Revenge Star Cast as Female Lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Emily VanCamp joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has its female lead. Deadline reports that Emily VanCamp, who plays Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke on ABC's Revenge, has joined the cast of the Marvel Studios film. VanCamp was not among the short list of actresses revealed last fall.

The identity of the character is not confirmed, though she is a romantic interest to Steve Rogers which to anyone familiar with the comics suggests Sharon Carter, the niece of Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger. Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson and Toby Jones are also set for the film, which opens on April 4th, 2014.

Looks horrible, And not in a good horror film horrible way. Why can't film makers come up with new ideas for horror films instead of bastardising old classics.

Full synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Paul Giamatti and Colm Feore confirmed

A first full synopsis has gone online for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with the first concrete plot details revealed about Spidey’s ongoing adventures.

The official press release also confirms Paul Giamatti’s involvement, while Colm Feore has also been added to the cast in an undisclosed role.

“In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy,” begins the official blurb. “Between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough.

“Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away - but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

Directed by Marc Webb and co-starring Shailene Woodley and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

Here we go with yet another bizarre casting choice!

Fox Reloading ‘Hitman’ With Paul Walker As Bald Barcoded Assassin Agent 47

EXCLUSIVE: Fox International Productions is rebooting Hitman, the live action film adaptation of the hit Square Enix video game. They’ve set The Fast And The Furious‘s Paul Walker to star in Agent 47, an action film that was written by A Good Day To Die Hard‘s Skip Woods and Michael Finch and will be directed by Aleksander Bach, a highly regarded commercials director making his feature helming debut.

This gives a new start to Hitman, which was turned into a 2007 film that starred Timothy Olyphant as the genetically engineered elite assassin with the barcode tattooed on the back of his head. Woods wrote that movie, which wasn’t a rave with the critics, but grossed $100 million worldwide. The new film, with Walker playing the lethal protagonist, will shoot in Berlin and Singapore this summer after Walker completes a global press tour for Fast And Furious 6. Walker will shave his head and make this his first big film after Fast 6, whose trailer has been generating 20,000 tweets an hour since it debuted during Sunday’s Super Bowl. Production on the film begins in June.

FIP, led by Sanford Panitch, sees this as a potential gold mine both in the U.S. but especially in the overseas marketplace, where the video game has moved over 20 million units and where Walker has done very well with Universal’s race car franchise and films like Eight Below. Agent 47 will be produced by Chuck Gordon, Alex Young, and Adrian Askarieh. Daniel Alter will be exec producer. 20th Century Fox will distribute in the US and worldwide.

UTA and Luber Roklin Entertainment rep Walker. Finch and Bach are repped by Verve.

Disney confirms standalone Star Wars movies
“Derived from great Star Wars characters”

After yesterday’s rumour that Yoda might be receiving his own spin-off movie, Disney has today confirmed that several Star Wars standalone projects are indeed in the works.

The new films will deal with some of the characters who won’t be receiving as much screen-time in the new trilogy, with several spin-offs to be released over the same kind of timescale as the main series.

“I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films,” revealed Disney CEO, Bob Iger. “Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga.

“We still plan to make Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period, too.”

Sounds like Yoda might be getting his own outing after all! In the meantime, Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to arrive in the UK in 2015.

Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) to play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy

I know this may be borderline blasphemy to say, but Chris Pratt could possibly be the world's next Nathan Fillion.

Evil Dead 4 Will Be Written This Summer

Under normal circumstances, a remake or a reboot is typically Hollywood's way of saying, "Forget about the old movies, we're bringing you something new!" For example, at this stage in the game nobody is thinking that we'll ever see a direct sequel to Spider-Man 3 or Batman and Robin. But apparently that's not the case for the Evil Dead .

While the remake of the 80s horror classic is set to premiere at SXSW and hit theaters on on April 5th, apparently hopes for a sequel to the Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness aren't completely dead. The filmmaker is currently doing the press tour for the upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful, and at a recent Meet The Filmmakers event in London, via Bleeding Cool, the director has confirmed that plans for Evil Dead 4 not only exist, but are in active development. Said Raimi during the event, "I would love to make Evil Dead 4. My brother and I plan to work on the script this summer." While Ted Raimi has appeared as an actor in all three of the previous films, presumably Sam is referring to his brother Ivan, who previously worked on the scripts for Drag Me to Hell, Army of Darkness and Darkman.

As excited as I am for the remake - and how could you not be after the sick, stellar red band trailer that came out in January - this news totally blows my mind. Creating a sequel in addition to a remake truly is the best of both worlds, as we'll be able to see what the modern take on the story is in addition to learning about the future adventures of Ash, the legendary hero played by Bruce Campbell. There is one thing that this story has me left wondering: is it possible that the Evil Dead remake isn't a remake at all and is really just a continuation of the original story that will have Ash return and continue the adventure? We'll just have to wait and find out.

Report: Bale to Return as Batman in Justice League?
Plus, Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder in talks to lead the project.

Christian Bale is in talks to reprise his role as Batman in DC's upcoming Justice League movie, Christopher Nolan will oversee the project, and Man of Steel-helmer Zack Snyder will produce - and possibly direct - if a new report from Latino Review is to be believed.

The website claims that Nolan is now in charge of the entire DCU at Warner Bros., and is in discussions to act as a sort of Godfather to the project, as well as produce alongside Zack Snyder. The studio allegedly wants the film to be set in the same universe as Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, which naturally means a return of Bale's Batman. Not only that, but Justice League would also tie in with Snyder's gritty Man of Steel, which means - you guessed it - Bale's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman would appear in the same universe, in the same movie, at the same time.

As the website correctly notes, Bale wouldn't be against reprising the role, as long as the story was right. "I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work," he told Empire Magazine last summer.

Considering Marvel hit the billion-dollar jackpot with the culmination of its Phase One shared universe model, The Avengers, imagine what Warner Bros. could spin by crossing over their top-tier DC properties? And if Justice League releases in 2015 as planned, it will go up against The Avengers 2 the same year, which is certainly an unprecedented clash of the comic book movie titans.

While the information is definitely still camped out in rumorville, the folks at Latino Review have traditionally proven themselves to be a reliable source for scoops, and this could certainly be one of their biggest.

We'll update with any new information as we get it.
