hmmm, me neither, but don't pay more for the GOTY edition when you get nothing extra that isn't free anyway.

5 Ways To Be Evil In Left 4 Dead 2 Versus
How to get the upper hand on the survivors using the new faces...

A big part of Left 4 Dead's appeal in Versus mode was the sheer creativity of it.

Despite only having three basic types of Special (Boomer, Smoker, Hunter) to work with, their skills could be used in varied and interesting ways.

The early days of the mode saw Boomers standing on top of alarmed cars, tempting Survivors into taking a fatal shot. Now, log onto the Left 4 Dead servers and you'll find Smokers who know where they can get one-hit kills on each corner of the map, flaming Hunters and Boomers guarding fallen survivors.

Valve seems to have realised what the community was doing and the new specials reflect that. Here's the difference between the current Left 4 Dead and what you can do now...

1. BEFORE: Some specials could break down walls but only in very specific areas on the map.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: Go on ahead to set a trap. Destroying shack walls and bringing down bridges (!) leaves survivors open to attack.

2. BEFORE: Boomers could kick off ambushes by puking on the survivors, so they can't see and save each other until the puke clears.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: Wait for the Mudmen to attack. Their ankle-biting swarm will probably keep them down, allowing you to attack from above.

3. BEFORE: An early glitch allowed specials to hit certain objects around the level, which meant they could block doorways. Valve removed the glitch as it could make levels impossible to complete.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: Use the Spitter to make doorways impassable, trapping the survivors in the path of the other specials - or ideally, a Tank.

4. BEFORE: Smokers could latch onto players and pull them into areas they're trying to avoid - through the metal detector in Dead Air, for example.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: As a Charger, attack when everybody's standing close together by the water. Knock them all in with one hit and they could all drown - and you'll get a bowling-based "Strike!" achievement for it.

5. BEFORE: Hunters remain hidden and use fallen survivors as bait. Boomers without vomiting could stand right on top of fallen survivors, forcing the survivors to blow him up and cover the fallen player in vomit.

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: Don't forget the golden rule of Versus mode, be evil. Splattering a fallen survivor with spit means the others are less likely to rush to revive them.

MP is hard as a survivor, no AI script in the world can match most L4D players when they're special infected. I like hiding behind doors as a boomer or pulling victims through fire, or catching a straggler off-guard with a hunter. Can't wait to be a Charger.

Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters flown to Valve; boycotters boycot original boycotters

The two Steam users (Walking_Target and Agent of Chaos) who kick-started a Left 4 Dead 2 boycott, soon after the game was announced at E3 2009, were recently invited to Valve's offices to play the game and interview members of its development team. While both users (pictured above invading Valve boss Gabe Newell's personal space) vow to continue boycotting the upcoming title, they reported Left 4 Dead 2 "seemed balanced and 'tight' and did not feel like a rushed job."

Ironically, since visiting Valve's office the two boycott leaders have been forced to defend themselves against accusations of "corruption," a position not too removed from the one Valve now occupies in relation to the boycott. Some Steam users have asked the pair to relinquish admin duties of the boycott group, but the Valve visitors maintain the effort has progressed "well beyond what most people thought we'd get done."

The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott group on Steam currently has over 40,000 members and requests (demands?) that Valve offer the sequel as either a free update or as a discounted expansion pack to owners of the original Left 4 Dead.
