Yep, still might come out today, Epic are having technical issues apparently, people on Epic's forums are going nuts about it like they haven't got anything better to do, lack of patience obviously is a major issue over there!

Probably something to do with letting people without the DLC play as long as the host has it I reckon or Epic are just being lazy!

Apparently it's a marketplace problem that's delaying the DLC and also only the maps & characters are on the disc, the Horde updates aren't or so a load of people are saying over at Epic, lot's of anger over there!

According to the Gears Facebook page the dlc is now available, not sure if it's true as i'm not home.

Horde Command Pack is available, also found this:

'As “Gears of War 3” Horde Mode devotees around the world celebrate today’s launch of the “Horde Command Pack,” Epic Games and Microsoft are giving thanks to the entire fan base with the announcement of the “Versus Booster Map Pack,” available for free on Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Thanksgiving Day â€" Nov. 24.

The “Versus Booster Map Pack” will feature five explosive maps available in public matchmaking playlists â€" two favorite maps from “Gears 1,” Swamp and Clocktower, as well as Azura, Rustlung and Blood Drive from the “Horde Command Pack.”

While the “Versus Booster Map Pack” will unlock five new multiplayer battlegrounds for public matchmaking, those who purchase the “Horde Command Pack” (or access it through the “Gears of War 3” Season Pass) will still have exclusive access to the pack’s Horde fortification upgrades, new playable characters like Bernie Mataki, Big Rig Dizzy and the Onyx Guard, as well as the Team Plasma and Jungle Camo weapon skins.

Played a bit of the recent Halloween event yesterday. Felt like I should have played more of it, earlier, was a good time - even with some randoms. Liked the pumpkin-heads too, way more squishy for the sniper shots 

Will make it a point to check out this upcoming event earlier.

Welcome to the Alpha Playlist.

What is Alpha? Glad you asked. Alpha is a new playlist incorporated into Gears of War 3 that offers players a familiar, yet different experience from our standard playlists. So let’s get right to it and take a peek at all of the ingredients that make an Alpha cake.


    Team Size: 4
    Gametypes: Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Execution
    Loadout: Lancer/Gnasher
    Weapon Pick-ups: Default with the some custom swaps. See below.
    Weapon Respawn: Set to “After Pick-up” with quicker respawn times.


We wanted to see how Gears of War 3 would play out if some of the starting weapons were placed on the maps as pick-ups. I’ll lay it all out for you guys so you can set these swaps up and play Private matches with the Alpha settings if you so desire.

    • Gorgon -> Hammerburst
    • Boltok -> Retro Lancer
    • Scorcher -> Sawed-Off

These are playlist swaps and not map specific. So all you need to do is set up these swaps once and then you can play Private matches with the Alpha settings without having to change it up for every map. Nice!

Something to keep in mind here is that this is only the first version of Alpha and the success or failure of this playlist is predicated upon how much you (the community) play and contribute to it. So please provide feedback and let us know what you would like to see happen with Alpha.

Lots of idiots on the Epic forums arguing about the fact that the Horde Command Pack maps will be free in the Versus Booster Pack in a few weeks, while the maps will be free, along with Clocktower and Swamp (formerly Bullet Marsh), if you get the Booster Pack you won't be able to play the maps in Horde, Beast or Private, you won't get three new characters, two new weapon skins, new fortifications and probably more important for some of us guys........ no achievements.
