More of a leaning towards accomplishment and conquering certain tasks. The more you die the harder it gets until eventually you either quit with rage or succeed with..'words here''!!lol

Not for the feint hearted, jaw dropping bosses, player to player world invasion or assistance.

Yeah so epic and difficult, and yeah a lot of people will shy away due to the spike in difficulty, but From Software make no apology for that, its meant to be that way. Anyone that gets 1k points on this shall be declared a gaming god and can retire!!:)

Just how good is it?  Seriously thinking about getting this today but am slightly put off by the reports that its tough since I have below average gaming skillz

Update: I picked it back up at apx. 7:00am and just put it down to you know, not starve. 

Game scratches a serious itch in my lower brainstem.  It's been years since a game got my dopamine floodgates to open up like this and keep me up all night. 

To answer your question, it's very, very good. It's not incredibly difficult, just incredibly unforgiving.  You make a mistake, you die.  However I only rarely feel 'cheated' by the game.  You definitely have to be ok with losing an hour or two of your time here and there from mistakes you made. There are occasions where you'll spend time working through a level only to make a couple of mistakes and then the reset button is hit on your last hour of gaming. It can be a bit of a pill to swallow.

That being said, it's not difficult like beating a Call of Duty on veteran is tough. The tempo of combat is relatively slow paced, forcing you to be extremely methodical about your actions. The game also does not 'instruct' you on very much at all, so it's not uncommon to wander into an area completely above your level or hit the occasional boss that requires multiple repeats.

All of the bosses and enemies have very observable patterns, and you just have to learn to work against those patterns. So they're discreet challenges. It's less about having good gaming reactions and more about having focus and patience. I love it.

I've been reading about this and watching videos most of the day and still can't decide.

The fact that you say it's that absorbing has me excited and worried in equal measure.  Not sure if I can afford to spend that much time on another beast of a game.

I am keen to get this as I like a good challenge. Completing Ng black on the original Xbox was another harsh but fair test. I just have a feeling that in a couple of weeks there will be hundreds of copies of this available second hand as people won't like the challenge and it will be easy go pick up a cheap copy
