bslhonda (Diracs Delta)
« on: April 11, 2012, 04:11:35 PM »

What's the story behind your Gamertag?
Uh, my first choice was my name, then I changed it to Dirac's Delta just because its an amazing mathematical function. P. M. A. Dirac was an amazing scientist btw, and I admire him as person too.

Where do you live?
Actually I'm living in São Paulo, Brasil. Moving soon, I hope...

What do you do for a living?
Well, my current position is post-doc researcher at University of São Paulo. Trying to get a full professor chair somewhere, soon. My most recent works deals with quantum dots and europium teluride semiconductors, we're performing some spintronics in low temperature and high magnetic fields and stuff :)

What is the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?
Mine is weird enough...now the main thing is time-resolved pump-probe in liquid helium system,
something like 0.000000000001 seconds in -450ºF, I think its casual but others say its crazy...

How long have you been playing videogames?
Well, since Atari, almost 20 years now (18 year I guess)

What is the first videogame you ever played?
Yep. Atari, as long as I remember...

How often do you play videogames?
Maybe 4-5 times in a week...1-4 hours each. Not too much used to play online, 'couse I really suck playing :(  I mean, my last console was a Sega Genesis, long time before when just 3 buttons were enough!

What hobbies do you enjoy besides videogames?
Oh, I really enjoy music, listening, recording, playing guitar. I like to build things too, like
guitar fx, stomp boxes, fightstick controllers, kinda electronic things...

What's your gaming setup like?
Xbox with kinect into a Sony Bravia 32" LCD, turtle beach X12 H7, and a few controllers (2 standart wireless, 2 arcade fightsticks and 1 wireless speed wheel)

What's your favorite multiplayer game?
Gears of War 3.

What's your favorite single player game?
I don't know. for Xbox I think I'd say RDR, the SP campaign is amazing...

What's your favorite downloadable/indie game?
Don't have any indie to give a shot...but my XBLA favorite is street fighter 3...

What future game are you most looking forward to?
Don't have this hype about things, but to answer, I think its Diablo 3.

What do you think is the best game of all time?
Tough one! I think its something like Day of Tentacles, Monkey Island, KOTOR...

What do you think is the best film of all time?
There's a good one call Mr. Nobody, if need to choose only one I think I'd choose this one! Matrix part one is awesome too..

What do you think is the best album of all time?
Impossible to answer...BUT, might be a live album, for sure! That kind of album played once in lifetime, like Live at Pompeii (Floyd) or Kind of Blue (M Davis), or some Zappa performance...

What's your funniest 360° Fahrenheit moment?
I'm not sure I have one. I'm usually busy enough trying not to die and I cannot speak and play at same time, unfortunately...

What is your greatest gaming moment?
I'm not sure I have one neither, but I'll not let this unanswered. I have great moments in 2-d fighting games, like street fighter 4 arcade edition, its the game I play mostly. Playing with friends is always a great moment...

What's your favorite TV show that's currently running?
Uh, no one, but I watched some the big bang theory thing, is funny, really funny - but I barely got first season..ah, wait a minute, Simpsons is cool, its still running?

What's your favorite TV show that's no longer running?
I used to like old series like Seinfeld...and cartoons, too!

If they made a movie about your life, who would play you?
No one, I'd play myself better than anyone, trust me. Ok, probably Jackie Chan would do it better

What one celebrity would you like to be stranded on a desert island with?
No one I can remember. Theres a lot there I would be within a night, probably a weekend...but no one for a desert island!

What's your karaoke song?
Probably a Beatle's song, only if you insist THAT much, I hate singing...

What is the last book you read?
Uh, to be honest, the very last was called "press me", its a child book :) I used to read too much technical books, I really need to change it,,,

What fictional character is most like you?
Guybrush Treepwood, mighty pirate!

What superpower would you like to have?
Teleport, for sure!

If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
I think I'd choose to be somebody with a lot of money, but unknown...

What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
All of them!

Ah, hard one...Sandman is my favorite char in HQ, but superhero I think its the old spidey...and Constantine for antihero hehe.

Who's your favorite videogame character?
Guybrush Treepwood, mighty pirate!

Who's your favorite actor?
Don't have one...but I really think Penelope Cruz a cuttie, just to be known...

I'm a being always in change, so its my musical taste...just love R&R and related, blues jazz and world music as well, love electric guitar and instrumental songs, I'm a very zappafloydian guy, kind of...

What is your favorite movie quote?
"There's no spoon" - The Matrix

What's the worst food you've ever eaten?
Man, things that smell bad tends to tastes bad as well...but, thinking better, the worst food I ever eat was made by my ex-wife, anything she did was awful trust me :(

What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?
I got amazed with the functionality of Kinect, can't say what is possible combining both visual stereoscopic and infrared remote sensors technologies. The virtual is now real.

What is the most awesome place you have been?
I've seen a lot of breathless places, but one in special took my attention. Cataratas do Iguaçu (Iguaçu Fall) in Brasil/Paraguai/Argentina borders, its beyond amazing! You know, when you got puzzled about infinite numbers, and infinite source and infinite drain...theres SO MUCH water flowing...SO MUCH...

What is the most awesome place you haven't been yet?
Ah, the world is big enough to please me for a lifetime...there's a lot of "most" waiting for me out there.

Complete this sentence: "People of Earth, …”
..take it easy!

Final thoughts?
Like, a gossip? Here a good good one: listen to good music. Don't you ever ever waste your time with the bad ones, listen to the music of the universe: 'And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.'

I think Scotty said something similar once when asked why the dilithium crystals weren't powering the warp engines properly !!!!!
