QCF+P is the hadouken fireball. Neato is clearly talking about a shoryuken dragon punch.

Akuma, Taskmaster confirmed for MVC3

Akuma and Taskmaster have joined three-on-three fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 3's roster.

Akuma is a long-standing Street Fighter. He stalks do-gooder Ryu with burning red eyes and a gravel voice.

Taskmaster is a Marvel assassin for hire with a photographic memory that allows him to copy and predict the movements of other people. He uses a sword and shield and has a skull for a face. Really.

Confirmation of the character additions comes from IGN, which has published gameplay videos of both Taskmaster and Akuma.

Akuma and Taskmaster are locked at the beginning of the game. To unlock them, players need to earn Player Points. Akuma unlocks at 2000 PP, Taskmaster 8000 PP.

2000 PP is roughly equivalent to a single playthrough of Arcade Mode. You also earn them by playing multiplayer, doing character challenges and spending time in training mode. Capcom estimates most players will have unlocked all the secret characters within a couple of hours, regardless of skill level,

Two more characters are to be revealed.

Frank West axed from Marvel Vs Capcom 3 last-minute
Dead Rising star cut due to the "extra work required" to get him in

You saw silhouettes of Frank West and other evidence that suggested he was in Marvel Vs Capcom 3. The rumour mill was right - he was in it. But he isn't anymore. D'oh!

The Dead Rising leading man was apparently fairly far into development, but was axed last-minute. "As for Frank West, he was actually in the process quite deep, and in one of our high quality CG trailers he was actually part of it," revealed the game's producer Ryota Niitsuma.

"But we've taken him out, due to the fact that we've foreseen some extra work involved, just from the nature of his moves. We felt we could direct our resources to better use, so we've taken Frank out," he added.

He made no further mention of the possibility that West could appear as a future downloadable character, but did mention one other unlikely character that could.

"Phoenix Wright is obviously a famous franchise - especially in Europe, actually. It would be interesting to see him, although he distinctively lacks the number of moves he might have [in a fighting game]. But if Marvel vs. Capcom 3 does well, he's definitely up on the list as one of the characters to add, given the chance."

That's crazy talk. We like it.

He will.  I predict A LOT of character DLC in the future for this game.

I was going to preorder from Amazon.com ($10 preorder credit) but forgot to put in my order in time.  Now I'll just wait and pick it up used.

Next up on my preorder list is Bulletstorm.  Also from Amazon.com ($10 preorder credit).

I was going to buy Bulletstorm but I played MvC3 on the PS3 at a friend's house last night and I really enjoyed it (IE: I was kicking butt and loved the ego boost), so I might be picking this one up instead.

Holy crap is the fighting in this game cheap, though. Every fight came down to which person could be the cheapest jerk (which was usually me :) ).

I usually hit the random team button, but my favorites so far are:
Trish, hailing from some game I've never heard of or played, for her beautiful, 2/3 screen filling projectile spammage.
Amateratsu, the doggy, because he is so low to the ground that many things just pass him up. He also has a nice special that fills the entire screen, and his assist is pretty snazy as well.
And last but not least, Chun Li. Holy crap, Chun Li. She is the cheapest thing ever conceived of by man in all his cheap glory. Her Lightning-Legs move cancels right into any super move for a guaranteed hit. If she gets you into a corner at all you should just throw away the controller, as you are done playing.
