Fair point mate, people have moaned about the lack of colours already though, shouldn't really be a problem for any of us lot to be fair or anyone that's played on a 360 for years.

Amazon discounts transforming Xbox 360 controller

Late last year, Microsoft released a new kind of Xbox 360 controller. This new controller has a gray and black color scheme that is a departure from the original Xbox 360 controllers. It also used to be more expensive than older controllers. Today (January 23, 2011) Amazon knocked $21 off the new Xbox 360 controller, effectively bringing it down to $43.99.

The biggest difference this controller has is its transforming directional pad. With a simple twist, the d-pad can either provide easier 360 degree movement, or provide better access to the four directions typically offered by a d-pad. The extra cost is worth it to some gamers who aren't fans of the d-pad design on most Xbox 360 controllers. This feature is best used in games that explicitly require using the d-pad for certain actions such as Street Fighter IV.

The controller also comes with the Play & Charge Kit.

The question here is whether you really need this special mutant controller. Normally I'd say no, but this 32% discount has made the new controller cheaper than old ones with a Play & Charge Kit. So unless you can't imagine using a Xbox 360 controller without the trademark orange, blue, red and green face buttons, I'd say go for it.
