can Take Hostages:
In Arkham Asylum there was a scene early on where Zsasz took a doctor hostage, Batman was tasked with rescuing the hostage. In Arkham City, average thugs can now do this based on the context of the given situation.

Triple Takedowns Now Confirmed:
No footage of this was available at the time, but apparently Batman can now counter attacks from three enemies. Not sure how it would work, but it sounds like it's got some ass kicking potential. On the flip-side, some enemies now have armor and takedowns will not work on them at all. These enemies must now be introduced to the "Beatdown" move - a combination of stunning and attacking.

To Be A Hero Or Not:
Following in the steps of games like Assassin's Creed and Dead Rising - Batman will receive distress signals from time to time, these signals usually involve Gotham citizens in trouble. You can choose to follow the side quest and conduct a rescue or ignore it alltogether.

Sounds like a compromise of the previously tested "morality" choices that they scrapped in the first game.  This could really add something great to the game, or completely make the game tedious and irritating.  Do it right .... PLEASE!

Is anyone playing, especially a character like Batman going to ignore distress calls? I would think not as it kinda defeats the purpose of being a superhero and that anyone that does do it will be on a second playthrough and doing it just to see what happens

Not all of them, but some of them may go by the wayside.

It really depends on how they handle them and pace them out. I remember many Dead Rising's distress calls going ignored primarily because they were so overlapped. Having 4-5 distress calls with time limits, placed on opposite ends of the map can get pretty tedious. Especially when you're trying to get through the main storyline.

If there's enough incentive gameplay-wise for covering them all, it and may cause me to try it on a second playthrough, just to see what happens...;)

My guess is that those you answer will give you info on the whereabouts of certain clues or riddler challenges as an incentive to respond to them so as you dont feel you a diverging from the main story but that every thing that happens is some how connected and that you dont feel you are stop starting the main story to respond to them.

I too would undoubtably play through a second time aswell as long as it lives up to its predecessor which was my game of that year  ;D

It's not wrong for me to be turned on by those screenshots.  It's not gay if it's with Batman.   8)

this game is a must buy for me, but now i know there is no multiplayer i will prob wait a few months before i buy it. i have been burned too many times buying new release games in the first week only to find they are glitchy and need patching.

Could IGN be revealing the first gameplay video in a couple of hours?
