Wednesday Theme Night - Music Night (August 25th)

erm.... does anyone know if i will be able to play ALL of rock band 2's tracks in online multiplayer even though i haven't unlocked them yet?? If i can't that will be a bit sh*t, as some of the songs i have yet to unlock are my faves.

That's a good question mate, never tried it online yet so i'm not sure, I think i've got a few tracks to unlock yet too.

n1 neato, i've never played RB2 so i would have had like 5 songs to pick from!

wow what a hassle for me.

About 9:50 i turned on the box and started answering my daily messages ... with a guitar. I then decide to plug my headset in. Where, i have no idea, so i checks interbob. I only have old style headsets that don't fit. So i cut off the black fins on the headset insert, no luck. I take the casing off, works great, falls apart in 5 secons flat. That's dead.

I go; f*ck it. Insert code for unlocking all songs, doesn't work, interbob trip #2. Turn on cheat, disables online play. Turn off cheat. Go on LIVE, how do i invite (i forgot i could just push guide button), beg neato for help, find button, invite people ..... but i can't tell them my chat doesn't work, log off, log in with mic, tell them .... log off, log in with guitar.

Enjoy Elle cringing whenever craig got to pick a song, neato's wooden spoon but not craig picking a song, then picking bass so i was guitar which had the most ridiculous solo at the end with 5billion hammer ons and made my right index finger fall off

A great night after a catalogue of errors and tomorrow i will be buying a 'new style' headset as it was amazing how much i missed chat.

i tried the cheat code and realised it didn't work for online, then when i got into the game i realised i didn't need the code as all the songs were unlocked for us for online play anyways. I have the new style headset but fizz used the old one and it fit fine into the GH3 wireless les paul, i guess you are using a different guitar.  Oh well, me markav and fizz had great fun, and markav was playing expert guitar, well, expertly. I did really well on drums on medium until markav decided to pick the hardest drum song in the world, though i forget what it's called now. Well done to fizz for playing really well on bass and guitar even though you have never played a music game before, and cheers to craig who joined us after markav went, we were gonna go to bed but changed our mind after i had already told neato we were going - sorry neato but we did wait and see if you would come back. Anyway great theme night, thanks to everyone. I will definitely look forward to the next time we play RB2

It was the first time a lot of us (including me) has ever played Rock Band online.  It was .... an experience.  

Now that we're a little familiar with how it works, our next Music Night will go much smoother.

New things I learned:

• During online play, the singer can speak freely in between songs, but during songs their speech is cut off from the group.  Probably for the best , and good to know if you're a shy singer.
• Calibrate your insruments in the menu options before entering the game.  Once you're in the game, it's far too much hassle (or impossible) to do anything other than play the game.  That includes changing instruments, which actually forces you to leave the game and wait for an invite.  I really hope they fix that crap in RB3.  
• Using a wooden spoon as a replacement drum stick will give your hand a blister.

My 6-year-old nephew had claimed ownership of my RB drums since the last time I played (4th of July maybe?).  The drums are falling apart to say the least.  All the more reason to buy Rock Band 3 when it drops!  

Great fun tonight, I even got a cheevo.  I'm psyched I can finally play Rock Band with all of you.  Looking forward to the next time Music Night hits the rotation.

Great fun last night, shame i had work today as i wanted to carry on. Hope that guy who joined our partychat didnt mind my singing too much

you should try and get rock band 2 cheap, it's frickin' brilliant fun online and off. What did ya think of markav's singing? lol. There was a delay so every line he sung was about 10 seconds behind the song, it was so funny. He sounded like the old man herbert from family guy trying to lure chris into his basement with a serenade! 
It was hilarious me and fizz couldn't concentrate we were laughing that much, seriously can't wait for next time. Cheers markav, you made our night
