Im considering ordering these at a discounted price. (Thank You amazon credits!).  Never bought a gaming headset before, but my mic died and I'm in need of something new with both Gears and Battlefield coming.

Anyone ever used Sharkoon before?

They're pricey but have plenty of good reviews on Amazon. The first 3star/average review said this though.

However, I don't think the performance justifies the price tag. I feel like a stereo headset would be only a hint behind the Xtatic in performance, as the surround sound in the Xtatic is not very great.

So a Stereo headset would be slightly behind in quality but half the price probably.... still, if you have the cash and they do look smart (not that any of us will see them on your head) go for it. You can't take money with you, remember.

I read that one, but the majority are good.  I'm not an audiophile by any means.. and like you said they look slick.  Just ordered.  I'll let you guys know my impressions when I get them.  Kinda excited to hear Gears through these... and War Tapes in BC2.

Got them.  I am really happy with this set so far.  The sound quality is excellent... being my first 5.1 headset I'm realizing the advantage it give in FPS games.

Pros
Comfortable - I've worn them for a couple hours at a time with no comfort issues.
Quality - They are solid... don't feel like they are going to break.
Sound - Very clear, definitely 5.1 dolby quality... not sure why Amazon reviews said stereo.  Also you can program your preferences for front, back, top, bottom speakers.
Look - I tihnk they look pretty slick compared to other brands
Removable Mic - This is pretty convenient for single player
The ability to simply turn down/mute other talkers.  Eliminates having to mute them from the menu or players list.

Cons
Lots of cables, which is to be expected somewhat.
Another thing I have to plug in behind my entertainment center.
The word "XTATIC" lights up in green on each side.  Its a little weird when I'm in the dark playing and my headset is lighting up everything around me.

I will say they seem fairly large size wise.  For example, I wear a 7 3/4" cap and have them at the smallest adjustment setting.

Overall, I would recommend these highly.

A couple strips of electrical tape will take care of that.   ;)

Random Sidenote:  If you search "electrical tape" in google images, you get some really weird porn in the results.   :o

I've been and bought a set of X12's today, not used them with xbox yet but have had them plugged into laptop whilst listening to a bit of Oasis and they sounded great. I'm looking forward to trying them on the box later.

I'm planning to get a X12 for me this month. Macken, could you please share your opinions with us? I mean, for both gaming and chat sound quality, if its really comfortable, and mostly, if you see (hear) any difference from an ordinary (non-cheap) stereo headphone....

Thanks!

To completely suck the magic out of this discussion, I just bought this generic cell phone headset to replace my broken mic.  $3 on Amazon.   8)

I've tested a little bit by recording some voice messages and playing other voice messages back.  So far so good.  Next time we play let me know if I sound any better/worse.   #)

More power to ya. I was reading this thread and I cant completely fathom paying so much money for a gaming headset. I have one that came with the xbox, one that came with the chatpad, and a logitech usb headset I got for my ps2 ages ago that I now use with my computer. Never had any problem with any of them and I do a LOT of talking.
