Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 has managed to claw its way to the top of the all-format chart in its second week of release.

The Electronic Arts golf game overtakes fellow EA title Fight Night Round 4 at the top, with the boxing game dropping to second place, above Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

With the movie fast approaching, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince climbs a massive six places to fourth, above western shooter Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood in fifth.

This week's only new title to penetrate the top ten comes in the form of Activision's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, which re-enters the chart at nine.

The top ten in full:

1. (2) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (Electronic Arts)

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

Call Of Juarez is doing pretty well, not bad considering in both Game & Gamestation it's £42.99 brand new.

UK charts: Batman straight in at the top

Batman: Arkham Asylum has swooped to the top of the UK all-formats chart, providing Eidos with a champion bigger than both Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.

The platform split went 55 per cent in Xbox 360's favour, and Batman arrives for PC on 18th September.

Elsewhere, little has changed. Ashes Cricket 2009 extends an impressive innings by nudging past last week's high-profile newcomer Wolfenstein to take three. Wolfenstein, therefore, falls to four, and is tailed by Wii Fit, Call of Duty: World at War, Mario Kart Wii and Tiger Woods.

Lego Batman enjoys a boost to take nine, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare rounds out the chart at 10 - it just keeps selling.

Other newcomers are the Fallout 3: Add-On Pack 2 (Broken Steel, Point Lookout) at 20, resulting in the reappearance of Fallout 3 at 37.

1     (NE)   Batman: Arkham Asylum  (PS3, Xbox 360)
2    (2)     Wii Sports Resort  (Wii)
3    (3)     Ashes Cricket 2009  (PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360)

I wonder how many kids asked mummy and daddy for Arkham Asylum, but got given Lego Batman instead?!  ;D

My thought exactly.  I bet some clueless parents (or even very young children) bought Lego Batman thinking it was Arkham Asylum.

Batman holds UK chart top spot

Arkham Asylum retained the top spot on the UK all formats chart during the week ended September 5.

Wii Sports Resort was also a non-mover at number two, despite an 11 per cent drop in weekly sales.

Retailer bundling of Sony's new cheaper and slimmer PS3 had "a marked effect" on the all formats chart during the week in question, according to sales monitor Chart-Track, with Activision-Blizzard one of the main beneficiaries. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare sales jumped 128 per cent week-on-week, helping the title move up seven spots to third.

Wii Fit and Ashes Cricket 2009 rounded off the top five, ahead of the week's highest new entry, 505 Games' IL2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey, which debuted in sixth place.

Square Enix's Dissidia Final Fantasy entered at number ten and Atari's Champions Online at 18. Also released on Friday, Nintendo's Metroid Prime Trilogy failed to make the all formats top 40, but charted at number seven on the Wii chart.

01. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Eidos)
02. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
03. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision)
04. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
05. Ashes Cricket 2009 (Codemasters)
06. IL2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey (505 Games)
07. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (EA)

UK CHARTS: Guitar Hero wins Band battle

Activision's music sequel outdoes EA's The Beatles: Rock Band at top of the UK Charts

Adding to the Beatles's loss in the music charts at the hands of the record-breaking Dame Vera Lynn, EA's licensed games outing The Beatles: Rock Band also missed out on the video games charts crown with Activision's Guitar Hero 5 emerging victorious to claim the top spot.

Guitar Hero 5 is the first game in the series to reach number one. On a plus note for The Beatles, however, it does manage to chart higher than any previous Rock Band title

In fact, The Beatles has to settle for fourth spot in its debut week in the listings, with Codemasters' Colin McRae Dirt 2 claiming number two in its first week of release – one place higher than its predecessor managed on its first week. In third place is Eidos' Batman: Arkham Asylum, which suffers a 60 per cent drop in sales.

Other new entries in the listings include a debut at 13th for Eidos's Championship Manager 2010, while the publisher's fellow title Mini Ninjas debuts at 15th. FPS Section 8, published by South Peak, debuts in 22nd spot.

Here's the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 10 in full (for the week ending September 12th):

1. Guitar Hero 5 (Activision Blizzard)
2. Colin McRae Dirt 2 (Codemasters)
3. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Eidos)
4. The Beatles: Rock Band (EA)
5. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
6. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
7. IL2 Sturmovik (505 Games)
8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision Blizzard)
9. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
10. Ashes Cricket 2009 (Codemasters)

Modern Warfare 2 makes a killing, bundled games rally in UK sales chart

Much like a dude-seeking missile dropped from an overhead predator drone, Modern Warfare 2 sales plummeted in the UK after the game's first day of availability. As you already know, the game moved 1.23 million copies on its launch day -- however, according to Chart Track's calculations, it finished off the week with a paltry 1.78 million units (for £67.4 million) sold. With pathetic figures like that, you know Activision's got to be feeling disappointed.

Other UK chart staples (Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort, FIFA 10) all maintained their top 10 ranking this week -- though the list had two unfamiliar visitors who vaulted to the top of the charts on the back of a new 360 bundle: Lego Batman (which jumped from 14th place to 7th) and Pure (which sprung from 23rd place to 9th). That's quite a comeback for these two titles, though perhaps they would have fared even better had they been bundled with copies of Modern Warfare 2 instead.

UK Charts: Modern Warfare still tops; Assassin's Creed 2 outperforms original's debut

The Assassin's Creed sequel may not have taken out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from the top spot on the UK charts, but the game did outperform the original's 2007 debut by 12 percent in unit sales. Although Chart Track doesn't give specific unit sales figures, it's staggering to think that Infinity Ward's FPS dropped 86 percent after its launch week and still retained the top spot.

Behind the big boys of violence, Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus took the next three spots, respectively. The hardened Left 4 Dead 2 shambled up to seventh spot.

1  CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2
2  ASSASSIN'S CREED II
3  NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. WII
4  WII SPORTS RESORT

6  FIFA 10
7  LEFT 4 DEAD 2

Maybe they'll exclude MW2 from the awards lists this year to give everything else a chance!

GamerMan316

Uncharted 2 is odds on favourite for Game of the Year, MW2 or AC2 will have to settle for 360 Game of the Year.
