While I agree that the demo wasn't the greatest, it was pretty funny.  Since I didn't totally hate it, and because it has the Gears 3 beta I will be pre-ordering it today.  My nephew thought that the demo was "freaking awesome" and has asked me to pre-order it for him too.

It was pretty funny, and it has style points to spare. I can't deny the huge grin I experienced the first time I shot a dude in the jewels and got a "Mercy kill" bonus score for booting him out of his misery. Plus, I haven't tried that hard to shoot a guy right in the bag in a game since Goldeneye on the N64, so kudos to the devs for that.

Only the limited edition gets access to the Gears beta, no?

Technically, yes.  However, the "Limited" (Epic) Edition is just a marketing gimmick.  There is no "Regular" edition of the game.  If you buy it new, you're getting the Limited / Epic Edition.

Sort of like when Red Dead Redemption released.  Everyone got a free "upgrade" to the Limited Edition, but that's just how they were packaged to begin with.

The Epic Edition comes with 25,000 in-game experience points, visual upgrades to the leash weapon and the Peace Maker Carbine weapon along with early access to Gears 3 beta, the standard edition probably doesn't even have a manual.   :)

Ahh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I was watching a bunch of trailers for the game and noticed they say something like "Gears beta if you buy the special edition" or whatever and it spooked me a bit.

Marketing gimmick fail.

Well I think the "Epic" edition is the Xbox 360 version.  Mainly because gears isn't on ps3.
I like my women how I like my coffee: ground up and in the freezer.

The doctors say his chances are 50/50... but there's only a 10% chance of that.

For anyone interested in the Epic Edition in the UK, it's exclusive to Game so if you've pre-ordered it anywhere else, I suggest you cancel as you'll only get the standard edition.

I thought I read somewhere that the regular edition in the UK is the equivalent to the Epic Edition in the States?

Two seperate versions, the Epic Edition is £5 dearer than the standard.

Standard Edition
Epic Edition

nCogNeato

Looks like Epic is squeezing £5 from our UK brethren.

In the US, the "Epic" ediition is the regular edition.   :-\

Gamestation are taking pre-orders on the Epic Edition, rumours online saying that the Gears 3 Beta may only be available for Bulletstorm buyers and that it won't be an open beta afterall.
