I just treated myself to a Christmas present of Blur from Amazon but due to a balls up on my part I accidently ordered 2 copies. I realised my error within 5 minutes of ordering them but when I went to click "cancel items" it says I can't cancel them because they're "ready for dispatch". I rang customer services who also can't cancel them for the same reason (despite the fact the despatch estimate says 14th December which is 2 days from now) so now I have to have two copies delivered and then send one back! (or possibly both back if the "return an item" option want let me change the quantity).

How stupid is that? I know it's Christmas but there's no way that those 2 copies of Blur have left the warehouse to be disptached within 5 minutes of me ordering them!!!  >:(

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

definitely amazons fault, you should be able to cancel any order within 24 hours. why don't you just use the second copy as a coaster?  :)

Good idea but £12.99 is a bit expensive for a coaster, it's my own fault for not checking the amount when I clicked confirm, but I still can't believe you can't cancel after 5 minutes!!!

You should be able to return only one of the copies.  I did the same thing awhile back, but it was the next day when I get the shipping confirmation that I discovered my mistake. They let me return one of them, but I had to pay the shipping.

Hopefully I should be able to return it, otherwise I may have a copy for sale!!!

ok then......geeky bit....

(I think)

From memory I believe that you have the right to cancel any order made online or over a non face to face manner within 7 days for whatever reason.

I think it falls under the Distance selling regulations 2000

but could be wrong......check it out and I think they have no leg to stand on allowing you to send it back.

or you could give your extra copy to me for my birthday  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Amazon is a frightenly efficient machine.  Once a first-party (sold by Amazon) order is in the queue, there's no stopping it because multiple people in multiple locations are already working on it.  It's actually cheaper for Amazon to pay for the return shipping than for them to stop the process already in place.

If they allowed cancellations within 24 hours after purchase, that means the machine would have to not do anything for 24 hours.  The last order I placed with Amazon (last week), I actually received my shipment tracking info less than 1 hour after I placed the order.

It's awesome & scary.

My two copies have finally turned up, I think I'll wait until after Christmas though to send one back, wouldn't want Royal Mail to lose it!!!

As a customer, I love Amazon.  As a human being, they scare the **** out of me.

There's an Amazon "facility" about 30 minutes from where I live.  A friend of mine went to work there last year ... we haven't seen him since.

Just be sure you submit your return request online before the grace period is up so you don't have to pay for return shipping.  Although, the rules may be completely different in the UK, so I might just be confusing you.   :-X
