Guy's you would not believe the trouble I have had with my internet this week.
It started Monday, Well I say Monday, What actually started it was an offerfrom AOL. I have been with AOL for 3 years and was thinking of changing supplier. Well AOL offered me a new deal if we joined their phone service they would upgrade us to their premium package for less than we were currently paying, So we took the deal.
The change over was to happen Monday, Well I was on the Internet Monday morning as all was well, Then in the Evening it was not working, Because I had to work Monday night there was nothing I could do about it, So come Tuesday I tried again, Still not working I phoned AOL, 3 hours, 3 Bloody hours I was on the phone, Could they help me..NO. Theytold me to phone Netgear as it was a router problem and so I phoned Netgear, Another hour on the phone to them, Ending with them to download some new firmware for my router, "DOWNLOAD? How can I download if my Internet is not working" "Go to a friends house" they replied.
Now I had to go to bed for work that night so there was little I could then.
So Wednesday comes and I go to the Sister in-law's House to download the Firmware, Except the code they gave me no longer works, I now needed the model and serial code of my router, So home I go get the numbers, Back to the Sister in-laws and download the Firmware.
So I'm now downloading the firmware from the disk that I saved the firmware on to. Does this work? Does it F++K. Back on the phone to AOL, They start going through the stuff we had done the day before, So I cut them short, Telling them I've tried all this, So now they put me through to level 2 fault and repair.
They decide to try and reconnect me which will take 4 hours. SO I leave it 4 hours, It is now Wednesday evening, I try my Internet and nothing. So I ring them up again, A fault on the line they tell me and a engineer is fixing it now, Which brings me to Today, And finally I am back on-line.

AOL you foolish fool. The clue is in the title 'America On Line', it only works properly in America :P

Your problem is the magic fairies that carry your data from your modem, to the ACTUAL modem in America and then that moves the data bits down some cables and then back and the fairies fly back etc etc

You need to upgrade your magic shizzle or get a better interbobby. Like GBOL (Great Britain On Line
[pronounced gobble]).

Must admit I only tried AOL once back when I had Win98. It was great

Had to reformat the hard drive to get rid of it  ::)

But I second Fails explanation of the interwibbles workings

Yeah Sambo you should've taken the opportunity to bin AOL as they suck donkey arse. I'm with Sky now and the sevice is 1st class plus their customer service lines are the most helpful I've known. I changed from BT as their prices were a rip off. Still miss my old Virginmedia 10meg though, they rock. Only reason I'm not with them anymore is 'cos I moved house and sod's law they did'nt have cable in my new street. I'm in London for f**ks sake! Oh well, glad your back on line Sambo, I would've come round and helped you out but you know, it's fair old walk...

The only reason we stayed with AOL is they offered us their premium service for less than what we were paying, I've never had no bother with them before this. I'll gues I will just see how this goes, I'm just glad to beback online.
