One of the biggest stories out of today's Electronic Arts press conference was a pair of firm release dates for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  The highly anticipated sequel will be hitting North America first on March 2, 2010.  A few days later, the game will be hitting European store shelves on March 5, 2010.

EA praised their upcoming war game to the highest degree, even claiming that players "will soon witness the best-in-class online warfare experience".  Will it stand toe to toe with Modern Warfare 2?  Only time will tell.

However, developer behind the Battlefield frranchise, DICE, is stressing that Bad Company 2 will deliver a level of destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open world environments that have never been experienced in a modern warfare game.  There will also be new air, land and sea vehicles for players to sink their teeth into.

Customization will also play a role in the game, when players can choose from a selection of 46 different weapons and then can customize them into over 200 different high-powered firearms.  There will be over 15,000 possible kit variations, so each player will be able to pick the weapon upgrades and combat enhancements that will suit their playing style.

Just six and a half short months until we can see if EA and DICE can back up their high praises on their highly anticipated game.

Sarge will be psyched for this.

Unfortunately, Battlefield was one of the games I had to miss because of time constraints.  I look forward to picking it up used and cheap next year.

Bad Company is great online, we should all pick it up cheap next year and have some good Friday nights on it.

Watch out for Battlefield Bad Company 2 phishing, warns BF blog

DICE is letting folks know that there are currently no Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta sign-ups, meaning that any recent invitations you may have received represent scams. Battlefield producer Gordon Van Dyke is letting the community know that any site asking you to sign up for the beta is phishing -- he recommends you "give them the middle finger."

Van Dyke notes that if players aren't reading an announcement from the company's site or official Twitter, it just ain't real. Although we're sure you savvy consumers know better in this age, game companies aren't going to ask for your social security, mother's maiden name or other standard security questions.

Just found this at the battlefield site.A week late but good news for PS3 owners.Just gotta wait for the xbox one now!

Starting 19 November 2009, PS3 gamers will be able to experience the unprecedented action, destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open sandbox environments that only Battlefield can deliver.
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbour map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game's four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbour. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 won't put up a fight against XBL party chat

Electronic Arts has called in another marketing airstrike against Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, hoping to pull members of its fanbase who're unhappy with its online play towards Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The previous target was dedicated servers for PC players; now it's Xbox Live party chat and the ability to use it in multiplayer.

Speaking with MTV Multiplayer, EA DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke stated, "We are ok with [party chat]. We haven't taken a stance being against it and feeling like people are cheating." Modern Warfare 2 only offers party chat support in a handful of its multiplayer playlists, ostensibly to curb cheating. But, according to Van Dyke, he doesn't "think [cheating with party chat is] that big of an issue, that I've seen, where we have to worry about that" in Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

So, is party chat (or the lack thereof) really that important to you?
