Dead Space 3 Expansion, Awakened, Launches Next Month

Dead Space 3 hit stores in the US yesterday and releases in Europe on Friday, but publisher EA has already announced the game's first DLC expansion, called Awakened.

"In Dead Space 3 Awakened, gamers will experience some of the most disturbing content they have ever seen in a Dead Space game. They are going to love it," said Visceral Games boss Steve Papoutsis.

Meanwhile, EA adds that the DLC will feature the franchise's "darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before."

Awakened launches in March for 800 MSP

Reviews have been pretty good.  Most surprising to me, critics don't seem to be hating the addition of co-op as much I had expected.

For those currently playing - not sure how long before this gets patched, buuut.....there you go.

Action heavy and scare free seems to be getting mentioned a lot in the reviews, so exactly like the previous two games.   :)

Nice.  I suppose even with a patch you can simply clear your cache & play offline to farm.  I'd much rather farm than support micro-transactions.   :P

There was a similar glitch in Dead Space 2, you could get as many power nodes as you like to upgrade all weapons plus cash and semiconductors to sell for ammo and stuff too, it was never patched!

Might be an intentional exploit to help players that would normally never make it to the end.

After all, I'm sure developers want as many people to experience the complete game, regardless of their player skills.

EA cans Dead Space series following poor sales of Dead Space 3 - report

EA's Chief Operating Officer - Peter Moore claims shenanigans on "Videogamer" (source of the original report)!

Source: [Kotaku]

Not sure which is being fully accurate, but someone's gonna look a fool when the dust settles.

Had to pull this from the Eurogamer link:  :P

QuoteVideoGamer.com would never publish information from a source whose identity could not be verified, or that we do not believe to be accurate. We carried out internal checks to verify the validity of the comments made by our source - and while we have a duty of care to protect their identity - we stand by the comments made in the original story.

We would also like to reiterate that we ran the story in good faith, taking the necessary steps with both EA and our source to ensure that the story was as accurate, fair, and well-represented as possible.

We find it perplexing as to why EA changed its stance on its decision not to comment on rumours and speculation, especially given the opportunities that the publisher had to clarify the situation before and after VideoGamer.com published the story. We firmly deny any accusations of fabrication on our part.
