I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

Basically when you make your opponent explode into pieces, up close shotgun blasts, explosions, chainsaw kills etc, the term came from the early Quake days.

CHEATERS' LEADERBOARDS TO BE WIPED TODAY

To better enrich the online gaming experience for players, the Gears of War team is taking action today against verified cheaters. These players have not only violated the spirit of the game, but they have also violated the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use.

In response, the Gears team will wipe the leaderboards of all verified cheaters. Anyone involved in the cheaters' games will also have their leaderboards wiped—a move many players in the Gears community requested. However, players involved with the cheaters will only have their leaderboards wiped for bad scores, rather than have all scores wiped. In addition, the team will report the names of certain repeat offenders to Xbox LIVE. The Xbox LIVE team may take additional action.

We believe that gamers deserve a level playing field, and these actions will help ensure that Gears 2 and Xbox LIVE deliver the best multiplayer experience in gaming.
