Call of Juarez: The Cartel set in modern day LA
Arriving this summer

In what is clearly a desperate attempt to capitalise on the increased popularity of games (well, game) with a Wild West setting, Ubisoft has announced that Call of Juarez: The Cartel will... not actually be set in the Wild West at all, but will instead take place in modern day Los Angeles. Okay, we didn't see that one coming.

The initial screenshots, which you can see below, will give you a sense of the "modern day Wild West" tone that the developers at Techland are attempting to achieve for The Cartel. "The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot", according to the press release.

The game is due out this Summer, so if this all makes some kind of sense to you then you won't have too long to wait to get hold of it. Frankly, we think it looks pretty ridiculous.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel set in modern day LA

I was in LA recently, and I have to admit ...              that's pretty accurate.
