Show unread posts since last visit - not working

got a new laptop and now the 'show unread posts since last visit' isn't showing anything. Any ideas?

I believe (could be wrong) that the 'Show unread posts since last visit' link pulls from your internet browser's cache.  If this is true, then new laptop = empty cache = no record of unread posts.

I notice the same thing when I visit the site on my home computer, as opposed to my work computer that I mostly use on the forum.  My remedy is using the 'View the most recent posts on the forum' link at the bottom of the site.

However, I could be wrong.  If anyone that isn't using a different computer is noticing a similar problem, post here and let me know.

it seems to be working today, i logged out as i left yesterday and logged back ino this morning. Tis mostly working now.

Hmm still doesnt work, will just use 'View the most recent posts on the forum' as i cant be bothered trying to fix it.

Are you also seeing this after accessing the site from 2 different computers?  Or is this something you experience using the same computer?

I made some backend changes that store user 'cookies' on the server instead of your computer.

PRO:  Your activity is recorded globally so unread topics should now follow you regardless of what computer you're using.
CON:  You might experience more 'Logouts', meaning you may have to type in your username & password more often.

Like any fix, you never know what additional problems they might create.  If you notice an improvement, let me know.  If you notice the problem continues, or any additional problems, let me know.

I had to log in this morning

Since the 'cookie' change last night sort of resets your personal history, you might have noticed your Unread Posts were not accurate.

But hopefully, the next time you log in everything will be back to normal.  If you continue having problems with unread posts not appearing in your Unread Posts link, let me know.  The problem may be a deeper issue.
