Best Buy confirms Alpha Protocol 'Stealth Weapons Pack' pre-order bonus

Sega and Best Buy wired a press release confirming the Stealth Weapons Pack for Alpha Protocol, which includes "the Hamilton Marksman High-Accuracy Pistol, the Samael Typhoon High Recoil Control SMG and a bonus arsenal of ammo and mines." Huh, since when did the purveyors of home appliances start manufacturing weaponry?

The extra spy gear is only available through in-store Best Buy pre-orders, so you'll have to put on your best camo and infiltrate your local store if you want 'em.

Damn... wish we had a best buy here in the UK I really want this game  :)

No doubt Game, Gamestation, Play, HMV, Shopto etc. will have their own pre order bonuses over here, i'll keep an eye out for some.

I said it before, but after playing Splinter Cell Conviction I am sure of it.

This game is going to be like Tom Clancy and Mass Effect had an awesome kick-ass baby.  I can't wait!

Lukehi

Me too...think I may pre-order this.  Feels like been waiting forever!

Wow just wow,
Never has such a flawed glitchy buggy game impressed me so much, cant get enough of it at the minute, The story is great, character interaction is spot on, more impressive than ME/ME2.... But the combat is poor repetive yet i still cant stop playing, also the AI is shocking one minute and then ridiculously hard the next.

Hope theres a sequel because if they sort the combat and AI out this could be a great series.

Lukehi

I've heard that from others too.  Maybe they should have waited a little longer to sort it out.

It's got very average reviews...50 to 60%.

Ah well, may give it a go once it hits the bargain bins.

Alpha Protocol 'an absolute failure of production' says dev
Anonymous post appears on review's comments section but is it real?

A curious post attacking Alpha Protocol from one its own developers has emerged online.

Posting under the handle 'a tired dev', the Alpha Protocol developer details what went wrong with the game and why he agrees with the criticisms mentioned in reviews.

"The Executive Producer for the game, Chris Parker (also an owner of the company), seemed to think he was the world's greatest designer ever, and created all these absolutely shitty systems and wouldn't listen to any of the real designers or devs about things that just didn't work," he explains.

"And you can't exactly argue with one of the owners of the company when he doesn't want to listen... Sega also was a factor, because they kept changing the design requirements (yes they had heavy influence there), which never gave the producers and designers time to actually decide on one set of features to make and polish."

"The blame is still mostly Obsidian's because the execution was absolutely terrible, and it was obvious 2 years ago that this game should have been scrapped. Instead, though, they focused on adding still more features and never fixed the ones they already had. That is a recipe for tons of bugs and no polish... as is obvious."

He goes on to say that Sega should have cancelled Alpha Protocol instead of Aliens. Ouch.

It's impossible to really know if an Obsidian developer was behind this post or just an internet troll with too much time on his hands but it's an interesting bit of controversy nevertheless.

Finished it a few days ago, Really dont get the hate for this game, i really enjoyed it, granted theres a ton of bugs and glitches and some of the bosses are overly hard but theres a hell of a lot of potential for a sequal/series and if they fix the problems if would be a A+ game.

a sequel is extremely doubtful now after all this bad press, cancelled pre-orders and just general haters.

The story is perfect and is told brillantly, better than Mass Effect 2 in my opinion, the games just let down by poor combat and AI.

at least a 7 or 8/10, some reviewers have been giving a 2/10 which is just stupid

This game is staying on my rental list.... but can't believe it's being bashed as much as it is  :(
