He still wants to do a Deadpool film too but people aren't sure if it's actually going to happen.

Some movie news:

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' sets global IMAX record

As if you needed any further proof that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 is a box-office powerhouse, IMAX revealed today that the fantasy film set a global opening-weekend record of $16.1 million from 340 IMAX theaters. Of that figure, $11.8 million came from domestic IMAX screens. The previous record holder, Alice in Wonderland, debuted in March to $15.3 million globally from IMAX locations.

Christian Bale says 'The Dark Knight Rises' will be 'the last time' he plays Batman

Christian Bale isn't sure that he'll be heading back to Gotham after The Dark Knight Rises. "This will be, I believe, until Chris [Nolan] says different, the last time I'll be playing Batman," Bale told E!. "Absolutely, we want to go all out with it."

"I don't even know if [The Dark Knight Rises is] the right title," Bale said. "Until Chris tells me, I don't believe it."

Bale was not expected to play Batman forever; his contract called for three films. But since the actual plot details for TDKR – if that is it's real name — are so tantalizingly vague, Bale's confirmation of something — anything — concrete attracts some added significance.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' remake: Kristy Swanson supports it... and wants to act in it

Joss Whedon has already spoken out about plans for an upcoming Buffy the Vampire slayer remake, and now Kristy Swanson, the first woman who first brought the vamp-killing heroine to life on the big screen, also has something to say about it: "Let Buffy live. Why not?"

"If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast," she tells EW.

Swanson was 22 when she first stepped into the role that would be transformed by Sarah Michelle Gellar seven years later, and she remembers that her first reaction to the new take on the character was, in fact, positive. ("It was a whole new idea, a whole new look," she says.) And she believes a transformation can happen again — even without its original maker. "There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so. He's a brilliant man, no doubt," she says. "I love everything Buffy. I don't care who's doing it."

Swanson's co-star, Luke Perry said via his rep that he has no comment on the project.

Verbinski Re-Teaming with Depp on 'Lone Ranger'

Gore Verbinski will direct Disney's "The Lone Ranger," TheWrap has confirmed

Having done the near-impossible by making a pirate film people actually went to see, Verbinski will turn his attention to a different box office-challenged genre. The western.

"Lone Ranger" will reunite the director with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" team. Johnny Depp will star as Tonto and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce. No word yet on who will don the Ranger's mask and six shooters.

Depp and Verbinski also teamed up on the upcoming animated film "Rango."  After directing the previous three "Pirates" films, Verbinski ceded directing duties for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" to "Nine" director Rob Marshall.

Disney did not say say when filming would start or when the film would be released.

Sherlock Holmes 2 and The Hangover 2 first images

Sherlock Holmes 2 and The Hangover 2 have had their first official images released online.

The WB sequels are slated for release next year, and have been furiously shooting for the past few weeks (and months).

Firstly, could this shot from Holmes 2 be the big action scene that was shot at the Didcot Railway Centre a few weeks back?

Nobody's talking yet – but just look how cool Noomi Rapace looks slotted in next to her Holmes co-stars. It's like she's always been there.

Meanwhile, the first look at the next Hangover movie shows our four leads at the airport, preparing to jet off to Thailand for Stu's (Ed Helms) wedding. We imagine the coming home photo won't look quite so poised.

The Hangover 2 opens on 27 May, 2011.  Sherlock Holmes 2 opens on 16 December, 2011.

Wahlberg takes lead in Uncharted movie

Mark Wahlberg has officially been cast as Nathan Drake in the forthcoming movie version of Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3 exclusive Uncharted series.

The former Funky Bunch lynchpin revealed the news in an interview with MTV's Multiplayer blog, stating that Three Kings director David O Russell hopes to start filming in the summer.

"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with," said Wahlberg. "The idea that he has is just insane."

As rumoured earlier this month, it looks like Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are also in the frame.

"That's who he wants to write the parts for," Wahlberg explained. "I talked to Pesci about it and I know David's people have talked to [Robert De Niro].

"I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

Should you want to eye up Wahlberg's suitabilty for the roll of square-jawed hero Nathan Drake, you can see him do his thing in The Boxer due in cinemas this year.

Naughty Dog, meanwhile, is rumoured to be prepping a third chapter in the Uncharted saga, with a reveal expected at the Spike Video Game Awards next month.

Just stumbled across this & thought i'd share it.   :)

Old newspaper clipping proves Vader spoiled the ending to 'Empire' 2 years before it released!

Everyone knows (even if you're not a fan) that the ending of The Empire Strike's Back, where Darth Vader reveals that he is in fact Luke Skywalker's father, was one of the biggest twists in movie history.  People were just so shocked and fans were left slack-jawed in the movie theaters.  Back then it was a tightly held secret and the director Irvin Kershner even went so far as to film an alternate ending, and it wasn't until James Earl Jones did the voice work, was the true ending revealed.  Now it seems like all of that was for nothing as David Prowse had already spilled the beans two years previously.

It's amazing the world we live in today.  With the internet, it's a simple matter of searching Google in order to find out every spoiler (hell sometimes the whole damn script) of a movie.  Directors have to be very careful these days in order to keep their movies secret, but even back in the 70s and 80s it was a top priority for these blockbusters.

That's why I find this newspaper clipping so interesting.  It seems that back in 1978 (a full two years before Empire Strikes Back was released), David Prowse, the man who portrayed Darth Vader in his suit, told a local newspaper about the shocking secret.  Now this is well before the movie began filming, and took place during a special event where he met with fans.  During the event he thrilled his fans by saying that "Star Wars II" would be filming very soon.

In the following interview he then said that Vader and Luke were really Father and Son.  So how an Earth did he know?  My best guess...he really didn't.  At the time, no one actually new, and the script itself didn't have the true line in there (that was in Lucas' head).  Prowse is kind of notorious for his wild statements, and more than likely he made it up on the spot in order to garner more media attention.

Being that this was a local newspaper and the Internet didn't yet exist, the news stayed fairly low key and thus the ending wasn't spoiled except for the group of people who read that paper. Either way, it's an interesting tidbit of information for Star Wars fans...and proof that even back then Star Wars had spoilers!
