Ready, Summer 2012? Here Comes Batman 3!

Same bat channel, new bat time.

Warner Bros. isn't about to let little detals like no title, no production start date and no locked-down plot stop it from setting up a tentpole, as the studio today announced a July 20, 2012, release date for the third installment of the rebooted Batman franchise.

Christian Bale will be back in the cowl under the direction of Christopher Nolan.

With the release date now set, Nolan is currently hashing out a story for the Dark Knight followup, which already faces some steep competition. Also headed to the big screen in 2012: The Avengers (May 4), Battleship (May 25), Star Trek 2 (June 29), and what will likely be the Bat's biggest competition: the Spider-Man reboot's reboot (July 3).

Comic geeks, get ready.

Kick-Ass director in negotiations to helm X:Men First Class

As anticipated, Kick-Ass Director Matthew Vaughn is in negotiations to direct X-Men: First Class for Twentieth Century Fox. Vaughn had received an offer last week but creative control concerns stymied the progress of the deal. Over the weekend, however, those issues were resolved and talks resumed for Vaughn to helm the movie, which tells the story of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and the other X-Men in their younger years, played by younger actors (no word yet on whether Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine since his character doesn't age as the others do). The script comes from Jamie Moss based on Bryan Singer's treatment.

The deal is surprising because Vaughn turned down directing X-Men: The Last Stand back in 2005 after he had negotiated a pact with the studio. Fox later hired Brett Ratner to helm the most successful of all X-Men films while Vaughn went on to direct the disappointing Stardust for Paramount and, just three weeks ago, released the fanboy favorite Kick-Ass.

Kane & Lynch movie poster seen at Cannes

The Kane & Lynch movie project appears to be moving smoothly -- it's to the "poster" stage already. Proving beyond a doubt that the casting is a "done deal"(as tweeted by writer  Kyle Ward), Empire spotted a Kane & Lynch movie poster with billing for both Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx at the Cannes Film Festival. This poster covers the entrance to the Majestic Hotel, making it look a bit more like the Tacky Hotel.

According to Empire, the poster gives the film a 2011 date, but we don't see it. Perhaps it's behind that inconsiderately placed luggage cart.

I thought Kane and Lynch were both white, or was the only person they could get Jamie Foxx?  ;D

They are both white, but this is Hollywood, they don't care about source material, just look at how they completely r*pe Japanese cinema, the games industry gets off lightly in comparison.   :)

Look at Daredevil. The Kingpin is white, but somehow ended up as Michael Clark Duncan. But we'll let that one slide cos he's awesome.

Nope that was Ving Rhames, much better actor, who ended up being Kojak in the new TV series, another white character.
