Nice line up for sure, but I definitely see MS using these type sales to continue to make its case for downloadable retail games in the future, (especially, since that's the method they seem to be presenting this sale in).

GamerMan316

Probably guarantee that all the games in the upcoming sale will be far cheaper on disc too!

True. Add to that the fact that I wonder which of these games on the list will end up as part of that "2 free games a month for the rest of the year" promotion, which Microsoft has yet to fully reveal. Microsoft continues to have a communication problem.

All I know is that it would royally suck to buy The Orange Box through this sale, just to find out it'll be given out for free later this year.

Defense Grid: The Awakening Will be Free From July 1 - July 15

The second game in the "Games for Gold" program that kicked off during E3 with Fable III (which will expire after today) has been announced by Major Nelson to be the XBLA tower defense game Defense Grid: The Awakening, despite himself having said previously that Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2 would be the next two games. It will be available free to Gold members from July 1-15, after which it will revert to 800MSP and a new game will take its place. The "Games for Gold" program will offer one free game every two weeks to Xbox Live Gold membership holders, through the release of the Xbox One. It has not been announced if the program will continue into the next generation.

Here's a review of Defense Grid: The Awakening -

I haven't tried it or played many Tower Defense games, but it looks like it could be fun...and hey, it's free, so no complaints here.
