My money is on an on-rails shooter, to be released on Xbox Live Arcade as a promotional tie in with Gears 3.

Simple but effective.

If it added any benefit to Gears 3 (or 4) a la Dead Rising Case Zero I'd buy it.

I'll read the cliff notes.   :)

Gears of War Ultimate revealed, Kinect edition?

Epic and Microsoft may have delayed the Gears of War announcement for the VGAs, but the game in question may have just been accidentally revealed ahead of an official announcement. Could this be the rumored Kinect version of Gears of War?

Appearing in both store registries and online, a new listing for an Xbox 360 title known as Gears of War Ultimate has appeared. On the listing, there are no details about the game or what it contains, but it does have a release date and a price point. Set to release on February 15th, 2011, Gears of War Ultimate is priced at $29.95.

If you recall, Epic and Microsoft had a Gears of War-related announcement planned for the VGAs, but it was removed last minute. Earlier in the month, IGN also ran a rumor of a Kinect-enabled version of Gears of War. Could Gears of War Ultimate be just that? Without direction confirmation, it's pure speculation at this point, but if the release date holds true, we should hear an announcement in early 2011.

Of course, it could just be Gears of War and Gears of War 2 combo-pack with all the DLC. Is a Kinect patch incoming for Gears of War? If so, are you interested in playing Gears of War with Kinect?

This would assume that I'd be interested in Kinect to begin with, and you know what happens when you assume...    ;)
I'd be much more interested in a combo-pack with all the DLC, although, I already have both games and couple of the DLC packs.

Failed

they already do a gold edition with all the DLC.

A lot of the online rumours suggest that Gears of War Ultimate will just be the first two games and all DLC bundled together for around £20.  Now if that also included another chance to get all the achievements then i'll be getting it.   :)

Failed

yeh, if it doubles achieves i might be tempted.

Gears of War Kinect an "on-rails shooter"

Epic's Gears of War Kinect game is an on-rails shooter, according to a new report.

Sources told Kotaku that movement is governed not by the player but by the computer.

A demo of the game is said to have reused "assets and events" from Gears of War 2, although it is unclear how the final game will look and control.

Kinect Gears of War was first rumoured in November last year. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski hit Twitter to ensure fans the upcoming Gears of War 3 would not support Microsoft's motion-sensing add-on.

The game was expected to be revealed at the Spike Video Game Awards, only for it to be pulled last minute. "It turns out the timing's not right," explained Bleszinski.

Then, last month, a trademark for something called Gears of War: Exile popped up on the internet. A spokesperson for Epic refused to offer Eurogamer further clarification on what the listing may or may not refer to, explaining, "We have no news to share at this time."

With the Game Developers Conference only weeks away, fans may not have long to wait to hear more on Gears of War Kinect.

Knew it.   :-\

I guess it could still be fun.  I've enjoyed railshooters before.

Failed

panzer dragoon was considered a good game and that was a rail shooter.

My opinion = Cash In

if it gets half decent reviews i will be getting this. why movement can't be controlled by walking on the spot i will never know, maybe because gamers would get bored or tired of walking on the spot all the time? I wouldn't mind but that's me.

I think walking on the spot would get old quick. Hell, I hate it when GTA 4 makes me mash the A button to sprint.

I would prefer 'leaning' kind of like you're on a Segway.  It would probably be tricky to pickup those kinds of micro-movements without making the game accidentally move you in the wrong direction, but I'll leave that to the Kinect gurus to figure out.

The only solution I can think of us having akimbo hands controls:
Main hand = Shootey thing. Make a gun with your fingers, pull your trigger finger, bullets come out.
Off hand = Navigational tool, ala Minority Report. Play with your off-hand palm-forward. Press your hand down/forward to advance, pull back to backpedal, wave side to side for strafing, etc...
Head movements rotates the cam.

It still would be clunky as hell, but it is the best I can think of.

I would be curious to try that out.  I may not spend money on it, but definitely curious.
