New pre-order bonuses...introducing the 'Signature Edition'.

If you pre-order by January 11, 2011 you'll receive a download code to redeem an additional playable character and new missions (likely similar to The Stone Prisoner in Dragon Age: Origins), the Dragon Age 2 soundtrack and a brand spankin' new digital arsenal for your squad in addition to a copy of the game. If you're curious, the exclusive armory for your team consists of the Apostate's Courage staff, the Seeker's Bulwark shield, Adder of Antiva bow and arrow, and Might of the Sten sword.

I'm pretty sure I've already preordered.  I'll swing by GameStop this weekend just to make sure.   :)

Well I gave in and decided to pre-order...it was the DLC that drew me in for the 'signature edition', so expected a DA2 soundtrack give-away competition in March!

More info on the Pre-Order DLC

A description of the DLC content was also made available:

Quote"The Exiled Prince" introduces the noble archer Sebastian Vael, with players joining him in the middle of his quest to avenge the brutal murder of his family. Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, Sebastian is forced to re-enter the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in Kirkwall. In addition to this action-packed storyline, players will also be able to enlist Sebastian as a follower throughout a majority of Dragon Age II.

"The Exiled Prince" will be available for download on March 11, 2011, the same day as Dragon Age II's European release. If you do not get the DLC via the Bioware Signature Edition, you can purchase it for 560 MSP once it's released. Dragon Age II will be available in North America just days earlier on March 8, 2011.

I've been messaging Chris Priestly at Bioware for the last couple of days trying to gfet a straight answer about whether DA2 will be region locked or not and all I get are completely non-committal replies like 'Well we can't guarantee a game from a region you don't live in will work on your Xbox' and 'We don't advise you to order a game from a different region'
How hard is it to say 'Yes, DA2 will have a region lock programmend into it' or 'no DA2 will be region free'? Even Bethesda gave me a straight answer about F:NV. It was the absolute wrong answer, but it was still an answer. I find myself getting a bit disenfranchised with Bioware thanks to their uncertain customer service.

Jaynestown

Must resist the temptation to buy this new, still haven't finished the first one which is just too time consuming. I'll get it cheap in the summer when it's reduced to £20, by which time I may have completed the first one.

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

Region-locks may be a publisher issue.  BioWare may not know the answer.

I would suggest contacting EA ....... but EA's customer service is infuriating.

Legion

Even if that is so, they could've just said 'go talk to Mr. EA customer service guy, we don't deal with that'
I just hate getting the run around from people who don't know how to give a straight answer.
Still though, I think it's pretty cool that I managed to have, let alone sustain, a conversation (no matter how short and ultimately pointless) with one of the higher ups at a game company I currently idolise.
And now that I've re-found out about Play-Asia and preordered the NTSC version there, it's a non issue now and I can start loving Bioware again.

Dragon Age 2 has 103 mins of cutscenes

BioWare fantasy role-playing game Dragon Age 2 has a whopping 103 minutes of cutscenes.

The impressive figure was revealed by the BBFC, which has given the game its expected 18-rating certificate for "strong bloody violence".

Dragon Age 2's 103 minutes of cutscenes eclipses Killzone 3's 70 minutes worth, revealed by the BBFC earlier this month.

Dragon Age 2 was cleared for release with no cuts made.

Its age rating comes as no surprise. Dragon Age was a particularly gory role-player. After combat blood would remain on armour and clothing – which made for some hilarious cutscenes.

Legion

If nothing has to be cut, that's great news. Less chance of delays due to having to change stuff. I approve :D

The first Dragon Age had a lot of great cutscenes.  Probably not 103 minutes, but I do remember sitting on the edge of my seat watching them, adrenaline pumping.

They were pretty funny.  Sometimes, depending on the conversation, the scene would take a very disturbing meaning.

It always gave me a chuckle to see my character, covered head to toe in gore, have some mundane conversation with an npc like nothing just happened.

DA2, much like the first game, is not on my list of must plays. That said, I'll probably get around to playing it eventually and will be totally sucked in for a ridiculous amount of time like the first game.

This time though, I'll be sure not to follow Neato's romantic advice. "Go with Morigan", he says. Damn you, sir!

Take me back, Lilliana! I didn't mean it, honest!
Your mom!

Legion

Why pick just one woman when you can have them all. Twice. And Zevran too :D
