Paul

4 Stars

Very funny, not as good as Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz (Edgar Wright wasn't involved with this) but still a quality movie.  Pegg and Frost are typically brilliant, Kristen Wiig is superb as the bible bashing Ruth, Bateman, Hader and Lo Truglio all great too, Seth Rogen as Paul is basically the same as Seth Rogen in everything he's starred in only you don't have to look at him!   :)

Loads of classic sci-fi references in the movie too.

Ryan Reynolds trying to be the Green Lantern:

EDIT: saw it today. in 3d, it was sorta a waste of 18$
2.5 stars. (mostly for effort) The final fight scene was SOFA KING LAME!

Larry Crowne 5 Star.

It may not be for everyone, but I can relate to most of the entire movie.  It's about life, realtionship, career and making the necessary changes.

Movie I saw a couple days before that, Zoo Keeper.  I rate it about 2.5/3.  Had some funny parts, had some really stupid parts. And we all know animals can't talk.

Brotherhood

4 Stars

Great Indie Suspense film.  A Murphy's law story where everything goes from bad to worst.  The characters are horrible people, completely unrelatable, but feel very real.  For such a young cast, the acting was super, managing to not feel like a teen horror/drama (eg. Swim Fan).  I also appreciate that the movie uses elements like racism and peer-pressure in a way that doesn't feel preachy.

The Lincoln Lawyer

3 Stars.

Matthew McConaughey being Matthew McConaughey ... as a lawyer (again) ... in a Lincoln.  I'm not a fan of Matthew McConaughey, but he does this role well (over and over again).  His character is interesting enough, a mix of lawyer/hustler/con-man, I would watch a sequel.  The courtroom drama is well executed, but the story & attempted twist with the killer kind of loses steam by the end.

I almost put The Lincoln Lawyer on the other night but ended up watching The Adjustment Bureau instead which was pretty good, 3 stars for that too!

Harry Pottter and the deathly Hollows Pt 1 and 2
3.5 stars for both. It was suspenseful and fast paced, better than reading that boring ass book -.-
Part 2 looks AMAZING in 3d.

and who knew Gary Oldman looks similar to Alan Rickman...

Haven't seen the film but from the trailers, I kind of got the feeling that The Lincoln Lawyer was going to turn into this:

In which Ed Norton stole the film... Just don't know if The Lincoln Lawyer has its own "Ed Norton" to make it payoff down the stretch. Might check it out when I get a chance though.

Primal Fear is definetly better than Lincoln Lawyer.  But their similarities are limited.
The killer's identity in Lincoln Lawyer is made obvious within the first 20 minutes.
While the star in Primal Fear was my man Edward Norton, McConaughey is definitely the star of Lincoln Lawyer.

All I can say about this movie is pure brilliance. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush bounce off each other so well here, with the performances from both actors standing among the best I've seen. Superb. Funny, humorous, endearing, heartwarming and dramatic. A must see.

5 stars.
