Never had that happen to me either, sounds dodgy.

There might be a few answers here, a lot to trawl through but hopefully it'll help you out.

The old standby solution to all game glitches I encounter:

1.  If the game is installed on my HDD, delete the game (4-8GB file)
2.  Clear HDD cache.
3.  Start game from disc and install latest update when prompted.
4.  Exit back to Dashboard and reinstall disc.

This method has remedied a lot of games for me (Oblivion, Left 4 Dead, Splinter Cell, etc.).

Another possible solution:

I had my sound cut out at one point. I went into the menu and changed it over to Home cinema then back to war tapes and it worked just fine.

I will try those Neato, thanks for your time but i am pretty convinced it may be my xbox. Its a 3+ year old arcade and after friday night when it kept freezing up on gears 2 i think its dying. I will try this game on my dads xbox which is only 5 months old just to prove the theory. What do you think, worth trying?

Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition turns up at retailers

An Ultimate Edition of Battlefield Bad Company 2 has been outed on US and UK retailers' websites, suggesting that EA are set to re-release the game with additional content.

According to a listing on ShopTo.net, Bad Company 2's Ultimate Edition will include Battlefield 1943, 'Limited Edition Unlocks & VIP Downloads' and the recently released Onslaught mode.

But don't expect a budget price for the re-release. According to ShopTo, the RRP will apparently be set at £39.99.

The Ultimate Edition has also been spotted on Amazon's US website, where it's available for pre-order on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $59.99.

We've contacted EA for comment.

UPDATE: EA has confirmed to GamerZines that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition will launch in the UK on September 2nd, complete with the content listed above.

Does anyone know how I can get the code that came with the game, I brought a pre-owned copy and it now seems that I can't play a whole lot of maps.
