Hopefully's Sony's willingness to give Valve free reign over content convinces Microsoft to ease up on their nazi restrictions on publishers.

CVG has revealed that Stephen Merchant, co-writer of The Office, will voice Wheatley in Portal 2.
The move follows E3 criticism of Wheatley's voice, and Valve has addressed criticism in a way that we're pretty sure solves the problem.

Stay tuned for impressions of Portal 2 from GamesCom, hopefully we'll hear Wheatley's new voice in action.

I was gonna post this earlier and had to nip out, I like Stephen Merchant, very funny guy, shame they can't get the genius that is Karl Pilkington though, that would be amazing.   :D

Valve announces Portal 2 delay
The date was a lie

Portal 2 will not make it's previously reported release date of 9th February, developer Valve has announced.

The sequel to its widely adored first person puzzler has been pushed back until 22nd April 2011.

Major bummer, right? Well, Valve is more of a glass-half-full sort.

A press release reads, "This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date."

The much-anticipated follow-up is in development for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Portal 2 release date confirmed, EA publishing
Valve's sequel will be here on April 21, 2011

Portal 2 has got a final release date - and the retail version will be published by EA Partners.

The game will hit retail shelves on April 21, 2011 for PS3, 360, Mac and PC.

"Portal 2 is Valve's most innovative title in the company's history and will be launched with a first-class launch campaign this April," said Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing at Valve.

"We're excited to be working with Electronic Arts to deliver this title as we expand our platform strategy to include the Mac and PlayStation 3 platforms."

Portal 2 was named the most anticipated game of 2011 at the Spike TV Video Game Awards earlier this month.

It will see players introduced to a host of fresh puzzles and new test chambers in never-before-seen areas of Aperture Science Labs. Players will also be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion from the original Portal.

Meanwhile, co-op mode will feature its own unique campaign and characters, and will force players to both act and think together.

Failed

Shall we start spread betting for when Valve will announce a delay for this, i reckon Febuary is a safe bet.

GamerMan316

They've delayed it once already, no doubt they'll delay it again.

Boxart.  A little uninspiring, I think. But the game will no doubt be awesome.

i can honestly say i will not be buying this, the first one was bloody frustrating towards the end, damn near impossible and it spoiled what started out as an enjoyable puzzler

Legion

This is a game that I always manage to forget about in  'upcoming games that you want' lists, because Valve have such a terrible history of delays. But it's definitely a game I'm looking forward to picking up some times towards the end of 2012 when it finally gets released :D
I loved Portal 1, it's got so many hilarious moments, and such charming characters (even if they are all only turrets and stuff trying to kill you) It's probably the only series of puzzle games that I've ever managed to enjoy.

dfusioness

not for me, i couldnt enjoy it, towards the end it just got more annoying, i felt trapped by the game, like i was never going to escape, so i wont even be attempting the sequal

Legion

But that feeling of being trapped is what the last part of the game is all about. Chell is trying to escape a life of confinement and, basically, slavery to the machine. I didn't think there was anything they could've done really to improve on it and it works perfectly as a set up for the next game in the series. But, each to their own I guess. >.<

dfusioness

i know, but i felt somewhat claustrophobic with it, i guess im just weird  :P
