I still think I would love this game
Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

Heavy Rain Sells A Million

Good for them.  Maybe they can now afford an actual storywriter for their next story-based game.

They could just get the MW2 storywriters, that story was phenomenal  ;D

KoreRupt

Just have to say something about this game.

BEST GAME EVER.

Simple.

The End.

Nothing comes close.

Done.

Honour, Respect, Loyalty.

This may be the first time I've disagreed with Kore's opinion of a game.   :)

I love what the game tried to do.  But the controls, voice-acting and plot really disappointed me.

I hope Quantic Dream continues doing what they're doing.  The game concept has a lot of potential.

Heavy Rain outsells Xbox 360 rivals in 2010
Top 30 European software chart signifies Wii stronghold

Heavy Rain's turned out to be a significant win for Sony in Europe this year, achieving a chart position that's bested every Xbox 360 release in 2010 so far.

The data comes by way of Nintendo's end of year financial results, which claim that Heavy Rain charted tenth in Europe - above every Xbox 360 game on the list. This is a surprising win for a game that essentially birthed its own genre.

However, as the graphic shows, Nintendo formats still boss the territory. Wii titles Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros., and Just Dance take the top three positions respectively.

The Top 30 list was gathered by Nintendo from GfK's data for the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium. Although this doesn't represent all European countries, we'd expect these nine nations to comprise around 90 per cent of Europe's video games market.

Three other PS3 releases charted in the top ten. These were Final Fantasy XIII in fourth, Modern Warfare 2 in sixth and God of War III in eighth. The latter achieved a third position in the US according to NPD.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 has to be content with a twelfth position in the chart, with Battlefield Bad Company 2. Modern Warfare 2 comes in at fifteenth and Mass Effect 2 just behind in sixteenth. The discrepancy in chart positions for the two Call of Duty platforms suggests that, unlike in the US, Infinity Ward's game significantly outsold on the PS3 in the last few months.

The PS3 enjoys the most chart positions with nine of the top 30. The Xbox 360 sits just behind with eight, the Nintendo Wii lags with seven and the Nintendo DS achieves just six. Although the PS3 demonstrates a significant stronghold in Europe, PSP games failed to chart.

Heavy Rain receiving Move controls

Sony has said that Quantic Dream's highly acclaimed adventure game Heavy Rain has been reworked to use PlayStation Move controls.

The updated version of the game will be released at retail later this year and a patch will also be made available to existing owners.

Sony announced the news at its E3 press conference in Los Angeles along with news that Move will launch in September.

A video of Heavy Rain working with Move due out after the conference shows two people playing it while sat on a couch, although neither of them appeared to be a depressed father or an alienated child, and it wasn't raining outside.

I certainly hope it works better than the gawdawful SixAxis controls.  I nearly threw my shoulder out of place trying to steer the damn car on the freeway.   >:(

Cliffy B: Heavy Rain perfect for girls

Gears of War lynchpin Cliff Bleszinski believes Sony undersold Heavy Rain by not marketing the game directly to women.

Speaking in an interview with BioShock creator Ken Levine posted on Irrational Games' website, Epic design director Cliffy B explained, "I hate to sound misogynistic but it feels like such a great game for a girl who wouldn't normally play games.

"Because women love true crime! I don't know what it is. I've said it before – they love two things in life: queso dip and true crime.

"Y'know, you'd see Heavy Rain advertised in PlayStation Magazine and things like that. I'm like, dude, why isn't this in Entertainment Weekly? Why aren't you marketing this to the right crowd?

"There were scenes were I was almost literally dropping the controller it was paced so well. If you had that and shipped a disc with all those women's magazines you'd maybe have sold twice as much."

Bleszinski may well be right, but Quantic Dream's highly-regarded adventure sold pretty well just to the male half of the world's gaming population. Earlier this year creator David Cage announced it had moved 1.5 million units to date.

Finally getting this from Lovefilm tomorrow.   :)

Just got this from Lovefilm and before I can even play it theres a 1GB bloody patch so now I have to wait ages as my PS3 downloads at bloody dial up speeds before I can even install the damn thing!  Shocking, good job i've got a 360 to play on while I wait.   :)

I'd have to agree.  I've let a few friends borrow the game.  Whether they liked it or not, their wives/girlfriends all loved it.
