Hurt by Johnny Cash

Very clever edit, especially the "The End" sync.  It's a shame that the subject matter of song doesn't fit.  Some additional editing / removal of lyrics could easily remedy that.

Get on it, Internet.  You have your objective.   ;D

quite good, i like both really. What's the original song?

It's called Heron Blue by Sun Kil Moon, a four piece from San Francisco named after a Korean boxer, I knew the first part, thanks Wiki for the second part.  :)

its probably nothing, but why is dom running toward delta, instead of fighting with them? its like he went on a suicide mission.  this trailer is pretty depressing

GamerMan316

Looks as though Dom's fallen on hard times following Gears 2, was already a favourite to die in Gears 3 and the trailer doesn't do anything to change that.

weren't the other 2 games reveal trailers also depressing? i remember Gears 1's Bad World advert thing... that was depressingly good too!

Gears novelist writing Gears of War 3 News

Epic Games has revealed that Gears of War novelist Karen Traviss is now writing the story for Gears of War 3, along with two more novels.

"We've always carefully integrated the books and the games, but now that Karen's writing the game as well, the storyline is even more tightly woven," said Epic exec producer Rod Fergusson in an announcement everyone missed on Tuesday.

"All the characters have a rich and troubled history, and the events between the second and third games plunge them into an even more desperate struggle to survive. The fourth book is essential reading for all Gearheads before they dive into the final game of the trilogy."

Traviss has previously written the Gears of War novels Aspho Fields and Jacinto's Remnant.

Gears of War 3 was announced this week and is due out on 8th April 2011 in Europe.

What We Want To See In Gears of War 3
With the third in the series announced, what do we want to see?

After all the rumour and speculation, it has finally been announced - Gears of War 3 is coming.

Obviously, we're all hugely surprised by the announcement which completely blind-sided us. It's not as if the open ending for Gears of War 2 demanded a further sequel to tie up the sequel. Or that it would be insane to expect a third in the series. Nope, we were all completely surprised by the announcement. Cough.

Never mind all that though. Let's get down to business. What's going to change this time round? And what do we want? Cliff Bleszinski has already promised more Lambent, double-barrel shotgun and female soldiers. Here are five things we want to see

Improved Horde Mode

While Gears of War 2 was arguably the game that made Horde mode a trendy must-have for all shooters, it has plenty of room for improvement. The main issue is the pacing of it. For the first five or six waves, there's no challenge. Yet it takes a while to clear through them so you're talking five minutes of dead time at the very least before you need to start thinking about what you're doing.

That's far too long. In addition to that, the way the waves are simply 1-10 cycles but with increasing difficulty makes Horde mode feel more repetitive than it should. The best take on Horde mode is Left 4 Dead 2's Survival, which has you fighting for your life as quickly as a minute into it, with the enemies being endlessly piled on. There are lessons to be learnt from the success of that mode.

Story Resolution

The story should be resolved. Gears of War was originally planned along a trilogy arc and the storyline of Locust vs Earth can't be drawn out forever. Each game has ended on a cliffhanger that leads into the next in the series, so we want to see some story resolution for Gears of War 3.

That doesn't mean we're confident it will happen though. With Bungie likely to take its foot off the Halo pedal following Reach, Microsoft will want to keep some big name IP to provide reliable hits and Gears of War makes sense in that role, so why would they want to draw a line under the plot? We'll have to wait and see how Epic decides to play this one.

Solid Online Play

Yes... it's a weird one, we know. It's not even a call to arms for excellent online play but rather, solid online play. What gives? As anyone who tried playing Gears of War 2 online on launch day knows, or any time in the months afterwards for that matter, the matchmaking was screwed up and the netcode was horrible.

It took several patches for Epic to get it right but they got there in the end, with Gears of War 2 being an awesome online game with plenty of DLC support. But a bad reputation is a hard thing to shake off and those who had been burnt by the launch day blues stayed away. Epic now knows the value of getting this right straight away and we won't expect the same mistake again.

Better Pacing

Gears of War got the pacing spot on, for the most part. The action kicked along at a decent pace, there were plenty of dramatic revelations in the storyline to keep interest high and the variation kept going throughout. Epic did a good job at keeping your attention whether through stunning visuals, drip-feeding new plot details or an emotional hammerblow such as what happened to Tai or Maria.

And yet, that final chapter felt so needless. Everything felt like it was about to be tied up when suddenly, you're on the back of a Brumak barrelling through the Locust caves, with no drama because you're near invincible, and then you have one of the least memorable and least enjoyable boss fights to bring the game to an end. Which brings us onto the next point...

Decent Final Boss Battle

General RAAM was not an enjoyable boss fight. Not because of the difficulty spike but because of the mundane nature of the actual battle combined with the did-I-touch-it nature of the kryll. When the kryll is introduced in the main game, you didn't have to worry about whether you would survive touching the 'edges' of the shadows where they lurked, because you were afforded plenty of room. In the RAAM fight, no such margin of error, cue frustration as you essentially run back and forth along a tiny train emptying your ammo into the hulking Locust general.

The boss fight against the Brumak at the end of Gears of War 2 was even worse. That wasn't even a boss per se, just an extended storyline gimmick designed to bring the game to a close and nod towards the third in the series. It didn't even have a name. If it did, we don't remember it. Gears of War 2 spends the majority of its time setting up Skorge as the main villain, who you then defeat towards the end of the game but turns out not to be the final battle, which is instead against the mutated Brumak. Is it too much to ask for a stunning boss battle to end the third game? We'll see in April 2011...

Just reading some of the posts on the Epic forums on some ideas for Gears 3, here are a few good ones, what do you think?

Loads of people discussing bosses appearing in Horde, i've been wanting this for ages, every 10th wave maybe would be ideal for Brumaks, Reavers, Beserkers, Corpsers and whatever Lambent boss creatures are in Gears 3 too, maybe even Skorge & Raam which would be great and would ramp up the difficulty a fair bit too.  Imagine the chaos if on the first time we get to wave 10, Raam shows up, i'd love it  ;D
Horde specific maps are a must too.

Map Editors are getting a lot of discussion, even if only for private matches, which of course would benefit us all and would make the game practically last for ever.

Having Insane mode as a choice from the off is also mentioned, not too bothered either way on that, if Insane on Gears 3 is as easy as Insane on Gears 2 then most people would start straightaway on Insane, similar to MW2 being a piece of piss on Vet.

Theres also this  :)
