Catherine Demo Planned For XBL

Catherine is a bit of an unknown quantity at present, which is more than a bit unusual considering that the game's Japanese release date is just over a month away. At present, there have been a few details on the story and characters, as well as a few cryptic trailers, but nothing on the actual gameplay has been revealed.

Thank goodness that there's a demo in the pipeline then, which will finally give prospective buyers the chance to find out what Catherine is all about. The game's director, Katsura Hashino, confirmed that a demo is incoming via a post on the game's official blog, where he also addressed feedback he'd received regarding Catherine.

Hashino noted that "many people are excited" about Catherine, but acknowledged a sequence of confusion, with concerns including, "If it's sexual, I can't buy it" and questions like "I'm gonna buy this, but what kind of game is it?" Check out one of the several weird and wonderful trailers released thus far below, and see whether you can make head or tail of what's going on there. Death, cleavage and sheep is all we got from it.

All will be revealed when the demo for Catherine is released, which will presumably be ahead of the Japanese date for the game's launch on February 17th.

I remember seeing a video about this a while ago. It didn't look particularly interesting, but I guess the demo will let me know for sure. Hopefully it's crap, so I don't feel obligated to spend money on it that I don't have.

I read a preview of this in Game Informer.  They seem to be excited for it since it's from the Persona team.  From what they revealed, it's going to be a lot more accessible than Persona, which is good.  Just not sure if "accessible" is what Persona fans are looking for.

CONFIRMED:  Catherine will release in North America on July 26 2011.  No word on a European release yet.
