Because it's not April 2011 yet   

I guess they're still working on a few things, single player is probably finished bar a few tweaks, Beast mode looks done from the vids we've seen, just MP and Horde 2.0 to show us yet.

Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall.
Next week we have a major multiplayer press visit at Epic HQ, and I'm really looking forward to the fans getting to see and hear about Gears 3 Versus multiplayer for the first time. Lots more exciting news to come."

Gears of War 3 delayed

Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War 3 has been delayed from 8th April 2011 to "Fall 2011".

According to a statement sent by Microsoft, Epic Games' third-person shooter was moved "to make it the marquee title for the holiday season".

"Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011," the Microsoft statement reads.

"The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the spring of 2011. However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."

This is a joke right. Gears is now not coming out in April but at the end of next year. A whole more year to wait. Bollocks.

I am pretty pissed off by that news, i was really looking forward to playing it and now we have to wait a full 12 months or maybe more. well as soon as i get my wings in gears 2 i won't be playing it any more, which means no gears for me after that for a long time, too long!

I might go back to playing Gears 1 constantly now i've got my wings, not bothered about the remaining 5 Gears 2 achievements, time to start working on my Gears 1 weapon achievements instead, keep me busy until November next year.

Do we know the official reason why it has been delayed, Is it a problem with the game, Because I was under the impression the game was pretty much finished. Or is delayed for the fact that Microsoft wanted a killer title for next Xmas, Where it will go head to head with MW3 maybe.

Killer title for Christmas 2011 seems like the main reason, MS have got Kinect this year and probably another bunch of Halo sales so next year is pretty much free, potentially going head to head with MW3 won't be an issue.
