Gears of War 3 delayed

Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 3 has been delayed from 8th April 2011 to "Fall 2011".

According to a statement sent by Microsoft, Epic Games' third-person shooter was moved "to make it the marquee title for the holiday season".

"Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011," the Microsoft statement reads.

"The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the spring of 2011. However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."

Gears of War 3 fans might be disappointed that Epic's shooter has been delayed by five months but Epic is promising an announcement this week to help ease the pain, reports CVG.
"Gears 3 has been moved to Holiday 2011," says design director Cliff Bleszinski. "News incoming shortly that will be quite the silver lining. Have faith."

Meanwhile, Epic's VP Mark Rein said "Re: Gears3 coming out in holiday... there are some nice silver linings hiding in this cloud. More news next week."

Hmmm. What could the announcement be, do you think?

Lots of people hoping for a map editor and theatre mode on Gears 3 maybe one of those will be announced, the majority of members on the Epic forums think that dedicated servers will be the silver lining.  All three would be nice, all Gears 1 maps to be free for Gears 2 while we wait would be extra nice too, Rooftops on Gears 2 would be sweet.

I'd love it on the PS3 if only for a bit of extra graphical polish and some easy trophies, won't happen of course but stranger things have happened.

A demo would be nice but Epic never do them especially not with the Gears games.  We'll soon know though.
